My friend experienced this in owerri during a heavy downpour; he was about to disconnect the line after a call when suddenly a lightening flashed close to him and the phone he held fell from his hand. he ran away from the scene. he was very lucky but he had pains on his arm for days after this incident.
so stay away from electronic devices, glass and metals in an exposed environment during thunderstorms.
