They still pay depending on traffic and your niche. If you are in health, finance or education/scholarships. Just focus on profitable local niches with high volume + decent advertiser competition. News sites are overcrowded but worth a try if you know your SEO skills.

SportsGerrard: 5 Teams Can Challenge Liverpool Next Season by Melancho(op): 7:41pm On Jun 04, 2025
Steven Gerrard says Liverpool will be ‘well aware’ of the threat of five other clubs ahead of next season’s Premier League title race.

Gerrard’s former club made light work of last season’s title race, finishing 10 points ahead of their nearest rivals as they clinched the English league title for the 20th time.

Many pundits tipped Liverpool to struggle following Jurgen Klopp’s emotional departure but Arne Slot’s side secured the Premier League trophy with four games to spare.

Gerrard says Liverpool will be ‘the team to catch’ again next season but believes they could face competition from up to five rivals.

‘It’s the most difficult league in the world,’ Gerrard, who failed to win the Premier League during his 17-year spell at Anfield, told TNT Sports.

‘Liverpool will be well aware that Man City are going to come back, Arsenal are looking stronger again, the likes of Chelsea are building nicely, Newcastle, Aston Villa are coming in behind.

‘Liverpool will be well aware that they’re going to be the ones that are hunted now. But evidence suggests that Liverpool are going to be strong in the transfer market, so Liverpool are the team to catch for sure.’

Gerrard, one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, is particularly ‘wary’ of a potentially resurgent Manchester City following their drop-off last season.

He added: ‘I think you’ve got to be wary of Man City and Guardiola, who is the best manager in the world.

‘They’ve done it four years on the spin, they lost Rodri, which was a big blow to them.

‘I think with a fully fit squad, and they’re going to recruit as well, the team that finishes above City will win it again and hopefully, that’s Liverpool.’

Liverpool’s hopes of retaining the Premier League trophy have been boosted by Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new deals at the club.

Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all entered the final few months of their contracts at Anfield but only Alexander-Arnold will be leaving this summer.

‘They’re two very important players,’ Gerrard said on Salah and Van Dijk. ‘Both world-class, both in peak condition.

‘It was so important, arguably going to be the two most important signings in the next three to four years, because we want to continue to build on this league now and hopefully post more silverware in the next season.

‘I think evidence suggests that he [Salah] is very consistent. He’s scored goals every year he’s been at Liverpool.

‘We all know his professionalism. He lives and breathes the game, he’s got the talent and he’s got the hunger to continue to do so, and I’ve got every confidence in him.’

Liverpool are now looking to bolster Slot’s squad further, having already signed Netherlands defender Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds are also in talks to sign Frimpong’s former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz, who could end up costing more than £100m.

Asked about Liverpool’s transfer plans, Gerrard said: ‘There are rumours obviously, Florian Wirtz. A big talent, who’s done fantastic for Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen.

PoliticsPresident Tinubu Confers CFR On Bill Gates by Melancho(op): 7:20pm On Jun 04, 2025
Nigeria has conferred its prestigious Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) honor on Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the national award at a state event in Abuja, commending Gates for his enduring commitment to global health, education, digital innovation, and agricultural development.

“Today, I conferred the Nigerian National Honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Mr Bill Gates @BillGates in recognition of his decades-long commitment to improving lives through interventions in global health & polio eradication, education, digital innovation, and agricultural development, especially in Nigeria and across Africa.

‘’Bill Gates’ contributions have saved millions through the Gates Foundation @gatesfoundation and many such initiatives, uplifted communities, and inspired global action.’’

The president emphasized that Nigeria remains open to partnerships that invest in its people and drive progress.

The award comes as Gates continues to scale the Foundation’s work across Africa. He reaffirmed the organization’s pledge to support primary health care, agricultural resilience, and digital transformation, particularly in countries grappling with climate challenges, disease burden, and youth unemployment.

Nigeria holds a unique place in Gates’ philanthropic roadmap. At the 2024 NutriVision Dialogue in Abuja, Gates described Nigeria as “the largest recipient of the Foundation’s intervention funds in Africa”, citing the country’s large population and pressing development needs. “Over the years, we’ve invested billions in Nigeria,” he said.

In 2024 alone, the Foundation announced a $5.6 million donation for flood relief, agricultural reforms, and support for the health sector. That same year, it entered into a partnership with Nigeria’s federal government to launch the AI Scaling Hub, with $7.5 million in funding and technical expertise from the Gates Foundation.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, revealed the deal after a strategic meeting in Abuja with Gates and the Foundation team. The AI initiative aims to boost Nigeria’s capacity to leverage technology for development and aligns with Gates’ belief that innovation must serve the world’s most vulnerable.

What to Know: Gates’ Ongoing Support for Nigeria
Health: Gates has invested heavily in eradicating polio, measles, and malaria, and improving access to vaccines and maternal healthcare.
Agriculture: Support for agricultural reforms has helped smallholder farmers build resilience against food insecurity and climate disruptions.
AI Hub: In 2024, the Gates Foundation pledged $7.5 million for the creation of Nigeria’s AI Scaling Hub, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications.

Flood Relief: The Foundation provided $5.6 million to address the devastating effects of floods and reinforce disaster preparedness.
In the global context, Nigeria’s recognition of Gates follows a broader trend: the Gates Foundation has raised its presence in key global regions, notably the U.S., U.K., France, and several African countries, adjusting its strategic funding to meet rising healthcare and development challenges.

FamilyInternational Women's Day 2025: Celebrating Progress & Recognizing Challenges by Melancho(op): 2:03pm On Mar 08, 2025
International Women's Day (IWD), celebrated annually on March 8, serves as a global platform to honor the achievements of women, raise awareness about gender disparities, and advocate for accelerated gender parity. Originating in the early 20th century from labor movements in North America and Europe, IWD has evolved into a worldwide observance recognized by the United Nations in 1977. Each year, it brings together individuals, organizations, and governments to reflect on progress made and to renew commitments toward achieving gender equality.

Historical Context

The roots of International Women's Day trace back to 1908 when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter working hours, better pay, and voting rights. The following year, the Socialist Party of America declared the first National Woman's Day. In 1910, at the International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen, the idea of an international day for women was proposed, leading to the first IWD celebrations in several countries in 1911. The day gained momentum over the decades, with the United Nations officially recognizing it in 1977, thereby solidifying its global significance.

Themes and Focus Areas

Each year, IWD adopts a specific theme to highlight particular aspects of gender equality. In 2025, the theme is "Accelerate Action," emphasizing the urgency in addressing persistent gender disparities across various sectors. This theme calls for swift and decisive measures to ensure that the progress made in recent years is not only sustained but also amplified.

Global Observances and Actions

International Women's Day is marked by a diverse array of events and activities worldwide, reflecting the unique cultural, social, and political contexts of each region. These observances range from peaceful rallies and marches advocating for women's rights to educational seminars, art exhibitions, and community gatherings celebrating women's contributions.

Japan: Activists have utilized IWD to advocate for legal reforms, such as the option for married couples to retain separate surnames, challenging traditional norms that require women to adopt their husband's name.

Kosovo: Demonstrations have been organized to protest domestic violence, with women demanding more robust protections and legal frameworks to ensure their safety and rights.

Philippines: Women's groups have rallied for better employment opportunities and equitable wages, highlighting the economic challenges faced by women in the workforce.

Tanzania: Political events have been held to recognize and support women's leadership, with figures like President Samia Suluhu Hassan emphasizing peaceful governance and women's empowerment.

Turkey: Despite official bans, women have marched to advocate for their rights and to bring attention to issues exacerbated by national crises, such as natural disasters, underscoring the resilience and determination of women's movements.

Challenges and Setbacks

While significant strides have been made in advancing women's rights, numerous challenges persist. Recent years have witnessed setbacks that threaten to reverse hard-won gains:

Reproductive Rights: In some countries, legislative changes have curtailed women's access to reproductive health services, igniting global debates and protests.

Gender-Based Violence: Reports indicate a troubling increase in violence against women, exacerbated by factors such as economic instability and social unrest.

Economic Disparities: The gender pay gap remains a pressing issue, with women disproportionately represented in lower-paying jobs and facing barriers to career advancement.

The Path Forward: Accelerating Action

The 2025 theme, "Accelerate Action," calls for intensified efforts across multiple domains:

Policy and Legislation: Governments must enact and enforce laws that protect women's rights, promote equal opportunities, and address systemic discrimination.

Economic Empowerment: Investing in women's education, entrepreneurship, and equitable pay structures is crucial for sustainable development and economic growth.

Healthcare Access: Ensuring comprehensive healthcare services, including reproductive health, is vital for women's well-being and autonomy.

Education and Awareness: Educational initiatives that challenge gender stereotypes and promote respectful relationships are foundational to cultural change.

Support Systems: Establishing robust support networks for survivors of gender-based violence, including legal aid and counseling services, is essential for recovery and empowerment.

Local Initiatives: International Women's Day Events in Lagos, Nigeria

In Lagos, Nigeria, International Women's Day 2025 is being commemorated with various events aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality:

International Women's Day Conference (1st Edition): Scheduled for March 15 at Hard Rock Cafe, this conference will bring together women from diverse backgrounds to discuss strategies for accelerating action toward gender equality.

Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk 2025: This event offers an opportunity for emerging women leaders to engage with established mentors, fostering a supportive environment for personal and professional growth.

These events reflect the city's commitment to advancing women's rights and creating platforms for meaningful dialogue and mentorship.

Conclusion

International Women's Day serves as both a celebration of the progress made toward gender equality and a reminder of the work that still lies ahead. The 2025 theme, "Accelerate Action," emphasizes the need for swift and decisive measures to address persistent disparities. By uniting efforts at the global, national, and local levels, we can create a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive, free from discrimination and bias. As we commemorate this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable society for all.
