Sitting for Too Long is Dangerous for Your Health In today’s technologically driven society, people are spending a lot more time sitting down – at home, at work and while travelling. In fact, a 2012 study published in BMJ Open suggests that by reducing sedentary behaviors, such as sitting and television viewing, may have the potential to increase life expectancy in the U.S. Here is why sitting for too long is dangerous for your health. 1. More Belly Fat There is a strong connection between a sedentary lifestyle and an increase in body fat, especially around the waist. , your body will not be able to burn fat. These molecules play a key role in processing the fats and sugars that you consume.
