Access bank, GTB, Zenith are working but the exchange rate is fluctuating and affecting it, currently 100$ is 903sek, u can try any of the bank cards now. Barter also works
Fumns:
Hello, good morning

Please anyone who has paid their application fee, what bank did you use or how did you go about it ?

I have seen some mention of some methods but there is no actual confirmation by anybody on what works except the method of getting someone abroad to pay for you.

Please if anyone has done it from Nigeria and it worked , i would appreciate if you could share how you got it done.

Thank you

Then it won’t be the same course, it seems he/she wants to do the same course as 2nd Masters
Mobil567:
This is not true. Universities like Lund, Gothenburg and some others prioritise applicants with masters degree for their university scholarship. I know this from some current and previous scholars. It’s only for SI, that it disqualifies you!

Also, the embassy does not know which document you submitted for your admission application. You will only be questioned about it, if you mention it during your RP application or bring the certificate during an interview.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 12:33am On Jan 14, 2022
You can apply for 2nd masters, It would be better you don’t use the masters certificate during the application, you would be asked questions regarding it at the embassy. Unless you feel you will be prepared to answer the numerous questions. I don’t think the masters will be of any advantage to scholarships
Leleky:
Can someone apply for a second masters program in sweden? If yes, will adding the first masters certificate during application be an advantage for admissions and scholarships? Thanks

Yes

They are both ok, but 2 yrs program give personal number faster, and more expensive, would advise you hold the school fees of at least the following semester before leaving naija for both 1yr or 2yrs

Create a virtual card on barter and fund the dollar value
SilverSurfer:
I was using Access Visa Card... I have tried barter but there's no option to transfer beyond Africa.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 8:03am On Jan 05, 2022
What card are you using? Most Naira cards are capped with $100 limit. Use barter, it will work
SilverSurfer:
I'm having problems paying for the admission application fees. I really do not know how to go about it.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi:
It is not a guarantee. Attending the webinar will give you overview about sweden and preparation towards it, if it is your first choice and ur transcript is ok with the required courses needed for the masters, you would be selected. Prepare your questions for them so you will be guided properly

ensamy:
Hello guys, University of Lund is organising a webinar for thier applicatants and it's one of my selected universities among the four selected.
I have been invited and have registered.
My question is, does this has an added advantage on the admission process as per preparation and scholarship application information. The organiser is a Nigerian who is incharge of Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria applicants and has been working for the university for 10 years. Please I need to know.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 8:17pm On Jan 03, 2022
I have Swedish friends outside my class, and I told them to speak Swedish anytime we interact, the social life is ok, there are meetups almost every weekend where I stay with other internationals. If I want to go to where I will meet more Swedes I can but that is not my focus right now (clubbing). At where I work I have met Swedes
Wrap46:
That’s just a course and I am sure she won’t learn Swedish by just taking a course from her university.

You are required to at least finish Swedish as a second language in other to stand a chance for a job in that profession unless you are one of the lucky ones who gets employed with foreign organizations such as WHO.

Now taking a Swedish class with university won’t give you a language certificate but rather a transcript including other courses she has done.
Language certificates are given by kommun (might be wrong)

Learning language requires alot of work, practicing and speaking it with people is very essential to master the language. I assume you are in Living in sweden, what do you think about the social life here ? How many genuine swedish friends have you made other than the one your see in school?
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 7:44pm On Jan 03, 2022
It is a true scenario, her school is teaching it free, It is a free course for Stockholm University, there are even online forums on meetup that teach Swedish, see attached an online forum am registered for Swedish. she doesn’t qualify for personal number because she is on 1 year program
Wrap46:
Sorry mate this scenario is not realistic and I will tell you why.

1) you are expected by law to spend 40hrs or more if you are studying full time in Sweden.
2) you can’t register for Swedish lessons with coordination number.
3) there is no way she will be working and doing all two things and make a good grade. (Obviously possible if you got a high IQ)
4) if she got a work contract then she won’t be needed coordination number as the contract enables her for personal number.

Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Thanks

TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 7:18pm On Jan 03, 2022
Now let me give u a scenario, I have a friend studying international law here in sweden and it is in English, she is learning Swedish alongside, she is working alongside and with coordination number, if things don’t go according to her plan in sweden, there is Canada, so she has drawn her plan already. But if she had come here first, she would have ruled out sweden and not come to Sweden at all
Wrap46:
But bro would you let your kid to study law in Sweden if he is not fluent and not a citizen of Sweden ?

See it’s factual that language can be learnt but that takes years and most people who tend to learn the language end up after “sfi c” which is likely won’t give you the language qualification to practice law.

Language requires time and good support background which most immigrants don’t have here. So let’s say you learning Swedish now and not eligible for Csn how do you pay your rent and other expenses and still focus on the language?

And moreover I don’t think law programs are in English, the honest truth is most people here don’t want to hear the negative sides because they see it as discouraging and that’s fine. But we shouldn’t curse people out for their opinion.

Do I think a Nigerian student have a better opportunity in English speaking country? YES.

Logically we all should know this, and as an immigrant in Sweden you are a third class citizen. The battle you face is way higher than someone studying in a native language country.

Please no name calling anymore. We all here to learn

TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 6:52pm On Jan 03, 2022
We are not comparing sweden with other countries in this thread. This is Swedish thread talk. If u don’t want people to come to Sweden, create a thread, Anti-Sweden or if u want people to go to UK, go to UK thread, u don’t see people in Canada thread saying people should go to USA because they speak French in Canada or see people in USA thread saying people should go to Canada because Canada offers quick PR. As for this thread, if people are making enquiries about sweden education don’t advise another country, just drop ur reviews or experiences.
Mobil567:
You seee? Not a single tangible reason as to why sweden stands out from other countries that offer better opportunities!
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 6:32pm On Jan 03, 2022
Bro sharing your experience is ok but advising him to go to UK because he doesn’t think studying Law would be ok in Sweden because of language, when people can learn the language. Some people speak five languages here. We are in Swedish thread to talk about Sweden not comparing 2 countries. If he had told him there is language barrier that he should be prepared for it, it would have been ok, he didn’t say it.

Wrap46:
Please y’all I read from someone previous post asking about how life it’s in Sweden. Now when someone ask such questions shouldn’t we give a candid reply on both good and bad sides of the country?

Isn’t it best if people share their experience living in Sweden so that an aspiring student can make his or her plans before moving to a country?

Please can someone explain to me how peoples experiences are discouraging, cos I know if I had a solid plan and trusted my plan nothing in this world will discourage me to engage in it. Just saying people shouldn’t be so sensitive because someone shared their experience on here.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 6:11pm On Jan 03, 2022
It would be ok if everyone gets information from here, we all drop tips and advise to people about sweden, it will be kept for long period of time. The focus of this thread should be Sweden, nothing more nothing less. Any question is welcome, people here will answer to the best of their knowledge

Highlights of Sweden
There is room for PR/Citizenship in Sweden after studying
You have free education in Sweden if you are on work permit
You can bring your family(Spouse and Children) with you when studying
There are scholarship opportunities, SI, school scholarship etc
You can get government support for your children provided you are not working (mothers)

Temmrow:
You Know what? If you're going to Sweden to study, just face it and be focus. And if you're going to the UK to study please you're free to go. Nobody is forcing anybody.

Then secondly, maybe we should create a WhatsApp group JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN STUDYING IN SWEDEN, AND NOT FOR DISCOURAGERS. Because I don't understand why some people will be promoting a country in another country thread.

We are not saying UK is bad, UK is not bad. But one have to start from somewhere.

So please, if you're interested in going to Sweden, don't doubt it And also be positive.

I wish us all the BEST OF LUCK

I am saying don’t promote UK in Swedish thread, drop tips and advise, don’t say someone should go to UK when he is in Swedish thread, the title is Swedish Admissions not Sweden VS UK
Wrap46:
If people are to say all good about a country won’t you question the credibility?

No one is saying is bad in Sweden, why is it hard to comprehend this ?

There is no short cuts in life and stop thinking the way you thinking now cos that’s very misleading to people.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 12:43pm On Jan 03, 2022
Just accept you don’t have enough information about sweden and u think you do, there are ways in every country and there are flaws in every country. Portray more of the positive side of sweden and not promoting another country here. It is people like you that shout on social media about the bad sides of Nigeria making it look like only Nigeria has the problem meanwhile some countries are also facing the same issues as Nigeria , bribery, corruption etc, some are even worse than Nigeria but their citizens hardly post it on social media.
Mobil567:
Doesn’t mean it’s not telling on U

Promoter of thread. Maybe people living in north Cyprus can also grow thread since everywhere has ups/downsides smh
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 12:20pm On Jan 03, 2022
Lool, downsides of sweden telling on me and I am here sharing tips to fellow people. I shared tips and information about sweden not promoting UK in Swedish thread and making the thread not grow
Mobil567:
So why ask him to go for 1 year? When he can can go for 2 years and switch?

Bank account? lol!! Bank account that you can’t have BankID or swish or access to most services, is that one bank account? Bank account that 9/10 banks will reject you lol. Guy pls stop all this yarn

I’m sure if I see you in person, the downsides of sweden is showing well on you
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 11:49am On Jan 03, 2022
I promoted Sweden because we are in Swedish thread and u are promoting UK in Swedish thread which is not done in other threads. Our aim in this thread is to make it seamless for upcoming people. The thread won’t grow if people are being advised to choose another country. We in Sweden have experiences, we should share tips to our brethren, the Indians, Chinese, pakistans are much here despite the odds. It is ok to mention the odds but not promoting another country here
Wrap46:
Bro, we not arguing and you brought the UK up on here not me.

Certainly every country got its flaws, we are all hear to learn and nothing wrong sharing ideas together.

Have a sound day
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 11:01am On Jan 03, 2022
I am not here for argument and my major point is giving tips to people that come to this thread and not advertising UK in Sweden thread. It is not done in other threads. Every country has its own flaw. You see it during your research, u decide if u can continue or not
Wrap46:
They not after your money but asked students to pay school fees? Bro let’s be honest to people on here, the same tuition you pay here you can find a cheaper university in the Uk and do the same thing. The UK left the eu permanently few months ago and before that the education system was the same European standard education. I believe education is not just about going to school, we should also talk abt work, mental health and other areas of livelihood. I have lived in Glasgow and Birmingham and met Nigerians, Ghanaians and other Africans working in public sectors without prejudice which we don’t find here in Sweden.

I know for sure the only way you can cut your studies short in Sweden is if you have done some of the courses in your previous studies and only then you can take some of the courses out from your curriculum. Correct me if I’m wrong with a proof.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 10:41am On Jan 03, 2022
They are not after your money, they want to make sure you know it very well, UK low tuition fees school will patch u. Mind you, I am comparing the schools based on paying the same amount or slightly different for tuition fees.

As for the 2yrs to 1yr, it depends on the school and u need to speak with the program counselor. If you have some schools in mind, attend their tutoring sessions for prospective students, ask questions, it will inform your next steps
Wrap46:
Please where and how does Swedish education system beats the Uk?

Please can you explain how someone can cut his education from 2 years to 1 year?

From my understanding I know we don’t have summer classes and follow one education system unlike the USA or Canada.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 9:48am On Jan 03, 2022
The major thing is give him hints to help him achieve his desire, ur advise is ok but there are ways around in Sweden too. It is ok if u don’t know cos most people don’t know much about Sweden. Swedish educational system beats UK. UK is after your money, Sweden isn’t. There is even option of changing your 2 yrs study to 1 yr, people are doing that and he would have gotten personal number. Information is power in Sweden. If u are not well informed, the Swedes won’t give u the information except 1 out of 100 and that is if u are lucky to meet the nicest of them most especially the females. If u have coordination number, u have bank account, u have job, u are a bit ok cos most people do leave Nigeria to get jobs. We are in this thread to help people, other foreign country threads do not advise people to change their desires, they give tips to make it seamless for upcoming people.
Mobil567:
1) Coordination number is quite useless in sweden, say it as it is. That is a baseless reason to go for a one year programme.

2) 1 year or 2 years doesn’t matter for PR, that’s bullshit as study years don’t count in sweden. So how does it take longer? Nothing stops the person from switching to work permit after year one … at least by then you have a personal number, IDkort, BankID etc

3) Sweden is as expensive as uk. There is uncertainty? What’s someone doing for 2 whole years that they won’t find a job to prolong their stay? That must be an unserious fellow.
Working part time unlimited in sweden with the academic system you mentioned shows you’re only working because it’s totally impossible to combine both, get good grades and have reasonable salary at the end of the month. Be more transparent with your analysis

4) post study visa that it takes 5-6 months before MV responds + you have to show living expenses x 12 months. When they finally respond, they issue it for the remaining length of stay applicable. You talked about uncertainty in the uk? What’s the certainty that this person will get a job with the new work permit rules coming later this year in sweden?
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by mbachidi: 12:58am On Jan 03, 2022
You are right regarding not having personal number but there is also coordination number and this can be gotten to be used to work. 2yr program has its advantages and disadvantages.

Disadvantages:
Very expensive and time consuming, it takes longer time to process your PR cos it starts counting after your studies
The educational system is so different compared to Nigerian own and requires lot of time and effort before adapting. Most of the people here na DIY be their motto.

Advantages:
Personal number which is like social security number can be used for anything, hospital, work etc but also coordination number is applicable which is given to 1yr program students

As for finding work, some companies give contract letter that can be submitted to apply for coordination number

You can also apply for coordination number for banking services

Every country has its own flaws, UK has limited working hours while studying, the bills are crazy, after the 2yrs post study, there is uncertainty. The bills might take away the money he is paid from working with little savings left

@jerobans, target a school in the capital (Stockholm) or populous city like Gothenburg or Malmo. Make sure you have the 93k SEK complete. Have UK as backup plan if u really want Sweden. Have soft skills, it will make your adaptation easier. There is 1yr post study visa in Sweden

Mobil567:
Yes, it will be subtracted from the total tuition. However, I advise you to study a (2) year program than (1) year in Sweden.

With (1) year, you only get 10 months visa which disqualifies you from getting a PERSONAL NUMBER. Without this number, it’s more like you don’t exist in the system. Accessing services or even finding work is a hassle.

But the most important advise, why come to sweden to study law? You have to be 100% fluent in Swedish to practise in that area, and you have to go through the license process. 10 months program will not give you the time, & you will be stranded. The rules for work permit is also changing, we don’t know yet what they will implement but government wants to crack down on eg things like masters graduate doing restaurant work just to get permit. Basically about employers abusing work rights for desperate permit seekers.

So if you think about it, is it really paying 93,000sek with so much uncertainties on how to stay back after studies? Why not consider the uk where you get 2 years post study that’s buys you enough time to sort yourself? 93,000sek is like 9,300 euros…. If you add a little more money you can find a low cost uni in Uk.
From Uk, throw your net on Canada EE or other immigration routes if they’re still on.. before 3-4 years if your stay, you will get a response. That’s if you don’t already even find a job to extend your stay in Uk. Just my opinion but Goodluck

Talking about migration to Sweden, my advise is asides from having solid plans, have back up plans, your solid plan might not go as expected, your plan must be able to evolve. Most importantly get to meet and discuss with people, ideas will pop out. Get updated in every way possible. Don’t be an introvert like them

Try Swedbank for account opening, sometimes this account opening depends on who you meet that day, I opened account successfully with Swedbank without person number or coordination number at my first attempt , I referred people to Swedbank, some were denied some were accepted ,3/5 opened successfully without personal number/coordination, the 3rd person insisted on opening account, I don’t know how she did it but they told her stories of no person number no account and she came out with the account number

I hear personnumber takes at least one month to acquire.

Does Swedish permit exceed one year?
It depends on location, some get personnumber in 1 week, some take long, if your school is in their pilot program and u have sufficient living expenses , u can have 2 years permit, if your course is 2 years and not in the pilot, u can have 13 months also depending on your living expenses

Try it, I think I saw a post they give without return ticket, ask the bank

As for cash, they change USD, EURO and GBP in Sweden, cash is not widely used so when u change it, u deposit into your bank account , they use cards, if u have naija cards like AccessBank, Zenith and GTBANK, they work but they are capped to a monthly limit, 850SEK or 100$
