THE REALITY OF STARTIMES DECODER
Nigerians residing in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Kano and Lagos state are busy counting themselves lucky as they continue to troop into the offices of the NTA-STAR TV NETWORK to purchase their own plug and play decoders which gives them access to the long awaited network

The general consensus among these Nigerians is that they have never seen such technology in Nigeria, which allows you to view digital satellite pay TV channels without installing any dish. This revolutionary technology that has been through into Nigeria through a joint venture partnership between the Africa’s foremost television stations, the Nigerian television authority (NTA) and startimes of the republic of china is the topic of discussion among those who have come in contact with the network.

The euphoria generated by the entry of this “miracle technology” is so much that every day, people living in the other states of the country, where access has yet to be extended are paying visits to the network’s offices and inundating staff with calls to quickly extend service to such states.
The pleasures of being on this network are countless but some subscribers interviewed were willing to share some the benefits with the writer.

Alhaji Bawa a trader in Kano “said ha ba wa these feople referring to (NTA-STAR TV NETWORK) have come to give am hope to millions of Nigerians and to assure them that they don’t have to pay much to view satellite television. Walahi I thank them for coming to Nigeria at this time”
Ben , a student of the University of lagos said “wow, it’s very affordable and stress less just imagines buying a decoder without dish for as low as 9,000 and subscribing with 1,000 only. Nigerian couldn’t ask for more.
Bello a banker in Abuja said “I’m free from dish wahala and bad weather. And installation is plug_and_play”
This is indeed a dream come true!
Technology Market / The Chinesse And Nta (wonders Shall Never End!) by medin: 9:51am On Aug 05, 2010
Nigerian Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Thursday in Abuja commissioned the StarTimes pay television of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)

Representing President Goodluck Jonathan, Namadi Sambo said that the project marks the transition from analogue transmission to digital transmission in Nigeria.

Namadi noted the crucial role the pay television would play in repositioning the image of Nigeria at home and abroad, especially at this time that Nigeria was embarking on a rebranding programme and called on Nigerians to support the initiative.

According to him, the new television project is in a better position to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultures and image abroad.

He commended the NTA and its Chinese partners for making the Pay TV channels affordable, since according to him, the monthly charge by the private pay channels in the country could be used to pay for 10 families in the new Pay TV.

The Pay TV would operate over 38 channels with an archival system to store and retrieve information for up to 1000 years.

Nigerian television has gone digital with the help of startimes, ahead of the 2015 deadline set for African countries to migrate to digital transmission from analogue transmission by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

The services of the station could only be received in Abuja, Kano and Lagos for now and would soon be extended to more cities in Nigeria.

Imagine a decoder for as low as N9, 000 and subcription for N1 000, This is hope for many Nigerians
