There have been intense tension at the Real Madrid camp lately on issues relating to Winger, Gareth Bale and Coach Zinedine Zidane.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram Hides Number Of ‘Likes’ On Post To Prevent Low Self Esteem

Social media platform, Instagram is hiding ‘likes’ count in various countries such as Australia and Japan to “remove pressure” on users.

The trial which begins today, Thursdays, 18th July, will see ‘Instagrammers’ just seeing a user name and “others” liking the post rather than seeing a username and a particular number of people liking the post.

However, users can view the number of likes on their own post.

This step has been taken because, there have been concerns that social media platforms can contribute to low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy in the youth.

In May, Instagram launched a similar trial in Canada and the new test is rolling out in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, Japan and Brazil, the company told the media.

Mexican Drug Lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Loera Guizman has been jailed for life by US Court.

The notorious drug dealer is popularly known for smuggling illegal drugs – cocaine to be specific – into the US over decades.

El Chapo was guilty of drug trafficking, money laundering and the use of firearms.


The 62-years old Mexican speaking to the media claimed that his confinement in the US had been through psychological, emotional, mental torture 24 hours a day.

She advised that, students should really focus on their books because re-sitting for a failed exam is a very difficult thing to do.

“When I was in high school, I would go on stage every Saturday. I was so into entertainment, I didn’t take my books serious. I want to advise students to take their books serious.” She said in an interview.

Leapfrogging Human Capital Development was the theme for the 2019 ENACTUS Nigeria National competition which took place on Wednesday 10th July and Thursday 11th July at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

With active participants of over 1000 individuals comprising students and academic leaders from over 25 Nigerian tertiary institutions, business leaders and observers from various organizations.

The 2 days event did not fall short of expectations as the participants were thrilled and amazed at the turn out of the event.

As with the tradition of the ENACTUS Nigeria annual competition,18 Enactus teams were split across four Leagues in the opening round of competition with each league having an average of 4 teams having 25 minutes each to make an Audio-Visual presentation of projects they have carried out in the preceding year that has improved the quality of lives and living standards of those around their local communities. 3 teams from each league to total 12 advanced to the semi-final round of the competition.

The first day also featured a leadership and innovation summit sponsored by Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation with the theme: Multi-Stakeholder Collaborations: A Tool for Achieving Sustainable Large Scale Social Impact. The session was moderated by KunbiWuraola (Principal Consultant, Discover Your Potentials)and the panelists included Tonye Cole (Co-Founder, Sahara Group), OsayiAlile (CEO, ACT Foundation),Abosede George-Ogan(Director Strategy, Funding and Stakeholder Management, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund).

The leadership challenge competition followed immediately after the summit and the ENACTUS teams from University of Ibadan in 1st place, Bayero university Kano and Federal university of Agriculture Abeokuta in 2nd place emerged as winners and were given cash rewards of 400,000 thousand Naira and 300,000 respectively to further scale up their projects.

The second day of the event witnessed competition from the 12 teams that advance from the opening round with the Sahara Group Energy Efficiency Innovation Exhibition from the Enactus Teams from Federal University of Technology Owerri, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Tai Solarin University of Education, Kaduna Polytechnic, and University of Port-Harcourt happening concurrently.

A fire that tore through Ghana’s Ministry of Health headquarters in Accra on Saturday night destroyed the Ministry’s server room and all its equipment.

The fire, first reported by the Ghanaian Times, began in the server room, which was secured by biometrics. The security guard who first detected smoke emanating from the room was not on the list of approved personnel, so promptly rushed to the local fire station to report the blaze.

The six firefighters who arrived at the scene at 4:30 am managed to ram the doors and bring the fire under control before the rest of the premises was destroyed. No injuries were reported.

Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the blaze, which also destroyed another office room, the Ministry’s divisional fire commander Naomi Ofori-Adubea disclosed.

Ofori-Adubea recommended that the Ministry leave keys with security personnel overnight to prevent officers from being locked out of the premises if a similar incident occurred in the future and that it should use CCTV at night to monitor potential crimes.

“If there is no staff with biometric fingerprint around especially during the night where everyone had gone home the story would be different,” she said.

Firefighters has spent more than 15 straight hours at the Warner Bros Studio as it caught fire.

According to the Fire Service, the incident occurred a little before 15:00 British Summer Time (BST).

Report says the set involved was not in use at that time so luckily, there was no injuries recorded at the time of the incident.

All eight Harry Potter films as well as other movies including James Bond, Fast and Furious and the Mission Impossible franchises have filmed at the studios.

Even though a spokesperson of Warner Bros refused to speak to the media, a resident who lives a bit closer the studio shared his account of what he saw.

“My house is only about 200m away from the perimeter fence and we have a clear line of sight over gardens so we managed to see it out one of our windows.

“The smoke went high into the air, and as I watched, the smoke appeared to get thicker, so much so that we could see the flashing lights of the fire engines reflecting off the thick smoke.

“It was still going strong at about 1am and when I woke up this morning it was still smouldering.”

He added there was a “strong smell and taste of smoke in the air”.
