CNN article says Ukraine is averaging 35,000/month Russian kills. You think Putin has 35k humans a month to sacrifice?
Obviously Russia is struggling in Ukraine regardless of what Putin's fan boys say here on nairaland.

The thing though is Nigeria cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and allow large number of its citizens get involved and become verse in drone usage and assembly.

Many of the FPV drones are assembled in cottage facotries no bigger than a sitting room.

It could change the nature and severity of insecurity in Nigeria if left unchecked. A security system that is currently struggling with low tech banditry will struggle more if FPV drones get into the mix.
PoliticsNigerians Recruitment For War In Ukraine - FG Needs To Step Up by Memorychip(op): 3:41pm On May 28
It is no longer a secret that Russia has been operating recruitment networks across parts of Africa, presenting opportunities such as scholarships, employment, or better economic prospects, only for many recruits to reportedly end up in frontline combat roles in Ukraine or in harsh conditions within military-related production facilities, including drone assembly lines.

Several African governments have publicly expressed concern over these activities and, in some cases, have taken steps to disrupt or investigate such recruitment operations including some very close allies of Russia on the continent.

However, there appears to be very little visible response from the our own government which is surprising giving that there is growing reports and social media evidence suggesting that Nigerians are increasingly be involved in these operations.

Personally, I believe Russia should rely on its own citizens to prosecute its war, africans should not be used as pawns for anyones war.

Beyond the moral and geopolitical concerns, there is also a direct long-term security risk for Africa, particularly Nigeria, which is already dealing with a fragile security conditions, armed groups, and ideologically or economically motivated violence.

When the conflict eventually cools down or comes to an end, there is a real possibility that individuals with frontline combat exposure and experience in low-cost drone warfare or assembly could return to Nigeria without any form of monitoring, rehabilitation, or reintegration support.

This could significantly alter the nature and sophistication of Nigeria’s existing security threats. In addition, many of these individuals may return with untreated psychological trauma or PTSD, creating further risks for both families and communities.

The Nigerian government should take this issue far more seriously by visibly curbing suspicious recruitment networks, tracking those involved, cooperating with international partners where necessary, and putting measures in place to monitor and support returning individuals before the situation develops into a larger national security problem.

Where did Kier Starmer and the Labour Party go wrong That they are losing trust of voters so rapidly.
Kier is a tainted brand. The earlier labour drops him, the better for them.

He has got to decide the which part he belongs - left or right. The result is good - sends labour on a soul searching journey and gives the larger population a taste of what a reform government will look like.

Places like Kent that have experienced being Reform run councils were not so excited to go down that route this time around. It's good other councils get the chance also, perhaps Reform solves their problems perhaps not.

Shabana Madmood's wards were also swept clean by the Greens.

Kemi took a big L but continues selling a fantasy of a conservative come back.

Overall, a fair result.

With the new tax year, how are folks planning to utilise their tax-sheltered accounts?

I remember last year, someone filled his ISA on 6th April and bought a global fund. That was during Trumps tarrif market selloff- in a short period, he was well in the positive.

I thought about that this year as the markets were down due to Trumps Iran war. Would we have a v-shaped recovery again?
Well, if investing for the long-term, these small moves don't really matter and its said that if one has a lump sum, a one off buy beats piecemeal investing in majority of cases.
Trump's erraticness is now normalise and factored in the market. I personally do not see a very steep V but still expect a mild V once an agreement is signed with Iran

Africa need to sit up. Why is America, Asia or other European countries not been considered as a dumping ground for these lots. This was how slave trade started because the leaders allowed it. If this goes through, a time will come when tales of how Africa was a dumping ground for unwanted people will be told just like tales of slave trade is been told now.
"Unwanted" is subjective - if the money is good , they pass a security and health check, why not?

If only they reduced the budget for hiring propagandists (including here on nairaland) and increase the one for technocrats, they may actually get things done well.

People don't understand the consequences of nepotism and tribalism.,. This are the product... This soldiers are taught and trained by people who occupy those position simply by nepotism and tribalism that's all

I have seen videos of Nigerian soldiers in action, and there is absolutely no evidence of tactical training what so ever

It you capture 40 random boys on the streets and give them ak*47 they would perform far better than random 40 Nigerian soldiers

Under PDP we used to hear Heads must role, people got sacked for things like this
It's a big shame. Even the CO was gunned down.

This was not an attack on troops-in-transit or on the battle field in some unfamair terrian. This was an attack on several military outposts.

Outposts that should be well fortified with technical, signit and human intelligence.

The amount of insurgents that would be needed to overrun such outposts would be in the 100s.

How is it possible that such movements are not picked up well in advanced.

Big shame! Rip to the soldiers - their lives are being wasted

Thank God for Greens. They and Reform abi Restore may help safeguard things.
I can understand Reform and Labour suggesting that “sectarianism” was the reason for their loss, even though Reform has been campaigning there for quite some time.

I’m not sure that excuse works for Kemi, though, considering her party managed only about 700 votes out of a possible 40,000+.

Kemi added more damage to that party when she took on the role with what “Nigel-lite” behaviour at the start. Fortunately for her, there are always different excuses available when the party performs poorly.

The Tories are watching the complete rot of their “banana”, while Kemi is telling them it’s simply a sign that the “banana” is ripening.

[quote author=Goke7 post=138440436]And the blame continues 😂 wetin musa no go see again for gate!

UK is almost certainly heading towards its Trumpian era. Anyone with a visa would be wise to take a brace position and leave the door back home open.

Be it as it may, the UK and most of the West is largely a fading system and immigrants are not to blame for its fading glory.

I am convinced in a decade or two at most Africa will turn a corner and we will have people from Europe looking to settle in Africa to escape life in Europe much as they are already starting to flock to Asia and the Middle East for a better live themselves.

We are not to blame for the West's ageing population, we are not to blame for its dying industrial base, we are not to blame for citizens who chose to live on benefits rather than work, we are not to blame for its slowing growth rate, we are not to blame for its people increasing disillusioned with its economic decline.

We largely do the thankless work that many dont want to do because of its low pay or demanding hours without any recourse to funds.

Yet the politicians and those with influence constantly drum to the public that we are vagrants here to live on benefits when in reality we pay taxes for which we are barred from its direct benefit, we pay health surcharges many of us do not use, they increase visa fees annually at ridiculous rates far beyond inflation and yet we do not complain. Many of us struggle to switch jobs or employers because of various hurdles and the rhetoric the politicians and homeoffice have been feeding into the system, yet we get blamed for not showing enough productivity and economic mobility...utter bullshit!

They shoot themselves in the foot by limiting our potential to do more for them than we currently do. Many of us had plans to invest in the real estate business here or invest in the real sector, but have been forced to put brakes to everything, even home improvements we no longer do anything expensive. Not allowed to run a business on a SWV, struggle to switich to higher paying roles.

The focus now is to do the best you can with what opportunity we reach here while mantaining the flexibility to leave and move whatever we have accumulated here in an orderly manner if the system becomes too toxic.

As someone said, the british passport is not one to heaven.

Nice writeup. What is your advice about contributory state pension? Is it advisable to opt out now? Just a few years in
I think state pension is underpinned by NI. You cant opt out.

Work place is possible, but you lose about 25% to tax relief plus the employer contibution which starts at 75% of your contribution to 100% if your employer matches pension as an additional incentive.

So you lose at a minimum 100% potential contribution "gain" but get your cash immediately and avoid the risk of potentially losing it here if you leave.

With the way things are here, its valid to consider this action, but it is a fairly costly one which is why many are reluctant to go through with it.

Please I need advise. I have issues with the date of birth and Name in my passport. My passport has my 2 names while all other documents has my 3 names. And the Year in my passport is incorrect while all my documents has the correct year. If I get an affidavit for this during application, will it trigger an interview from UKVI?
No experience with this but I would recommend you get a new passport, primarily to have the DoB corrected.

DoB is a key personal information used to ID people abroad, a non-matching DoB will likely be a big hurdle for you accessing many services and opportunities requiring your passport even if you manage to get past the visa process.

Affidavit is unlikely to be considered strongly as a mitigation against wrong DoB, particularly one gotten from Nigeria (the bias exists abroad).

Name may be a lesser issue as most Europeans only have 2 names on their official documents.

A quick one, is it possible to save up to £1k a month working as a student in Bradford?
No on 20hrs a week, except you have very limited outgoings and get a job paying over £15 and hours.

Good thing is you pay little to no tax as most of your income will be below the tax threshold

Update
I successfully resumed today, I took the risk to travel on Saturday, without getting approved by the school because I got the visa after close of work day . I got to school today and got enrolled.
Congrats.

I think the homeoffice is duty bound to process it once they get to that request.

Hence, better to cancel the withdrawal before it gets actioned. Check with a solicitor to confirm.

These Jewish controlled mainstream media are not even trying to hide their agenda in pushing hatred towards Islam. Which one is Islamic jihadists? Were any of these criminal bandits apprehended and interviewed to say they were fighting for Islam? Apart from the lunatic Sheikh Gumi, has any other notable Muslim spoken in support of this madness? Some bandit kidnappers were caught in the north east not too long ago and some of them had English names. If they were not exposed, they would have been called Islamists and jihadists too. These people in the media know exactly what they're doing. They know majority of their audience lacks critical thinking and can easily be brainwashed.
Is it reading or comprehension that was the problem.

You are rather content that the shieks have not spoken to support the killing rather than being bothered that the killing by certain armed in furtherance of islam is not openly condemned by the shieks.

You critical reasoning is truly on a different level

Your decision, your choice. Personally though I think you should note your self the ffg:

- loads of people die while travelling through the desert after much suffering and inhumane treatment by smugglers

- many irregular migrants are imprisoned in sub-human conditions for many years when caught by malitias and militaries of the sahel country

- many who travel to Europe end illegally up as vagrants on the streets, sleeping in tents. I have travelled to a couple of European cities and they are easy to spot. Many of them likely Nigerians or other africans compatroits by their look.
Many European countries make it hard for people who arrive illegally.
May not make sense to you right now, but I will advise you to check for video about the life illegal migrants from africa in southern europe. They are living rough lives on the streets in Spain, Portugal and Italy. The UK is probably one of the few that strives hard to house illegal migrants but the direction of politics in the UK is also changing.

- Lastly, the chance that you will be granted asylum in Europe is low as a Nigerian. Regardless of your experience in Nigeria, it is not considered unsafe except you can prove something peculiar about your case

GKDGREAT:
Hello everyone. Please i need you input on ILR qualifying period in the UK and would like you to advise me on an issue bothering me.

I received 2 years COS from my employer on Sept 17th 2025(NHS support worker) and I submitted my application along with my two dependents- spouse and son on 18th of September 2025. My both dependents got thier visa approved within 3-4 weeks while mine was pending. After several calls and mails and follow up by my employer with homeoffice, I got mine visa on January 6th 2026.

My worry is that my start date carries Dec2025 and end date Oct 2027- which is not up to two years.
while that of my dependents carry October 2025 to October 2027 .

I am worried this would affect my ILR qualifying period, kindly advise me on what to do.

Thank you.
Make up the shortfall when your visa is due for extension. i.e request for a COS greater than 3 years
