A Twitter user simply identified as @winnie_wesley has taken to the platform to narrate how officers of the Special Armed Robbery squad beat up a student till he passed out.

According to her narration, the student named Richard was alleged to have been in possession of a stolen phone which he bought from someone.

@winnie_wesley made it known that the phone in question was not even worth ten thousand Naira.

That phone is not more 10k, he was subconscious and the refused to release him to his mother to treat him..

He is to resume school next week, though the stolen phone was used to threaten someone but at least they should have released him for treatment immediately he became subconscious, he family is taking the matter to court sha!! I’m happy

Senate Takes Action On Death Of Female Corps Member Killed By Policeman

The Nigerian Senate has resolved to investigate the circumstances surround the death of Miss Linda Angela Igwetu, the NYSC Corper who was allegedly shot by a Police Officer two nights ago.

Senator Atai Aidoko, citing Order 42 and 52, raised the issue, stating that while on her way home with her friends, the corper was shot and rushed to Garki hospital, Abuja but was not treated because they needed a police report.

Commenting on the Motion, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, said:



“There are two issues here. One, is how could this have happened? How could the officer mistakenly or otherwise have shot in such a way that led to this young ladies death?

“Secondly, we have passed this Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Act, and the President assented to it on the 30th of December 2017.

“Until we start holding people accountable to these kinds of incidents, they will not stop. What is the point of us passing a Bill, and the President assenting to it, then it becomes law, and still, people will decide that they will not treat a patient.

“Is it that they are not well-informed? Is it that they were not aware that such a law exists? There are a number of issues that we need to address.

“Every Nigerian life is important. Especially young ones that are just about to start their own lives and careers. This is a loss that could have been avoided.”

The Senate resolved to:

Mandate its Committee on Youth and Sports to investigate the death of the NYSC Corper; mandate its Committee on Health to investigate the non-treatment of the patient, and; mandate its Committee on Police Affairs to investigate the cause of the incident.

All three Committees have been directed to report back to the Senate in 2-weeks.

In a quite shocking video footage making the rounds right about the time of filing this post, a young boy has been seen in the video trying to block the leakage of a particular NNPC fuel tanker in Lagos.

This comes just few days after Nigerians were sent to mourning following the devastating tanker explosion incident that claimed lots of lives at the Otedola bridge in Lagos.

In the video, the young man is clearly seen trying to block the leakage of the fuel tank – which is carrying a volume of thousands of litres of highly flammable liquid – with a cloth while the tanker is on motion on a busy road.

The video has obviously caused a stir online as some presume that the liquid content in the tanker just might not be petroleum… watch below and tell us what you think,

"I get insulted for looking like Mercy Johnson" – Keira HewatchNollywood actress, Keira Watch, in an interview with Sunday Punch talked about how her resemblance with fellow actress Mercy Johnson, has not only brought her blessings but sometimes it exposes her to some derogatory comments from people.

Initially, I didn’t enjoy the support of my parents because they are religious people and they believed that the industry was corrupt and immoral. They felt it was not a place for a Christian lady to be in. I understood their point of view but I had to do what I had always wanted to do.

I respect and love my parents but I also have to take charge of my life. Eventually, they came to see that and they have been very supportive of my career.

While speaking on her moment of breakthrough in the Industry, Keira Hewatch said:

I became well-known after I featured in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby, but I have done a few films that have gone straight to online television. Other movies I have starred in include In the Name of Trust, Murder at Prime Suites, Dinner, Lekki Housewives and Fifty, among others.

How her resemblance with Mercy Johnson has helped her career:

I used to get insulted for looking like Mercy Johnson. The last time I got insulted was when I starred in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby. Since that time, I have not experienced such. Back then, it made me sad because I was being insulted based on something I did not understand.

Mercy Johnson is a beautiful woman and for anyone to compare us is really something to be thankful for.

Celebrity stylist and mum of two, Toyin Lawani, has spoken out in defense of DBanj’s wife, Lineo, who has been widely criticized and blamed for the death of their one year old son, Daniel.



Since the news broke online last night, some Nigerians heaped the blame on her for being careless. They attributed the death of the one year old to negligence on the part of Lineo, his mother.

Toyin in a post shared on her IG page, asked that Lineo should be given a break and that these unfortunate things happen. She narrated the story of how her son, Tenor, almost drowned in a pool where she had gone to work while Tenor was being looked after by her nanny. She said that incident does not in anyway make her a bad mother.

For over four decades, popular actor Yemi Solade has wormed his way into the hearts of Nigerians with his acting prowess. However, it seems the actor is fed up of Nigeria and plans on relocating to another country with his family.



“For the first time in a long while, I gave up on Nigeria. I might decide to relocate to another country and this is what I always criticise my colleagues for. Nigeria is killing me. I have been so patriotic, but I think I have to face the reality now. I have a job that is not putting meals on my table the way it should and I don’t want my children to suffer. It is terrible if we continue to lose our best minds to other countries. I don’t want to have money like Femi Otedola; I don’t pray for it and I don’t need it at my age. All I need are the basic things in life, which I can use to take care of myself, my wife and my children.

“I struggle to get good jobs; I have done my best. I should have left Nigeria 20 years ago, but I stayed to contribute my quota to its development. I am getting older; I am older than some of the governors in Nigeria and I cannot be running to them for survival. I cannot steal money like some people do and we all know that stealing is not good. I pay my bills with the pay I get from producers, but it is tiny. I am bleeding inwards right now and it is not good for my age. I have to begin to look elsewhere for survival,” he said.



Solade noted that although some of his colleagues seem to do well for themselves, they may be into other things asides from acting. “I am a thoroughbred professional. I don’t know what my colleagues do, though I see most of them running after people in government. I cannot serve one or two senators who will probably give me a jeep or any other car. Anytime I want to travel, the senator takes care of my ticket also. But that is not my orientation. I don’t need to run to anyone when I have a job. There is no way anyone will tell me that an actor who drives a luxury car gets the money from acting. Inasmuch as I don’t want to go into details, we all know this. Once our profession is attractive, actors don’t need to struggle to pay their bills. I have been an actor for over four decades; so, if I ask for N2m for a role, is it too much? Wizkid and Davido only perform on stage for a few minutes and they attract millions of naira. I am happy for these young men, but it is not the case for actors who spend long hours on set. The Yoruba arm of the industry is not as lucrative as you think. For me, I just stick to the job and I depend on whatever I earn as an actor from producers. From the look of things, the few of us who started early in the industry are the ones suffering. I am happy for the likes of Odunlade Adekola, who came afterwards and they feel he is better. Since the younger people share the resources with each other, what do I do? I am not a producer and I don’t think there is anything wrong about that. Once a producer calls you and you demand a certain amount, they run away and bring in their untrained friends. The actors who are getting it right should tell us how they have been able to live very comfortable. I have people that I go to for one help or the other, but they trivialise it and I can’t be begging you because I want you to invest in a project. Once you go to them for assistance, they can ask you to link them up with one actress,” the thespian said.

A Nigerian man identified as Obazie Sunday has taken to the social media to narrate his experience with a new generation bank that mistakenly credited him with cash way above the amount he deposited.



According to the man, he made a deposit of N167,000 but was surprised to be credited later in the day with N1,670,000.





He returned the cash to the bank, but was surprised as the manager at the branch and other staff did not even commend him for what he did.

Early this month, June 5, 2018

I went to the bank,(name withheld) to deposit 167000. I did the normal transaction and left.

Hours later, i saw an alert of 1,670,000. I was shocked and was tensed, because i have never handled that sum before. I thought it was a dummy sum, so i transferred 500,000 out ,to my other account.



I confided in a school bro, who told me to await the bank call, and told me not to tell anyone else.When i got home(8-9pm), i got a call from a banker there.

He said it was a mistake,and i should transfer the money to an account he would provide. My mind drifted to bankers siphoning money ,and i told him i’d rather come see the bank manager the following day.

He gave the bank manager the phone or i’d rather say a man who claimed to be the bank manager.

He said i should transfer the money, of which i bluntly refused ,and decided to go to their head office. I hung up,and switched off my phone ,to stop their incessant calls.

Then the next day, the banker called me, and pleaded that they could not balance their books, because of the fund in my account. And he said they did sack them, before 12:00pm if they dont.

I knw about the labour market, and how difficult it is to get jobs. So i told him i’d return the 500,000 which i transferr



I knw it wasnt scam or fraud bacause i did not transfer the money. They unfroze my account , so i could send and recieve cash. They also used the bank reversal technique.

I thought i was given the 4000 as a way of compensating me tho. So.i just transferred the 171,000 out of the account.

The next week or probably friday, cash was sent to the account, so i went to the bank to cash it out.

When i got there, they were just looking at mend the only thing i heard them say was”that is the boy”. Not even a soul came to say thank you.

I was not mad ,and i thought they saw no need in saying thank you, since they already said it in cash.

I withdrew the money from the bank, and when they wanted to give me the money, the “bank manager” told the cashier to take the 4000 out of it..

I was now given the balance.. I was very mad tho, but being an introvert, i was cool and i left the bank.I transferred over a million naira back, and a thank you was not given.

I was hurt, because then i had needs and wants. But i was not tempted to use the money.

Even if it happens again, i will not hesitate to be that good person.

The handlers of ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina Oyenobi, have reacted to reports by an online television platform that she does not have a mind of her own.





It was alleged that the management team controlled the 22-year-old lady like a baby during the interview.

A member of the management team, who spoke to Sunday Scoop on condition of anonymity, said they had informed the interviewer earlier that they didn’t want questions on her sexual intercourse or relationship with Miracle during the Big Brother Naija reality show.

“We have been managing Nina since she left the reality show. Before the interview commenced, we told them not to ask Nina questions on sex and they agreed to that. But the lady, who interviewed her, kept asking questions on her relationship with Miracle and she became uncomfortable. Though Nina was ready to reply the questions, we had to give her signs on what to say and they became angry. We did not control her as claimed; we just wanted to control what they put out since she is our client.”

On why Nina did not react to the viral report, the source added;

Earlier today, filmmaker, Niyi Akinmolayan, shared a post on his IG page in which he stated that some people just might have committed suicide because they are done with the world and not out of depression.





He shared his opinion about suicide in the wake of the death of two international celebrities, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdian who both committed suicide a week apart.



Banky W felt Niyi’s opinion on suicide is disgusting and shouldn’t have been aired as it was very insensitive to the families and loved ones the suicide victims left behind.

Niyi on the other hand is insisting that suicide victims should not be painted in a bad light when they are gone because some of them might have just taken the decision in good faith.
