RobinHez: Medwhite's formula for finding the weight of a body outside space is a good one. Its also faster. He gives it as; W1R12 =W2R22
Previously, I'd first find the mass, then find g2 and finally find the weight...too boring! But I still love physics! big bro...the formula doesn't apply to all questions...it is used when comparing the weight of a body in diff radius on the earth. Check out this one. g=go * w^2 where w= Re/Re + h g=go [(Re)^2/(Re+h)^2] go =A due to gravity of earth g=A due to gravity due to increase in height. Re radius of of earth. h= altitude or height at which a body is placed. that formula is used to get the change in A due to gravity due to increase in height.... back to my first sentence, that formula Wr2=wr2. can't solve this question... At what distance from the earth surface would the weight of a body be halved?? |
