The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie has reacted to comments over the reality show, Big Brother Naija 2018.

Onochie said the government had no power to move against immoralities in the show as it was an adult programme.

According to her, the show was not compulsory to watch.

She disclosed this on her twitter page

Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, has spoken on the mystery snake which purportedly sneaked into the account office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in Makurdi, Benue State and swallowed N36m.

An account staff, Joan Asen and a lady outside JAMB allegedly connived to steal the money “spiritually” through a mysterious snake that always crawled into the office to swallow the money from the vault.

Reacting to this development, Ogunlesi on his verified twitter page threw more light to the amount remitted by JAMB in the spate of 6years.

According to him, 51million was remitted into federal government accounts between 2010-2016, yet 36m was found in an office.

According to him, the report was as a result of auditing being carried out at JAMB state offices.

He wrote “A sales clerk, Philomina Chieshe, told JAMB registrar and team that she could not account for N36m she made in previous years… Philomena confessed that it was her housemaid that connived with JAMB staff to “spiritually” steal the money from the vault in the accounts office.

“Recall that this same JAMB remitted only about N51 million to Govt Accounts between 2010 and 2016.

“In 2017, under new management appointed in 2016, it remitted N7.8 Billion. Now that new management is carrying out audits at State offices, and stories that touch are emerging.”

The FCT Directorate of Roads Traffic Services (DRTS) also known as Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) on Friday advised residents of the territory to desist from patronising unpainted taxi cabs.

The Public Relations Officer of the directorate, Mr Kalu Emetu, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

 
Emetu advised them to use painted taxi cabs as they were easily identified by security agents.

“It is a risk for Abuja commuters to patronise unpainted taxi cabs due to the high numbers of armed robbers operating in commercial vehicles, otherwise known as “One-Chance.”

“The painted taxi cabs are easily traceable by security agents or vehicle unions and that is why these criminals prefer to use the unpainted vehicles for their operations.

“The FCT administration had set up the Ministerial Task Force to help enhance the job we do as it comprises the paramilitary and the military personnel,” Emetu said.

 
He, however, noted that some drivers of the unpainted commercial vehicles were innocent, but that the bad ones among them were tarnishing the image of the good ones.

Emetu, therefore, advised owners and drivers of commercial vehicles to register their vehicles with the VIO, and also encouraged them to have their vehicles painted with the Abuja transport colour. (NAN)

Here I’m sharing the complete step by step guide which you can follow to add a custom domain to your blogger blog.

In this case, I’m assuming you have purchased domain name from GoDaddy and you have access to your blog.

Complete Guide to Setup With your Custom Domain Name:

Very first thing which you need to do is to purchase a domain name, which will usually cost around $11 for one year. The advantages you will get with custom domain name is worth your investment on domain name.

If you have never purchased a domain name before, here are guides which will help you to select the right name for your blog.

I recommend you to read it, and decide the name of domain which you want to buy. I highly recommend you to try buying .com domains instead of any other (.info, .org). In 2016, you can also consider buying new domain name extensions with .guru or .video.
Once you have decided upon the domain name, head over to GoDaddy and purchase your domain. (5 minute work).

Now, I assume you have two things with you:

Your blog up and running
You have access to your domain name
We have to make changes at two places, and once you setup the custom domain feature of , Google will take care of all traffic migration and you will not lose any traffic Or back links.

Add Register domain name to your Blog:

This is the first step where you will be adding the register domain name to your blog. Simply login to your dashboard, and head over to Settings > Basics and you will see an option which says Publishing >Blog address > + Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog:

Here you need to add the domain name that you have purchased, and after adding the domain name, it will give two CNAME records and 4 A records which we will be needing in the next step.

Click on + Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog, and add the domain name which you have purchased.

Note: You need to add domain with www as prefix. (See above screenshot for better understanding)

Once you have added the domain name with www, you will see an error saying “We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12..” and you will get the CNAME record that you need to configure (See below screenshot)

Now. once you have these CNAME details, it’s time to login to your domain control panel, and make changes.

Now, follow the next step of this guide and your custom domain name setup will be finished in no-time.

Setting up CNAME and A Record for Custom-Domain Name

Login to your Godady account dashboard & click on manage domains. You will see a screen like this:

Click on the domain name which you have purchased inside your dashboard, and you will be on Manage domain page.
On the next page, click on DNS zone file to start adding the record.(See below screenshot for the reference)

Click on Add record & from the pop-up select CNAME record & add both the record one by one from your setting screen. Here is both the image to make it easy for you to understand the setup

Adding A records to your Domain DNS

This is the last step where you just need to add 4 I.P. Address into your A record. The process is going to the be the same as above, all you need to do is add A record instead of CNAME. I’m sharing one screenshot which will show you how to add A record, and similarly you can add all 4 A records.

Click on Add record, select A name under record type. In the Hostname part add @ and on Destination IPv4 address add 216.239.34.21

Like this you need to have total 4 A record and your final screen for A record will look like this. Here are the I.P. address of 4 A record which you need to add.

Now once you have setup CNAME and A record, you need to wait for 5 minutes to 4 hours for this changes to reflect globally. You need to go back to your dashboard, and click on save changes.

If the CNAME & A record has been updated globally, this time instead of showing error “We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12.“, your custom domain will start working. In my case, it took only 5 minutes.

If you see error that means, you need to wait for some more hours to add the custom domain name. So, here is the final screenshot which I see:



Once it’s added, Google will take care of redirection part, and anyone if opens your blog address, he/she will be automatically redirected to your new custom domain name.

This will also work seamlessly for internal pages, and you will not lose any traffic or link-juice.

One last thing:

Also, you need to click on Edit here, and redirect non www version of your domain to www. Simply click on Edit and check the options which says “Redirect xxxx.com to www.xxxx.com”

The whole process may look technical, but once you are inside the dashboard and follow all the steps mentioned above, it will be easier for you to implement.

If you have been blogging on platform for a while or for long time and not using custom domain feature, I highly recommend you to start using it for better branding and to make your blog look more professional.

Know Your Meta Tags
There are four major types of meta tags worth knowing about and we’ll talk about them all here. Some are not as useful as they once were. Others are worth using regularly, and will very likely increase your traffic by letting Google know who you are and what you provide. (There are more than four kinds of meta tags, but some are less common or not relevant to web marketing).

The four types we’ll discuss here are:

Meta Keywords Attribute – A series of keywords you deem relevant to the page in question.
Title Tag – This is the text you’ll see at the top of your browser. Search engines view this text as the “title” of your page.
Meta Description Attribute – A brief description of the page.
Meta Robots Attribute – An indication to search engine crawlers (robots or “bots”) as to what they should do with the page.
Meta Keywords Attribute
Meta Keywords are an example of a meta tag that doesn’t make much sense to use these days. Years ago, the meta keyword tags may have been beneficial, but not anymore.

Remember back in kindergarten and when your teacher gave you a stern look and said “if you can’t stop using those crayons while I’m talking, I’m going to take them away from you,” and you didn’t listen and, to your shock, they were indeed taken away? That’s sort of what Google did with meta keywords.

Years ago, marketers eager for page views would insert keywords totally unrelated to their pages into their code in an attempt to pirate traffic from the more popular pages, those that actually were about Lindsay Lohan, or whoever was then trending. This was known as “keyword stuffing.” Google eventually got wise to this and decided in the end to devalue the tool. These days Google doesn’t use meta keywords in its ranking algorithm at all, because they’re too easy to abuse.

Title Tag
Title tags, on the other hand, are the most important of all of the meta tags discussed here. These tags have a real impact on search rankings and, perhaps just as importantly, are the only one of the tags we’ll discuss here that are visible to the average user. You’ll find them at the top of your browser (for organic search pages or for PPC landing pages):



This is particularly useful if you want to give the page one primary title for the user but want to clarify or simplify that information for SEO purposes and for the user who’s shuffling multiple tabs on their desktop.

Meta Description Attribute
This is a quite useful meta tag as, very simply, it explains to search engines and (sometimes) searchers themselves what your page is about. Let’s say you were googling the phrase “meta keywords” for example. You might encounter the following results:



It’s important to note that the description tag won’t always show up in the results for a Google search (Google frequently picks a snippet of text from the page itself) but it’s useful in other ways. Google has also stated that keywords in meta descriptions won’t affect your rankings. However, a compelling meta description tag could entice searchers to click through from the SERP to your site, especially if the description includes the keywords they were searching for.

Google’s reasons are somewhat mysterious, but their actions speak loudly: meta keywords don’t much matter anymore, but meta descriptions most certainly do.

Meta Robots Attribute
With this attribute, you’re telling the search engines what to do with your pages:

index/noindex – This tells the engines whether to show your page in search results or not.
follow/nofollow – This tells the engines what to do with links on your pages: whether they should trust and “follow” your links to the next page or not.
We’ve talked about the ways in which meta tags can have a very real impact on search engine marketing. From all of the above, we can extrapolate that:

The Title Tag alone can impact your search engine rankings.
Descriptive tags may encourage users to visit your site.
The meta description may serve as “organic ad text.”

Mohammad Oroji, former FCT Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), says Nigerians should stop politicising farmers/herdsmen clashes and allow government to address the issue properly.
He also warned that movement of herdsmen should not be restricted because the Nigerian constitution did not restrain anyone from going about freely.

Oroji told newsmen on Sunday in Kaduna that “the issue of herdsmen and farmers has now turned into politics because some evil people are benefiting from it for their selfish interests.”

He said it was selfish for anybody to deny the herdsmen the right to freedom of movement as guaranteed by the Constitution, just as it was evil and acceptable for anyone to kill.

“The crisis of herdsmen and farmers is not true but politics, both have related peacefully for over 500 years in Nigeria together.

“The government should take firm decision in addressing the problem; people should stop taking laws into their hands.

“Anyone that starts any form of killings, the law should take its course no matter how highly placed or from whichever tribe.
“No one has the right to kill any person, just as nobody has the right to say stop rearing animals and stop farming, because we are all Nigerians.

“Nigeria is a country of all Nigerians, so no one should be molested; rearing of livestock and farming are all business,’’ he said.

Oroji urged the Federal Government and the National Assembly to take firm decision in addressing the crisis.

“I call on the Federal Government and National Assembly to take a firm decision to address the issue for peace and progress of Nigeria.

“If those who are involved in these atrocities are prosecuted, all the nonsense would stop. It is the only way to address the problem,” he added.

A magistrate court sitting in Lagos has ordered Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike and Linda Ikeji not to air King Tonto Reality TV Show until the case is settled in court.

It was reported that the court banned the duo from airing, showing, disseminating or broadcasting, either through television, blogs or the Internet the person, name, face, image, likeness or picture of King Andre Omodayo Igo Churchill in the King Tonto Reality TV Show produced by Linda Ikeji Media pending the hearing of the originating motion in the suit.

The injunction was reportedly given on the 31st of January, 2018.
The father of the boy, Olakunle Churchill, had gone to court to protect him from undue indecent exposure and exploitation by the mother for personal gain and fame.

Churchill approached the court to seek for an injunction which puts a stop to the respondent from featuring King Andrea in the programme in any capacity as he is regarded him as a minor not fit to make decision for himself.

The judge, Justice P. A Adekomaiya of Lagos magistrate court has ordered the issuance of the verdict to the parties involved.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, says Nigerian Army will conduct more exercises in 2018 to assist civil authorities to deal with internal security challenges in parts of the country

Speaking with newsmen on Friday after leading troops on a 15km Route March, Buratai said Exercises Harbin Kunama III, Crocodile Smile III and Egwu Eke Dance III would also be conducted in 2018.

Exercise Harbin Kunama I and II were conducted in 2016 and 2017, respectively, to deal with the menace of cattle rustling and herdsmen/farmers clashes in parts of North-West and North-Central.

While Crocodile Smile and Egwu Eke Dance were conducted in the Niger Delta and the South-East, respectively, in 2017 to tackle pipeline vandalism, oil theft and piracy, violent agitation and kidnapping.

Asked if there would be a special exercise to address recurring herdsmen/farmers clashes in Benue, Taraba and part of Nasawara State, Buratai said the military was not thinking of a particular situation.

“Well, we are not thinking of any particular situation, we are going to train on general areas which could include that aspect (Benue killings) as well.

“But our focus will be to ensure that security is provided across the country.

“So, definitely, expect Harbin Kunama III; Crocodile Smile III and Egwu Eke Dance III and probably another exercise coming which will be made known at the appropriately time.”

,Buratai charged the troops to be prepared as some of them may be deployed to any part of the country at short notice for operations to assist civil authorities to tackle internal security challenges.

He said he had approved funds for training in 2018 and therefore, they should expect a “robust training” during the period.

“This is to enable us to accomplish the task assigned to us by the Commander-In-Chief,” he added.

New Arsenal signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, will wear two different shirt numbers at the club.

The Albenian has taken over Alexis Sanchez’s No.7 shirt in domestic competitions but will have to wear 77 in the Europa League.

Due to UEFA regulations, the player is not allowed to wear the same number that Sanchez wore before his move to Manchester United in January.

A 17-year-old Junior High School pupil, Emmanuel Gyan, is in police custody for allegedly killing his own mother over his missing mobile phone memory card.

The incident happened in Sefwi-Wiawso District in Western region of Ghana.

Gyan is said to have hit his 52-year-old mother, Faustina Agyeiwaa, several times in the head with a pestle until she fell down, and thereafter he followed up with naked flames in attempts to burn her

Sources said Gyan was arrested and brought to the station by his own father, Isaac Somuah, aged 58, assisted by one Stephen Amponsah.
Somuah and Amponsah told the police that Gyan had accused his mother of taking his memory card, which the mother denied.

They said Emmanuel became furious and started attacking the mother with a pestle by hitting her on the head several times until she died on the spot.

Her body has since been deposited at the Bibiani government hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.

Nigerian striker, Oladapo Afolayan, has signed for English Premier League side West Ham United, after a short trial.

The London club confirmed the deal in a statement on its official website.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he greeted President Muhammadu Buhari at the African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, because of his upbringing.

Obasanjo explained that he had gone round to greet other African leaders present at the Summit and decided to also shake hands with Buhari.

He stated this in Abeokuta, Ogun state while speaking with reporters after registering his membership of the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM), at the Secretariat of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

“I wonder why some Nigerians were worried why I had to pay respect to the Nigerian President. That’s my own upbringing as a well-born and bred Yoruba boy.

“That doesn’t mean that what I have said about the President, which I did not say out of bitterness and hatred has been thrown away. It is clear that the President has performed, in some areas, good enough, in other areas not good and a proper advice which he may take and may not take.

“I didn’t do that out of malice or bad belle. I did it out of my respect for that office and my interest and I hope in your interest and the interest of Buhari in Nigeria.

“I went to him just before the beginning of the AU summit. I had gone round some few other Presidents and should I ignore him? So, I went to my President, greeted him and we joked before Gen. Salami said we should have a group photograph,” Obasanjo said.

Emerson, on Tuesday evening agreed a £25million transfer move to Stamford Bridge.

Leader of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, last night, spoke fiercely against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, asserting that he has failed.

In an interview on AIT and monitored by DAILY POST, Bakare said expectations of Nigerians had not been met by the Federal Government and that he was particularly disappointed about the handling of killings by herdsmen, particularly that of Benue State.

On whether the rampaging herdsmen were foreigners, Bakare said he does not know but that “they are human beings.”

Asked if he agreed with former President Olusegun Obasanjo that Buhari should not seek re-election in 2019, Bakare said it was the president’s constitutional right to seek elective office.

“I’ve not joined any Third Force. I’ve not been part of any force. At the right time, we will know what to do because what I see now is what I can envision in the days to come, it’s that this chicken that you see, they are about to eat, they are on intestine…

“Most of these people don’t really care about the development of the government of our nation…They seek power for self, not for service.

“This is why it hurts me deep, that such crisis will hit Benue state and the leadership of the nation will not move there, go there. Rather, they invited them to come to Abuja.

“The most painful to me was that an American leader would not do that; the British leader would not do that; who are the ones we are emulating. You are not a king, you are a servant of the people and you are to know that you really are serving the interest of your people.

“The Inspector General of Police showed up and he said it’s communal clash…he even said that before he got there! In a decent nation, he would have been fired by now,” he said.

On Buhari’s rumoured bid in 2019, Bakare replied: “It’s his fundamental constitutional right to run or not to run but whether it would now be accepted in the way it was accepted before…He came as military Head of State, he has come as civilian president, Jesus himself is only coming twice…”

A commercial aircraft belonging to Dana Air nearly crashed after hitting the fence of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Friday.

This is coming in less than 24 hours after a chartered aircraft lost its tyres and landing gear at the same airport.


The Dana plane with registration number 5 N-DEV from Port Harcourt, used its left wing to hit a fence while trying to park.

Punch quoted sources at the airport and passengers onboard the flight as saying that no injury was recorded while blaming the aircraft’s pilot for the incident.

The spokesperson for FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, confirmed the development to the newspaper, stating that the plane only hit a noise breaker stationed on the tarmac

She said, “There are these things we put on the air side that we call noise breakers to stop noise and exhaust from getting to people. It is not really a fence, but they are just there like pillars to reduce noise and fumes from exhaust pipes and the plane just scrapped it and continued on its way.


“So there is nothing to worry about the incident. It didn ’t affect the flight , the plane continued and it parked. It was the wing that scrapped the noise breaker and the plane continued until it parked.”

The spokesperson for Dana Air, Ezenwa Okwudili, also told Punch that the firm’s engineers were working on the aircraft to ascertain the extent of the damage on the plane.

He said, “It is the wing tip that was affected and our engineers are looking at it to determine the extent of the damage.

“They will work on it tonight (Friday night) and I don’t think the aircraft was parked where it will obstruct anything. It ’s a tip of the wing and not a serious issue.”
