i think the rule is to have the visa to be allowed in the Schenghen area or valid American, Japanese, Canadaian visas.. can’t remember them mentioning on their site that it must be valid for the country u applied for or must be used for the country
Thanks - wish there was a way to confirm. I don't want them to have any issues departing Lagos, or be refused transit in the Netherlands.

Hey everyone,

My family are visiting me in the UK within the next couple of months. They have gotten their UK visitor visa, and also a Schengen transit visa (2 entries) from the French Embassy to be able to get cheaper tickets (direct flights are ridiculously expensive).

The problem is the Air France flights for the dates they want to travel are now quite expensive (still cheaper than direct), but there are KLM flights which are considerably cheaper however this would mean they will have to stop over in the Netherlands instead of France.

I know with a normal Schengen visa (short stay or long stay) you are required to first visit the country that issued the Schengen visa; is that the same for transit visas? As they are only in transit does it matter what Schengen country they travel through?

Thank you!
