Fashion/Clothing Market › Micohype Beauty Hair Launches New Salt & Pepper Human Hair Collection For Braids by Micolikes(op): 4:49pm On Aug 12
MicoHype Beauty Hair Introduces Salt & Pepper Human Hair Braiding Collection

The growing demand for distinctive human hair braiding extensions in Nigeria is bringing new colours and textures into the spotlight, with Salt & Pepper emerging as an increasingly popular choice for customers seeking a more natural yet fashionable look.

In response to the trend, MicoHype Beauty Hair has introduced a new Salt & Pepper human hair collection, giving hairstylists and customers several options for creating protective hairstyles with a unique colour effect.

Rather than limiting the collection to one texture, the brand has made the Salt & Pepper colour available in Afro Kinky, Wet & Wavy, Deep Wave and Water Wave human hair braiding extensions.

Each texture caters to a different styling preference.

The Wet & Wavy option is suited to styles such as boho braids and pick-and-drop hairstyles, offering soft waves that add movement and a relaxed finish to braided looks.

For customers who prefer a more pronounced texture, the Deep Wave option provides deeper, more defined waves and can also be used for boho braids and pick-and-drop styles.

The Water Wave texture offers a softer wave pattern, making it another option for customers who want an elegant, flowing appearance in their protective hairstyles.

The collection also includes Afro Kinky Human Hair, which is designed for more textured styles including micro twists, micro locs, mini braids and natural hair twists. Its kinky texture gives the finished hairstyle a more natural appearance.

The launch reflects the brand's effort to give customers more variety as interest in customised protective hairstyles continues to grow. By offering the Salt & Pepper colour across several textures, MicoHype Beauty Hair is providing hairstylists with greater flexibility when creating different looks for their clients.

As colour experimentation continues to influence the Nigerian hair and beauty market, the new collection gives customers another alternative to conventional single-colour braiding extensions.

Which Salt & Pepper texture would you choose — Afro Kinky, Wet & Wavy, Deep Wave or Water Wave?

Politics › IYD: First Lady Urges Youths To Embrace Education, Innovation, Entrepreneurship by Micolikes(op): 3:59pm On Aug 12
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to harness education, innovation and entrepreneurship in pursuing their aspirations and contributing to the building of a peaceful and prosperous nation.

Mrs Tinubu, in her message commemorating the 2026 International Youth Day on Wednesday, also charged young Nigerians to embrace active citizenship and remain focused and hardworking in the pursuit of their dreams.

International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12 to draw attention to issues affecting young people and promote their participation in society.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”, the First Lady said that despite differences in backgrounds and circumstances, young people across the world are united by similar aspirations for a better future.

“Although young people come from diverse backgrounds and face different circumstances, they share common aspirations for quality education, meaningful employment, equal opportunities, and a more sustainable future”, she said.

Crime › Re: FCT Police Detain Four Officers For Allegedly Extorting ₦53,000 From ICPC Chairm by Micolikes: 2:59pm On Jul 20
If they could extort the ICPC Chairman, imagine what happens to ordinary citizens every day. Will this case lead to lasting reforms or just another headline? And this is exactly why many Nigerians have lost trust in stop-and-search operations. Every officer found guilty of extortion should be dismissed and prosecuted, not just detained.
Business › Dollar Sale Dispute: Fuel Marketers Suspend Dangote Petrol Loading As FG Interve by Micolikes(op): 10:35am On Jul 20
Petroleum marketers have temporarily suspended large-scale fuel loading from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery following the company's decision to begin selling petroleum products in U.S. dollars. The move has created uncertainty in Nigeria's downstream oil sector, prompting the Federal Government to step in to monitor the situation and seek a resolution.

Although some marketers expressed concerns that fuel loading had slowed significantly, the Dangote Refinery dismissed reports that operations had stopped, insisting that product loading is continuing at its Lekki facility.

According to industry stakeholders, many marketers have adopted a wait-and-see approach as they seek clarity on the refinery's new pricing structure. They are also monitoring the arrival of imported petroleum products before making fresh purchases, fearing they could buy at current prices only for market rates to decline shortly afterward.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chinedu Ukadike, explained that marketers are relying on existing fuel stocks purchased at previous prices while closely watching market developments. He noted that uncertainty over future crude supply and the pricing of imported petrol has made many dealers cautious about placing new orders.

With the Federal Government now involved, industry players hope a resolution will be reached soon to prevent any disruption to fuel supply or unexpected changes in pump prices.

Do you think the Federal Government's intervention will resolve the dispute quickly, or could this situation lead to another increase in fuel prices? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Business › Petrol Imports Rose By 207% In June – NMDPRA by Micolikes(op): 9:15am On Jul 20
Nigeria’s petrol imports surged by 207 per cent in June 2026, reversing earlier gains recorded in domestic refining as local supply declined sharply, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

An analysis of the authority’s monthly petrol supply data for the first six months of 2026 showed that while domestic refineries remained the major source of supply for most of the period, imports increased significantly in June following a drop in local output.
In January, petrol imports averaged 24.8 million litres per day (ml/d), accounting for 38.2 per cent of total supply, while domestic supply stood at 40.1ml/d, representing 61.8 per cent of the 64.9ml/d average daily supply.

The following month, imports declined sharply to 3.0ml/d, accounting for 9.3 per cent of total supply, as domestic supply rose to 29.4ml/d, representing 90.7 per cent of the combined 32.4ml/d daily supply.

In March, petrol imports increased slightly to 5.9ml/d, representing 14.7 per cent of total supply, while domestic supply contributed 34.2ml/d, or 85.3 per cent, of the 40.1ml/d total supply.

The dominance of local supply continued in April, as imports averaged 3.7ml/d, accounting for 8.3 per cent of total supply, while domestic supply stood at 40.7ml/d, representing 91.7 per cent of the combined 44.4ml/d daily supply.

In May, imports rose marginally to 5.9ml/d, representing 12.4 per cent of total supply, while domestic supply increased to 41.5ml/d, accounting for 87.6 per cent of the 47.4ml/d average daily supply.

However, the trend changed significantly in June, when petrol imports climbed to 18.1ml/d, representing 35.8 per cent of total supply, from 5.9ml/d recorded in May.
The June figures represent a 207 per cent month-on-month increase in petrol imports, while domestic supply fell by 21.7 per cent compared with May. The six-month data showed that Nigeria relied mainly on domestic supply between February and May, with local sources contributing more than 85 per cent of petrol supply during the period.

However, January and June recorded the highest dependence on imports, with imported petrol accounting for 38.2 per cent and 35.8 per cent of total supply respectively.

The development signals renewed dependence on imported petrol despite the Federal Government’s efforts to achieve energy self-sufficiency through increased local refining capacity.

The increase in imports coincided with reports of crude supply challenges affecting domestic refiners, including the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote Refinery, which has reportedly had to source crude at international prices, affecting production levels.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Superb Spain Rule The World, Overwhelm Argentina by Micolikes(op): 9:06am On Jul 20
Spain finally broke Argentina’s dogged resistance in extra time to win the men’s World Cup for the second time with a 1-0 victory.

The Barcelona winger Ferran Torres scored the only goal of a disjointed game that was almost ruined by Argentina’s deliberate spoiling tactics, which backfired when they were reduced to 10 men for extra time by the late dismissal of Enzo Fernández for two yellow cards. Spain had dominated throughout, having 20 shots to an extraordinary two from Argentina both as they chased an equaliser –and were finally rewarded when Torres broke the deadlock in the 106th minute.

Pedro Porro’s cross to the back post was kept in play brilliantly by Nico Williams, with Torres pouncing to fire beyond Emi Martínez and send the Spanish into raptures. Martínez had performed brilliantly to keep Argentina in the contest with a string of superb saves, but most neutrals and the many celebrities in attendance will have been pleased to see him finally beaten given his side’s cynical tactics. Argentina did not even attempt a shot on goal until the 115th minute when Lionel Messi, making his final World Cup appearance, struck the ball at the head of Mikel Merino. There were ugly scenes after the final whistle, with Argentina’s Nahuel Molina and Leandro Paredes in particular reacting aggressively and players briefly scrapped. Paredes shoved Gavi to the turf and was sent off.

Messi, 39, may have played his last World Cup game and he can take enormous credit for dragging his ageing team to the final after they were pushed to the limit in knockout games against Egypt and England.

But on Sunday, he was largely shut out of the game as Spain imposed their smooth passing game and refused to shirk physical challenges.

The South Americans had been aiming to become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to win consecutive World Cups. But Spain were faster, slicker and younger.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni admitted Spain had deserved to win.

“They were the better side that’s the truth but I’ll cherish the memory of (this team), of what they achieved, and of the value of making it this far,” said Scaloni, who later broke down in tears at his post-game press conference.

The approval, conveyed through the Federal Ministry of Education, will see the NECO SSCE registration fee rise from ₦30,000 to ₦50,000, while the WAEC fee will increase from ₦27,000 to the same amount.

Politics › US Congressman Riley Moore Alleges Fulani Militants Drive Violence Against Chris by Micolikes(op): 9:21pm On Jul 11
Riley Moore Nigeria Christians has become a topic of international discussion after United States Congressman Rep. Riley Moore renewed calls for stronger American engagement in addressing the ongoing security crisis affecting parts of Nigeria, particularly the country's Middle Belt.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Moore said he has been investigating what he described as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. He alleged that Fulani militants are responsible for a significant proportion of attacks against Christian communities and urged the United States to broaden its security focus beyond terrorist groups operating in the country's northeast.

His comments have once again drawn global attention to Nigeria's complex security challenges and the long-running debate over the causes of violence in the Middle Belt.

Moore Highlights Security Concerns Beyond Boko Haram

According to the congressman, the United States has made significant progress in supporting efforts against extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), both of which have carried out deadly attacks across northeastern Nigeria for more than a decade.

However, Moore argued that addressing terrorism alone is not enough if violence in central Nigeria continues.

He maintained that additional international attention should be directed toward protecting communities affected by recurring attacks in the Middle Belt, stressing that people should be able to live and practice their faith without fear of violence.

His remarks reflect a growing interest among some members of the U.S. Congress in Nigeria's security and religious freedom situation.

The Middle Belt Remains One of Nigeria's Most Volatile Regions

Nigeria's Middle Belt has experienced years of insecurity involving multiple forms of violence. The region has witnessed clashes between farming communities and nomadic herders, criminal attacks by armed groups, communal conflicts, and banditry.

Human rights organizations, religious groups, and security analysts have often offered differing interpretations of these conflicts. Some Christian organizations argue that many attacks specifically target Christian communities, while other experts emphasize that competition over land, grazing routes, water resources, ethnic tensions, and weak security institutions all contribute to the violence.

The complexity of the conflict has made finding lasting solutions particularly difficult.

Federal Government Maintains Different Position

The Nigerian Federal Government has consistently rejected claims that there is an organized genocide against Christians.

Government officials have repeatedly stated that insecurity in the Middle Belt is driven primarily by criminality, banditry, terrorism, and disputes over natural resources rather than a coordinated campaign of religious persecution.

Authorities have also emphasized that victims of violence come from different religious and ethnic backgrounds, arguing that reducing the conflict to religion alone oversimplifies a much broader security challenge.

This difference in interpretation continues to shape both domestic and

Health › Ankle Healing And Deep Yin Stretching: How Gentle Movement Can Relieve Severe An by Micolikes(op): 10:06am On Jul 11
Ankle pain can be one of the most frustrating and limiting forms of physical discomfort. When the ankle becomes extremely sore, swollen, or tender, even the simplest movements walking, standing, or turning can feel overwhelming. For many people, ankle pain doesn’t just affect mobility; it affects mood, sleep, independence, and emotional well-being.

When an ankle injury or persistent soreness becomes “very, very sore,” as many people describe it, the body is asking for care, patience, and the right kind of healing approach. This article explores ankle healing through gentle methods, with a special focus on yin deep stretching, a slow and mindful practice that can support recovery without forcing the body.

Understanding Severe Ankle Pain
The ankle is a complex joint made up of bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles working together to support the entire body’s weight. Because of this, even minor strain can feel intense, and deeper injuries can take time to heal.

Severe ankle pain may come from:

Ligament strain or sprain
Overuse or repetitive stress
Poor circulation or stiffness
Previous injuries that never fully healed
Inflammation caused by tight surrounding tissues
When pain lingers, the instinct is often to either push through it or completely stop moving. Both extremes can slow down ankle healing. What the ankle often needs instead is gentle, intentional movement that restores circulation without adding stress.

Why Gentle Movement Is Essential for Ankle Healing
Complete rest can be helpful in the early stages of injury, but long-term stiffness can set in if the ankle is not gradually reintroduced to movement. Gentle stretching encourages blood flow, reduces swelling, and helps tissues regain elasticity.

This is where yin stretching becomes especially valuable. Unlike aggressive stretching or fast-paced exercise, yin focuses on slow, supported positions held for longer periods of time. This allows the deeper connective tissues around the ankle to soften naturally.

What Is Yin Deep Stretching?
Yin stretching is a slow, meditative style of stretching that targets ligaments, fascia, and joints rather than muscles alone. Instead of forcing flexibility, yin encourages the body to relax into a position over time.

For ankle healing, yin stretching:

Reduces stiffness without strain
Improves joint mobility gently
Encourages circulation in deep tissues
Helps calm the nervous system, which can reduce pain perception
Because yin stretching is done slowly and with awareness, it is ideal for people dealing with pain, sensitivity, or emotional stress connected to injury.

Yin Stretching for Ankle Healing
When practicing yin stretching for ankle healing, comfort and patience are essential. The goal is not to push into pain, but to explore sensation gently.

Key Principles to Follow
Move slowly and mindfully
Use pillows, towels, or blankets for support
Stop immediately if sharp pain appears
Breathe deeply throughout each stretch
Gentle Yin-Based Ankle Stretches
1. Seated Ankle Circles (Slow and Supported)
Sit comfortably and gently rotate the ankle in slow circles. Keep the movement small and controlled. This helps lubricate the joint and restore natural motion.

2. Supported Ankle Flex and Point
While seated or lying down, slowly point the foot away from you and then gently flex it back. Hold each position for a few breaths without forcing the range.

3. Reclined Ankle Stretch
Lie on your back with the ankle elevated slightly on a pillow. Let gravity gently assist circulation while you softly flex and relax the foot.

4. Yin Toe and Sole Stretch
With the ankle supported, gently stretch the sole of the foot and toes. Tension in the foot often contributes to ankle pain, and releasing it can bring relief.

Each stretch can be held for one to three minutes, depending on comfort level.

Emotional Healing and Ankle Pain
Pain is not only physical it can also carry emotional weight. When someone is hurting, especially from an injury connected to daily life or family stress, the body can hold onto tension longer than expected.

Yin stretching offers emotional benefits alongside physical ones. The stillness allows space for calm, reflection, and

Politics › APC Youth Defends Remi Tinubu’s Akara Comment As Debate Over Poverty And Dignit by Micolikes(op): 9:56am On Jul 11
The Remi Tinubu akara comment has continued to dominate Nigeria’s public discourse, exposing deep tensions around poverty, gender, and the realities of economic survival. As criticism mounted over the First Lady’s advice encouraging Nigerians, especially women to embrace small-scale trading, an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader has stepped forward to defend her remarks, arguing that petty trading represents dignity, not degradation.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the unnamed APC youth leader insisted that selling akara or kuli-kuli was far more honorable than being associated with crime or exploitation. His remarks, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, have reignited the controversy and expanded it beyond the First Lady’s original comments into a broader national conversation about class, morality, and empowerment in modern Nigeria.

What the APC Youth Leader Said
The youth leader made his comments while addressing the alleged replacement of Adamu Tanko in the Gurara Federal Constituency of Niger State. However, it was his response to public backlash against the First Lady that drew the most attention.

Wearing a cap resembling those associated with President Bola Tinubu, he argued that Nigerians were misrepresenting the First Lady’s intentions.

According to him, there was nothing shameful about selling akara, kuli-kuli, or other street foods.

“Is it not better to be noble than to be doing filthy things?” he asked rhetorically.
“Is it not better they know you as an akara seller than to be known as an armed robber?”

He went further, making comments that quickly sparked backlash of their own, suggesting that petty trading was preferable to women being labelled prostitutes, hookup girls, or sugar mummies.

The Akara Comment That Started It All
The controversy began when First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses such as selling akara, roasted corn, and kuli-kuli ventures she described as requiring little startup capital.

She made the remarks while addressing journalists after the Renewed Hope Initiative’s second-quarter meeting with the wives of state governors at the State House in Abuja.

While supporters viewed the statement as an endorsement of micro-enterprise and self-reliance, critics argued it trivialised the severe economic hardship facing millions of Nigerians amid inflation, rising food prices, and stagnant wages.

For many struggling citizens, the suggestion felt disconnected from reality.

Defending the First Lady’s Broader Interventions
In his defence, the APC youth leader argued that the akara comment should not be used to judge the First Lady’s entire record on empowerment.

He cited several interventions attributed to her initiatives, including:

₦2 billion donated to tuberculosis-related causes
₦1 billion allocated to tackling malnutrition
₦1.5 billion reportedly directed toward addressing cancer and hypertension cases
He also referenced the ₦100 million grant distributed to women, explaining that beneficiaries were encouraged to choose any small business of their preference not specifically akara trading.

“My mother sells akara,” he said, insisting that such work should not be looked down upon.

Why the Comment Struck a Nerve
The strong public reaction to the Remi Tinubu akara comment reveals more than just disagreement over words it highlights Nigeria’s widening economic and social fault lines.

1. The Reality of Economic Hardship
For many Nigerians, especially urban youth and graduates, petty trading is not a choice but a last resort. Critics argue that framing it as empowerment ignores structural failures such as unemployment, inflation, and weak social safety nets.

2. Gender and Class Sensitivities
The suggestion that women should turn to small-scale trading touched a nerve, particularly among women who feel the burden of economic survival falls disproportionately on them.

The APC youth leader’s comparison between petty trading and prostitution further inflamed the situation, with many accusing him of reinforcing harmful stereotypes.
