Let's pretend we can try this again. The retail price of imported fuel has been around this 140 or so price for at about year now . .  so importers, if there was no subsidy for the last year, would have been selling at 140. However, the presence of subsidy rebate, allowed the marketers to sell their import at a cheaper price and still come out on top(because Government paid them the difference).
Since the rebate expired, and Government no longer paid them the difference (meaning if they sold at the low price, no one would refund them the difference) they had to resort to selling it at the recommended retail price --- it made no sense for the marketers to short change their own selves.

thats wia d problem lies, dunno if d subsidy handed out has expired. But how wuld u xplain d moves of NNPC.
