I’ve been using Airtel ZLT ODU since December, And it was working fine. Occasional downtime ranging from minutes to hours existed. But I was okay with that.



Since March 1st however, the services just went bad. Daytime is 1mbps to max 20mbps(with ping of 500-1500ms - like WTF)


It’s a new subscription (so I haven’t used 1tb yet)
The ODU shows green - that’s “good signal”


However, Around 1am to 6am - it gets to 20 - 50mbps(with ping 28-43ms)

I’ve been sending emails and even complaining on Twitter.

I even reported to NCC: Still no solution.

Has anyone been able to get help or fix this?

I saw this somewhere about Airtel

The guy was suggesting that if you hit 1tb and speed gets throttled, you can call Airtel office to reset it, or you do it yourself.

However MTN now has 50mbps for 40k no FUP(it's not up to a month, so the fup isn't truly confirmed yet)(at least MTN claims no FUP)

If Airtel keeps doing the fup stuff, they might lose customers with need for more than 1tb monthly.

1. Setup Smartcash with an Airtel Number
2. Transfer money from your bank to that phone number as the account number and 'Smartcash' as the recipient bank.
3. Setup myAirtel account with an Airtel Number (preferably the same one as your ODU SIM, I don't know how it looks like when you use a different number)
4. Select Buy Bundle
5. Select the ODU number you want to buy for. If you signed up with your ODU number, it auto-selects that one. Otherwise input your ODU phone number.
6. Select your desired Data Pack
7. Select Smartcash. It should auto-select the same number as your myAirtel app. If you use a different number for sSmartcash, edit the number there.
8. Proceed to pay.
9. Discount should appear in Smartcash immediately payment goes through.
10. Buy mobile phone data with that bonus, rinse and repeat 🤣

Like if try renewing your the "My Airtel app", then use "Smartcash" to pay you'll still receive a 10% discount? Even if you didn't initiate the process from the Smartcash app?

I already had a tweaked Mifi and it's saved the 70k I could have spent on power bank and cord for the ODU

Login to my airtel app with your ODU number or alternate number, load airtime onto your ODU number through smartcash, you get your 10% cash back, then do your sub on my airtel app with airtime , that’s how I always renew my sub with 10% off the price

There is a way to change it yourself. I think someone drop a link earlier which I believe should work. I have done something exactly like that to change my alternate number before but with different link. I would have drop the link but bot here will delete the comment

Facing the same issue. I can understand why I can't get it send to my MTN number but I can't get it sent to my mail either.

Just finished a phone call with a customer care, there's really no other choice than to go to their office and change the number to an Airtel number

My problem is that - they should stop doing registration with MTN numbers.

and do forgot password, you will get otp in your email. then you reset the password and login and change the alternate mobile number

Just take note of your ODU number, go to any road side sim registration shop and do a SIM swap to a physical sim, then get a pocket router that has been tweaked to work with the router plans and you are good to go
