Source : www.mgixt.com (find and meet people nearby with similar interests) So many artiste wonder why they don’t get to succeed in the Nigerian Music industry and most times they feel they are cursed not to succeed but trust me if you work wisely (work hard) & take advantage of every positive opportunity you would be just more than your expectation. Currently record labels are going through a lot of challenges as many signed and successful artiste ask for Cars, houses forgetting the most important thing which is Promotion . After these record labels have spent a lot of money to get the artist to limelight and successful at the end of the day these artiste back out of the record deal a year or two with the mindset of been cheated upon with the percentage share & with the feeling of “YES!!! I can do it now alone they can go f*#k themselves and stop making money from my effort” but they forgetting the spotlight opportunity that was given to them by these record label while they were ripping off the effort of the label boss or whoever believed so much in them & gave them the Spotlight . They probably would have been in the same upcoming artiste level till they finally give up . Now that’s not the issue though let me outline some important issues why most Nigerian artiste fail .. Finances Many artists are under-funded .Sometimes this is a result of lack of funds to begin with. Sometimes it is because the available funds are not spent wisely. Successful artists know that they need to constantly invest and reinvest in their act. They establish a budget and stick with it. They raise capital if it is necessary, whether it comes from investors, crowdsourcing, a loan or some sort of enterprising venture. If they are not good at managing their money, they hire someone who is “A Manager” . They do not let money, or the lack of it stop them. Many artists quit too soon. Maybe they have had some success and so they stop doing the things that got them there. Many just get tired of wasting time, money and effort, when all the while they have started creating the kind of buzz that can lead to much bigger and better things. Successful artists refuse to give in. They are determined to figure the puzzle out. They measure the results of their efforts so they see and work to capitalize on even the smallest amounts of progress. Talent Many artists think they are talented enough to cut through the clutter and stand out among the millions of other artists competing for the same fans. Successful artists work tirelessly at their crafts and strive to be the absolute best songwriters, performers, musicians etc. They are always looking for ways to improve, both individually and as a group. Uniqueness Many Nigerian artists are trying to be the next like 2face,Timaya, Burna Boy, Patoranking, Omawunmi etc instead of creating a sound and look all their own. Even though they may be incredibly talented, nothing about them distinguishes them from the artists they hear on the radio or the multitude of similar artists vying for attention. Successful artists know that the best way to stand out from the crowd is to be unique in as many ways as possible, and they work hard at it. They also know how to build a brand around their uniqueness. The Work Ethic Many artists are not willing to do the behind the scenes work that successful artists do relentlessly. If you ask them they will simply tell you this “No record label” but then go back and see the reason why a label is scared of signing you above . You as an artiste may be waiting to be discovered but trust me you have to first create your own success by making plenty of effort like 1) Get a good producer & record your own song with your money . 2) Attend shows and beg for a spotlight by performing because you just don’t know who is watching. 3) Make a promotional CD ,branded most importantly and try getting it to people that are successful in the Industry or Promoters & Deejays . Branded CD’s shows the level of the seriousness in you. 4) Get yourself online & make push out promotion ,disturb with your song. 5) You don’t believe in Talent Hunt so you don’t attend ,Please change your mindset . 6) READ THE REST BELOW What to do? How to do it ? Many artists are willing to do the work but don’t know what to do. Many don’t know where to even start & most importantly are afraid that they will do things wrong so they don’t do anything. Remember not doing anything gives you nothing also . They undergo challenges like marketing, performing, songwriting, legal issues, recording and other important facets of their careers. Successful artists do their homework and tap into experts who help to guide them. They study the ins and outs of the industry. They learn to make wise decisions. Most importantly as an upcoming artiste find a mentor(s) or coach who will guide you . You Need A Manager!!!!! Without been told you know you need a manager to handle your career in every way . Many artists act unprofessionally, or just don’t have a pleasing personality. They don’t treat others with respect. They are not on time for gigs, rehearsals, photo shoots, interviews or anything else. They are oblivious to other people’s feelings, egos, needs or desires. Successful artists always act in a professional manner. They are personable, so people want to be around them and help them succeed. They know that this is what it takes to earn the respect of their team, their fans and the industry. Many Nigerian artists have no idea who their fans are. They can’t tell you with any sense of accuracy their biggest fan demographics like age, gender, income level, where they live, what their occupations or hobbies are etc. Successful artists know their fans and everything about them because they interact with them. Many conduct surveys and contests to extract demographic information that they use to select the merch they sell. They use that info to know what to write songs about. They track where the people who visit their website are coming from so they know where to book gigs. Many artists are bad communicators they don’t keep their fans informed about the shows they will be performing next . Ineffective Efforts: Many artists think they are doing the right things, but for some reason they are not hitting the mark. Some of the reasons for this are that they are not doing enough, are doing the wrong things, are doing things wrong, are missing some of the pieces or do things in the wrong order. Also included in this list are the artists who do things for the wrong reasons. Many just throw everything against the wall to see what sticks. Successful artists know what to do, how to do it, when to do it, where to do it, and how to get the most from it. Building Relationships Many artists do not take the time to build relationships both in the industry and with their fans. It’s very important you build relationship with promoters & your fans . Yes even with your money some will have you begging them to feature your work but if remember success is your aim . Successful artists do both, and they know how to keep and continuously deepen those relationships. Team Many artists try to do everything themselves ”One Man Mopol”. This may be because they want to retain complete control, or it may be because they don’t know how to put a strong team together. Often no one wants to work with them because they don’t have anything happening. Successful artists know how to make themselves attractive to key team members. They know how to assemble a powerful team and keep them engaged. Become Unpredictable Many artists get stuck in ruts and never climb out of them, becoming stale and predictable. This can become evident in their music, their stage show, the look and feel of their marketing, they way they dress and everything else they do. Successful artists are always adding new dimensions to themselves. They keep everyone curious about just what they are going to come up with next. They not only watch the trends, they either jump ahead of them or set their own. They find ways to become pioneers. They avoid stagnation by constantly reinventing themselves, all the while remaining true to their fans and their brand. Packaging . Many artists look like amateurs. Their promo materials, if they have them they are not attractive. Many don’t dress appropriately, especially for shows . Successful artists know that everything about them and everything that represents them has to make them look like they are in the major leagues. They never settle for ‘good enough.’ They hire experienced graphic designers to create their online and print marketing. They dress like businesspeople when it is appropriate. They know that their biggest competitors are doing the same! There are countless more reasons why some artists fail and some succeed. Timing, unforeseen circumstances such as illness, lack of family support, etc.

Ministering at the November monthly Holy Ghost Service with the theme: ‘Great Expectations’, Daddy G.O. (as he is fondly called), revealed to the mammoth crowd how he was gripped with the fear of death during one of his numerous ecclesiastical trips outside the country. He recalled how he was gripped with fear and close to death during one of his trips with the then Nigeria Airways. “Contrary to what many of you may think I am human and I have my fears too. There were times I have had cause to fear and doubt because I am human but God always ended up disappointing my fears and doubts. “In one of my trips with the then Nigeria Airways, the pilot had announced, when we were already airborne, that there were indications that the plane would crash-land. Immediately the pilot made the announcement, I was afraid and as if that was not enough, he said there were expert fire fighters who would put out the fire when the plane crashes.” Pastor Adeboye continued: “Immediately I embarked on a quick run through my life just to be sure I was ready to meet my Maker. I also told God that I never knew this was how I would end my race. I was really afraid.” Laughing over the situation which has become a testimony, Adeboye said the fear of death temporarily took over him and other passengers until God assured him that he was not going to die and that the situation occurred so that God can communicate with him. “When God gave me that assurance that we will not die that He only wanted to have a conversation with me, I felt relaxed and as God would have it, the Lord took charge of the plane and we landed safely,” he narrated.

According to a report published by the Vanguard newspaper on Friday, 14 November, 2014, the police in Anambra State are interrogating the accused to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of the late pregnant woman. It was gathered from a police source that the young man had allegedly taken the deceased to an undisclosed hotel in Onitsha, only for the hotel staff to discover that the woman was dead in the morning. The incident, the source said, occurred on Tuesday when the man allegedly checked into the hotel with the heavily pregnant woman, only to find out in the morning that his partner could not wake up on Wednesday morning. Though the police in Onitsha Area Command refused to give details on the incident, a resident of the area said the suspect and the deceased were just love birds. He said the suspect had lodged into the hotel room and invited the deceased through a phone call. The source further faulted rumours that the woman died as a result of charms made by her husband, adding that it was possible that the woman died of exhaustion from the marathon sex romp. He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the corpse of the victim is said to have been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in Onitsha by the police because the relative of the deceased has not been identified. Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Uche Ezeh, said the command received the information concerning the incident, disclosing that the suspect had been arrested and case transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Awka, for further investigations. |

Although many thought they were related in one way or the other; maybe because they lived together, have the same body size, and so on. However, they soon grew apart, even stopped living together. This was more noticeable after Chinedu (Aki) got married. Chinedu in an interview with Nigerian Tribune, explained everything. Read excerpts from the interview below: Considering the fact that you have been busy since the beginning of the year, would you say you don’t have time for yourself? Yes, I do. What I usually do is that I take a time out after a hectic work. I travel and I may leave one of my phones on in case of any important call. Most times when I am off work, my management team takes care of other things. My brother, I must take time to free myself from any stress either for months or weeks because life is very vital. One is only useful when one is alive. My body is the engine room of what I give out. If I don’t have the physical energy, I won’t be able to give, as well as sustain my best. I have to make sure that my body and soul are in order. This is why I go on vacation. I also unwind, but it is not what I do all the time. I have reduced the number of times I go to club as a married man. You will agree with me that there are some things that I would have to minimize because I have much more responsibilities now. More so, I have exercise apparatus in the house to keep me fit. I love reading books and playing games, especially the play station. I have a lot of things that can take my mind away from acting for a period of time. Has marriage denied you of enjoying life again? No. The life of a bachelor is different from that of a married man. It is expected of you to respect your spouse. One has to be conscious and make an adjustment on the kind of life one lived before settling down. A responsible man must always be conscious and always stay around his family. How has life been as a married man? It has been wonderful and interesting. I thank God for it. As I said earlier, it requires more of responsibility than when one was living the life of a bachelor. I really enjoy my marriage and I thank my understanding wife who takes care of the home while I am away. What is stopping you from joining the list of celebs that have shown interest in politics? I would encourage anyone who is interested in the Nigerian politics system to do so because it is a good development. We need such faces in governance. Personally though, I cannot give a definite answer to that. The fact, however, remains that we are all part of the game of politicking and this is the only way we can bring change to the country. Let’s wait and see the outcome because I don’t always delve into things without cross- checking. If you eventually declare your interest in politics, which position would you opt for? That would be determined by my people. They have the final say on that. Could it be true that the interest of celebs in politics is as a result of the purported wealth being amassed? I will not agree with that. I don’t think there is any truth in that because it has no basis. We are human beings and most of us are intellectuals. Anyone that wants to go into politics should have it at the back of his or her mind that they would bring change and help the people. In your own take, do you believe that celebrities can bring the change the people really want? It is an individual thing because dreams are different from one person to another. For me, I would say yes, we can bring about that change. Shakespeare says that: “The mind is like a basket, no one knows what the other person is carrying.” Generally, we are all instruments of change, and from the things we do, we are like evangelists who reveal the unknown to the public, especially things that are happening in the society. So, if we can achieve this dramatically, we can bring it to the reality. I believe the mindset of every entertainer going into politics is to set a standard and bring positive change to the nation. Back into acting, it seems you did not discover yourself until Paw Paw joined you in the industry? It wasn’t like that. I started acting in 1998 while I was still an undergraduate and I have done some major jobs between 1999 and 2000, especially as supporting lead role. In fact, I was almost there before Paw Paw surfaced; he started acting in 2001, but he was not famous. God miraculously picked the two of us and featured us in a movie which gave us a break among others of such stature as ours. I believe we were not the only ones with small stature. It was a unique combination which opened the people’s eyes as well as gave the industry a new face. Remember, I did not start acting with the comic aspect. Back in my secondary school days, my friends knew that I was a funny person. Everything that happened was for a reason. I guess it was time for people to know the other side of me, which also gladdened my heart. I would say that our coming together stirred the comic thing. Do you sometimes think you guys might not have been famous if you had not come together? I don’t see it that way. As I said earlier, it was a divine connection. God has a purpose for bringing us together and every man has his time and season. Despite our small stature, which many people see as a disadvantage, fame still located us. The coming together of Aki and Paw Paw was a prestige to us and a plus to the industry because it was a usual way of shooting movies before we were discovered, especially witchcraft or any other movie. The whole thing changed when we came on board. We brought stories that happened to us personally to the screen and before we knew it, the combination became hot cake in the market. Could you recall you guys’ meeting point? It was easy for me to shuttle between school and locations in Enugu back then, but Paw Paw usually came from Aba. I had been in the industry before him and, according to him, he had been longing to meet me and we eventually met in 2001 at a location. How do you draw inspiration? Sometimes, I wonder how I come about these things, but I would say I draw the inspiration from God and I mimic people a lot, especially when I was a little boy. My mum does that perfectly. I think it runs in the blood. Not that the pranks I played at my tender age coupled with what I gathered in my surroundings then gives me joy, but I have been able to bring them into acting to give people a clear picture of what is happening in different homes and the society at large. I love my parents’, unfortunately I lost my dad last year, but my mum was actually my source of inspiration because she is a woman that would ensure that her children have the best. You are always hyperactive in movies. Is that part of your scripts or you act outside of the scripts? (Laughs…) The truth is that I always research on any scripts I lay my hands on. I usually have a mental picture of how I would want to see myself in a movie., especially when I want to play the role of a kid. I pick from how my cousin or nephew play in the real sense into the character and once I hear action, I am the character at that moment. Honestly, I have to be professional about it because if I don’t do that, I won’t be able to convince my audience. It has been interesting. Sometimes, I play double role, which is one of the advantages of my size. I could play an adult and also a child at the same time. Have you ever been misrepresented as a kid? We are all human beings and any body that sees me for the first time would think I am a baby, but when I talk, my reaction would give the person an understanding that I am not. I did not create myself and I cannot change myself either. There is nothing I can do about that; no amount of plastic surgery can increase my height, except if God wants me to grow taller than I am. I have realised that we leave in a world where people are easily carried away. A lot of people are myopic and my perception about life is quite different from theirs. Sometimes an adult will see you and misbehave. Despite the cautioning, they still go ahead to laugh at me and sometimes, many even try to tease me. People don’t understand that the Aki they see on the screen is different from Chinedu Ikedieze. Are you the only one with a small stature in your family? Yes. I don’t know how it happened and I was not bothered to ask my parents about it. I just knew I was created that way. I am the first son of the family. How were you able to handle the crisis that struck when you rang your wedding bell? It wasn’t difficult because I had an effective event planner. You will agree with me that there must be division of labour; I cannot be everywhere. News had it that you asked Paw Paw to vacate the apartment both of you once leaved in as a bachelor when you got married There was no clash between us. Then, the owner of the property wanted to use it, so we both had to vacate the apartment. The truth must be told, we cannot live together forever. We are adults and someday we would get married. We are not same twins, I am from Abia and he is from Imo. It’s just that we are good friends. It is not bad we go our separate ways, though; we are not far from each other.

Veteran Actress, Idowu Phillips aka Iya Rainbow The top actress, Iya Rainbow said: “I didn’t re-marry because many men are liars and I don’t like that. They come to your house, feel comfortable, you cook for them and probably have sex with them and then they say ‘I would see you tomorrow,’ but you will never see them again. I don’t like that. It is better for someone to carry one’s cross. It is just that it is not easy to raise children. I advise widows to walk in my footsteps, I know it is not easy not to re-marry but with prayers, God would help them. For instance, if I had re-married, I probably would have had other children and I would be the one to see them through school at my old age and the man might even leave me. I thought about all these and I decided to face parenthood.” The 72-year-old Lagos born actress, who has spent 45 years on stage lost her husband in 1984 after battling with a sickness for about two and a half. Iya Rainbow also said although she gets suitors, they end up running away once they see the number of her children. Speaking on if she hasn’t had sex since the death of her husband said: “Then, I did not even remember that I am a woman. I pray no one goes through what I went through. Then, the only time I remembered that I am a woman was when I wanted to ease myself. husband to me”.

This post was copied from www.mgixt.com, No.1 naija social network to find friends nearby and meet people that matters in career, job and educational opportunities >>> www.mgixt.com Twenty-four year old Chinedu Ubachukwu has emerged the winner of this year’s edition of Gulder Ultimate Search. The Anambra state indigene thus became the 11th winner of Africa’s first and longest running reality TV show. To attain the feat, he edged out 28-year old Emmanuel Afolabi and 29 year-old Nne Cosy Joe. After more than three weeks in the jungle, only the three contestants survived the harsh weather conditions and the arduous tasks they were subjected to. Their final task was to retrieve the great General’s War helmet which according to folklore, had been hidden in the belly of the Aguleri Forest of Anambra State. Ironically, when the contestants commenced their journey from Boat Landing, where they camped the previous night, Chinedu appeared the weakest of them. He even stated that he was not 100 per cent fit; adding that if the final search for the helmet became a purely physical task, it may be to his disadvantage. Chinedu was the last to climb over a very high wall and the remaining contestants insisted that he should be the first to cross another rope ladder which was suspended between two trees because he appeared weak. As the search neared its end, Chinedu appeared to regain his strength and the trio raced across a river which was at their waist-level, towards their work stations situated at the belly of the Aguleri forest. There they met an emissary of the Council of Elders who adorned a red cloak. His duty was to grant them right of passage only after correctly pieced together the tiles which they found during their very long trek. Cosy was the first to solve the riddle, followed by Chinedu and then Emmanuel. They raced towards three canoes and paddled away in different directions. Both Emmanuel and Cosy Joe appeared to paddle their canoes aimlessly while Chinedu paddled towards a particular direction. It turned out Chinedu rowed his canoe towards a clay pot which was emitting fire. At this point, Cosy Joe appeared frustrated and angrily hit the water with his bare hands. He had no paddle. As Cosy paddled his boat to shore and alighted on land, Emmanuel attempted to row his canoe in Chinedu’s direction. Chinedu raced on land and retrieved the great General’s Helmet surrounded by three fire pots. Hence, he joins the Order of Heroes as the 11th winner of Gulder Ultimate Search. Chidi Mokeme, the Anchor man, soon arrived on canoe and congratulated Chinedu on his great feat. He said: “After 26 murderous days in the Aguleri jungle, after days and nights of pain and sorrow; thinking about the unknown, nursing your wounds with sweat, with blood, it is you Chinedu who made it here. It is you who has carved your name in history. It is you who has earned the bragging rights. It is you who has made it into the elite league of extra ordinary warriors. By the powers conferred on me by the Council of Elders, I now pronounce you Last Man Standing!” Incidentally, when the relatives of the final four contestants paid them a visit in the jungle two days earlier, it was only Chinedu’s mother that urged him to return home as champion. Amidst tears, Mrs. Ubachukwu told her son “I know you will make me proud. Come home with the crown.” Incidentally, on the morning of the final search, both Emmanuel and Cosy Joe gave Chinedu their lanterns. They told him “this will light your path”, oblivious of the fact that that his light would shine the brightest at the end of the day. Both Emmanuel and Cosy talked about reducing their load and they both decided to hand their lanterns to Chinedu. For his feat, Chinedu will be rewarded with N10 million and a brand new SUV at a party fit only for royalty. Two other contestants will also receive brand new vehicles. They are Samantha Appi, who will drive home a brand new Ford Eco sport for emerging as the Last Woman Standing and the winner of the Viewers’ Choice, who will go home with a Ford Focus. The contestants that were evicted earlier in the show were: Otto Canon, Ikenna Emedike, Addoh Evi, Iroh Noella, Blessing Eriata, Loretta Erijakpor, Sandra Nwagbagiro, Samantha Appi, Sharon Robinson, Joshua Nwagboso and Iwuoha Ikenna.

The Imo State born musician, Kingsley Elikpo aka Zeez is making a comeback to the music scene he dominated some years ago with the release of his new single, ‘Atewo’ featuring rapper Olamide. However, despite the stiff competition in the industry, he has said he’s not afraid of anyone. The singer, who used to be called DJ Zeez, said he embarked on a deliberate hiatus from the music to study some courses but which are not music related in any way. Speaking on his new collaboration with Olamide in a recent interview with Punch, he said: ‘I collaborated with Olamide because we are from the same hood-Bariga, alongside 9ice, Reminisce and Lord of Ajasa. It is my first collaboration in many years. I wanted to identify with my Bariga fans, who have been disturbing and clamouring for collaboration from us. The feedback has been awesome. Atewo means clap. It is a celebratory song for people doing well in different walks of life.’ Speaking on the new level of competition in the music industry now, Zeez said, ‘If you are a player in a non-competitive industry, it is best to leave it fast. Yes, the industry is a lot better now compared to when I began. The social media hype, which a lot of artistes including me, now enjoy, was non- existent at the time. What matters most is constantly rebuilding and reevaluating oneself to keep moving with the times because change is the only constant thing. Competition only makes me a better. Artistes like Davido and Olamide, are no threat to me.’ The music act, who is now known simply as Zeez, went on to add that he is only scared of not being remembered for his contributions. ‘I am afraid of not being remembered for who I was or impact I made. That is why I try to be a perfectionist in all my dealings. I do not try to imitate any artiste because it is not all about having hit tracks or endorsements but about having a genuine talent and passion for music.’
