Can I use water only instead of coolant? Since we can't have freezing conditon in this part of the world and I think coolant = water + antifreeze
of course only water and a working radiator fan will do the job.

1. Tampering with body to ground distance of your vehicle: This is a common practice in Nigeria where a mechanic will suggest you lift the body to ground suspension to prevent your vehicle from occasionally touching the ground when fully loaded or on bad roads not taking into consideration the effect altering the original ground to body design will have.
Result: wavering discomfort at top speed due to excess airflow under the vehicle which acts against its stability.

2.Fitting tyre size other than manufacturers recomended size: Every manufacturer clearly specifies tyre size to be used on every manufactured vehicle not as fashion but in compliance to the size and design of such vehicle in maintaining safety standards. But mechanics will always convince people to replace 14 or 15 rim tyres with 17 rim size thereby altering the original design and balance attributed to such vehicles design.

Result: Tyre to body or fender contact during turning or while driving on an undulating road.

3.Fitting different engine other than manufacturer fitted engine: It is a common practice yet again with our Nigerian mechanics to advise people to fit a land rover discovery mini SUV with a 96 camry engine or the popular danfo bus with santana or golf engine and others too numerous to mention. Not putting into consideration the braking effect it would have on the said vehicle which can result to brake failure as the engine assisted braking device found in the santana or golf will no more function as designed. And that is when u see them blocking pipes and valves here and there telling you it not necessary.

Result: Engines maximum output will never be utilized.

4. Not taking into consideration maximum load capacity a vehicle should carry which affects braking distance: the weight a vehicle carries should be commensurate with the suspension so as to maintain optimum braking distance and stability when applied.
Result: Several visits to the mechanic workshop due to brake issues.

5.Converting injector driven engine to caburator driven engine: This is yet another dangerous practice which can sometimes result in an engine fire if not properly done. But personally I still don't support such as it will have an adverse effect on the vehicles performance.

Result:Engine malfunction.

A word they say is enough for the wise. Please adhere to manufacturer standard as much as you can to avoid any of these listed above for your safety and for the love and safety of those who depend on you. Drive safely into the ember months.

Driving is an art mastered overtime through experience and perseverance. When you begin to drive professionally, then you will understand better. And there are ways if such art is wrongly applied, will result to fatality or death.
So today we are going to learn how not to abuse that art by sticking to the rules.
Rule number :

1. Never overtake at a bend. It is the surest way to get involved in a head on collision. No matter how expert you think you are,you will only have about 2 seconds to respond to the shock of seeing a vehicle right before you. So don't!

2.Always underestimate the driver in front of you and the driver behind you, that way you will respond better to their mistakes.

3.Have accurate knowledge of your cars acceleration and braking power. It helps you overtake swiftly and let's you know from where to begin applying your brakes when necessary. Such knowledge is very important.

4.To be a professional driver you must be a fast thinker and sharp initiator. Several situations which have caused fatal accidents presented options to the driver involved and he must choose one.

5.Never take alcohol or any such stimulants cause they reduce your alertness a great deal. Alcohol and stimulants relax the body and reduces concentration.

6.Playing loud music isn't wise because you don't hear what's going on in and around your car. And we know this is very necessary for a smooth journey,so please reduce that music and save a life.

7.Always indicate the direction you want to go with your trafficators and do so on time to warn the driver behind you and the driver on the other side of the intersection.

8. Make any conversation brief as conversations while driving hinders concentration. So stop the Chit chat unless you are just on cruise mode.

9.View your dash board indicators every five minutes while driving for any mechanical or technical faults as this helps salvage a situation which can lead to engine knock or an accident due to faulty brakes.

10. Never overspeed and stop praising your skill as a driver because many have gone this way.

@OP, what are the rules? and how should one act in situations of blowouts?
Of course for a supposedly professional driver,
1.he should not have applied the brakes.
2. He should glance over his dash board periodically to monitor condition of the vehicle maybe he would have seen a tyre pressure difference.
3. Once on the highway,Minister or no minister he must insist on the use of seat belts for all occupants in a convoy situation.
4.As a supposed professional driver always expect the unexpected while on the highway. Gunshot attack, accident, highway robbers, reckless pedestrian, roaming cattle. That way you will not be thrown into a panic and alertness would be high.
The list goes on but I rest my case here.

R.I.P to the dead.

it will not raise them from the dead but more people will learn how to handle such situations in future. When I was coming back to Nigeria after my studies I was taunted that I will face a lot of negative reactions to auto forensics, now I know better cos Africans hate to learn.

Exactly right.

The most professional drivers in the world, F1 race car drivers, routinely crash and die from tire issues.
F1? You compare F1 to a domestic road accident?! Hmm...

The cause of the accident was a rear tyre that exploded.Basic knowledge of driving tells you
that when you are on a high speed and any of the tyres bursts, you must NEVER touch the brakes!!!because if you do,the vehicle will summersault severally. How come you are saying that you are sure that brakes were not applied. Please educate me further on this.
Ok. You brake when tire bursts It will somersault. You don't brake it still somersaults. Reports say the rear tire went off in a burst and the vehicle somersaulted. Do you know that this vehicle has tire pressure indicator on the dash? . If the driver was professional enough then he shouldn't be on such speed. But I seriously doubt this accident occured as a result of tyre puncture.Look at d monumental damage. It smells of inexperience

You have a point OP for a car like the 2015 Lexus LX570 to to this badly damaged the driver really wasn't calculative. This ride is a "hard body" suv so even if it has an accident a calculate action wouldn't have made it this badly damaged. But they claimed the cause was from a tire that exploded and it somersaulted. Meaning the car must have been on some serious high speed for this kind of impact.

RIP
Exactly my point. The damage touched every inch of the vehicle body . Which means there was no use of brakes. This vehicle went into a frenzy from like 180km/hr.

Nah God dey protect.

But some drivers no dey try.

Abuja-Kaduna is a road i have plied severally, it is a long 164km strip of smooth road with only few potholes and lorries parked along some 1km stretch.

This type of fatal crashes is common on this road due to over speeding, hurry and taking the smooth road for granted. Cars slip here at highspeed.

I have also experienced a bursted type at a speed of 100km/hr on this road. Only this road permitted me to hit my top speed of 165km/hr. Many drivers also fall into sleep on the steering on this road.

RIP sir..
I concur

Bros, wldnt u need to inspect the car physically b4 exercising ur auto forensics skills?

Driver and adc didnt die.......i guess its cos they had their seatbelts on

Those dat sit at the back dont belt up.....
First question I asked was who the driver of the vehicle was because the accident report does not acknowledge there were two other people. Even at that ,my theory still stands.

A lot of things may have caused the accident that killed James Ocholi ,his wife and son. Was James Ocholi the one driving? I doubt that. But if so then no wonder why inexperience is written all over that accident. For such a modern security tested suv as that lexus Lx 570 to be damaged this badly then the driver must have erred big time.

1. For that vehicle to be this damaged,it means the brakes were never applied.

2.There is no visible impact by another vehicle to cause it to somersault,it went off the ground on its own at top speed swerve.

3.The driver may have dozed off and on waking up steered the vehicle roughly to cause a somersault.

4.May have lost control due to high speed.
But one thing is clear, that vehicle wasn't being driven by a professional driver. Professional drivers must be appreciated because a lot of energy and calculations go into safe conveyance from point A to point B.
A professional driver thinks fast and knows how to minimize damage in case of an accident. The driver of that vehicle clearly lacks such skill. Knowing the rules while driving is very necessary to keep you alive.
