Objectivist04:

It all boils down to the government, leave the contractors alone.

Ugwuanyi with all his shortcomings never slept on a project, he starts and completes without wasting time,
Milliken hill didn't take him up to a year, penoks to T junction less than a year,
T junction flyover was completed within a year.
OPI junction nsukka road as massive as it is was done in less than two years.

All the short short streets Mba started at Abakpa are all abandoned, do you think if the contractors were paid and ordered to complete the work within shortest time possible that they won't ?
1 year is too much time for a lot of these projects is my point. Peter Mbah started construction in October, many of those are less than 2km, why are they taking up to a year?

Also, all the contractors being used for projects in this state needs to be ashamed of themselves if they're getting paid. Such sluggish work, why are they so slow? I don't really understand the logistics of construction but the contractors in Abia work much much faster for Otti.

I believe that 9th mile area has a lot of potential as Enugu's industrial powerhouse, especially with the free trade zone there. How did Gburus stay 8 years without attracting any significant investment to that free trade zone, a free trade zone Sullivan fought so hard to get.

Is this current government doing anything to harness the potential of that place? I think I've heard Mbah make allusions to maximizing the potential of that area but I've seen nothing tangible.

The US and France have no interest in fighting insurgency in the region. I suspect that they are actually the sponsors. Their only interest is in the Uranium and crude oil deposit in the region. But the naive ones like you think they mean well.
Fight insurgency ke, are they your country's millitary? Sponsor insurgency where it'll threaten their countrymen? What countries with American bases has issues with insurgency?

Anyway, I advocate for a base because of the development and the investment it would bring.

Some private power plant in Lagos should give light to other state?
Do you think it's every area in Lagos that enjoys 24hrs light?
I'm just trying to prove it to you that if it's by electricity scale tinubu would be a better option for president compared to Peter obi as you were supposing.
Mind you, a constant light in Lagos will be more productive for Nigeria than a constant light in Anambra. You invest in where you'll get your money not investing with emotions "it's not fair".
Distribution and generation is not the same thing. Until few weeks to end of Buhari's tenure electricity generation was in the exclusive list

Lack of water has really damaged Enugu's image as a city. People now see it as a glorified village. Mbah has not done enough to change the situation. Water trucks can be seen everywhere selling without any price control from the government. It is shameful that Mbah has abdicated his responsibilities.
Water trucks were not in Enugu before Mbah abi wetin be this nonsense?

You mean the terrorist den called mammy market?.
A market is not development, well, not just a market. I mean schools, hospitals, bars, hotels, access roads, convenience stores, filling stations, industries, and yes, markets. A lot of things open in other to cater to soldiers. There's also the added benefit of improved security.

But again, as Nigerian soldiers are usually underpaid I don't know how much development a small barracks will attract, if you discount amenities provided by the government

It's very sad that Enugu transitioned from the populist pork barrel of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to a regime that is clearly lost on the issues confronting the governed or is bereft of ideas on how to tackle them. I previously based my criticism of the government of Peter Mba on his total neglect of my own hometown on all fronts but extortionate taxation, but after watching Mba himself list the Navy's project in Ụzọ Uwanị and the Army's mini barrack in Eha Amufu as achievements of his administration, I realised nothing is actually happening in the entire length and breadth of our dear state.
The dearth of pictures/activities in this thread is no coincidence. Nothing is happening in Enugu State. Statistics keep coming out every day, and they all affirm that Enugu is in a very disastrous, downward trajectory. The next election is still very far, so we can't really hope on that to correct the mistake of last year's electoral heist because the damage just might be too much. Peter Mba must deliver on his promises to Ndị Enugu, or we drag him till his office becomes too stuffy for his blue suits.
Millitary bases attract development around where they're located sha. that and security. Nigerian soldiers too poor sha so might not apply to Nigeria

Anyone that travels interstate knows that police, army are extorting(stealing) money from motorists transporting goods.
But this agency decided not to talk about that part.
You expected a government agency to say that in public?

Smart school is least of our problems in this state, why not make the existing schools smart instead of waisting money to construct new schools,
For example there are about 10 government owned primary schools in my ward and none has up to 100 pupils as most parents send their wards to private schools , why not convert one of the schools to smart school ?
As for water, I put it to you that the work done so far is less than 50% l don't see some parts of Nike getting water even in the next two years.
Sometimes it's hard to retrofit things if the original is fundamentally flawed. But yeah, I also have reservations about constructing new schools when the existing ones have not been properly equipped

Mbah trusted an Austrian who did a poor job in estimating the amount of work to be done.

The challenge with Enugu water problem is a huge one that will take about 30 months from now to get water to all parts of Enugu.

Currently, the production part has been solved (We are producing about 2 million litres of water daily).

The challenge now is distribution. Transmitting water from 9th mile to all parts of Enugu will involve changing most pipes and pumps which is expensive and time consuming but we will get it done
I always knew the 6 months stuff was impossible, still, I was impressed seeing him try hard. It's one thing to promise and only nonchalantly try to accomplish it, it's another to try really hard only to see your initial estimate was not based in reality. I still see a lot of water projects going on

I complained a few weeks ago about how dirty parts of Enugu looked....esp' Agbani road! So i clicked on this clip more in hope than expectation of seeing a marked improvement in sanitation levels of the city! I'm pleasantly surprised at the vast improvements shown! The roads look well swept and clear of sand/dust/sediment, and the gutters are cleared of rubbish! Also, there's a noticeable effort put into maintaining the greenery on the median and roadsides. The Agbani road i complained about looks cleaner too! So the state gov't is to be commended on this!

In the past when anyone wants to show Enugu, they always focus on Indepence layout, which being a GRA and highbrow area is expected to be neat, besides that, it doesn't really represent Enugu seeing as it's only about 10% of the entire city!

The areas that need a little more work are: the traffic and street lights that are vandalised of dead need to be attended to; the state gov't should ensure all trafic lights are obeyed...they're not installed just for fancy; greenery on the medians need to be nurtured and maintained a bit better as there are quite a lot of bald/patchy spots; and it looks like the road markings are fading on some roads. Besides these few minor issues, everything else looks ok!

I hope they bring some of the sanitation to Abakpa. Most places still lack proper waste management
