Ihuzimora:
FAKE PROMISES Taking us for cheap fools, during the time of the pools, our children they used on thugs, while theirs studied in comfort abroad.

They try to lure us with bags of rice, making electoral noises like lice, their fake promises filled the air, because they think we're the hunger pair.

Then we fell for their lies, and their fakeness destroyed our lives, their promises buried in an early grave. and our problems multiplied by an octave.

Our roads are no different from death traps, as people die there everyday in piles, our schools, a pathetic excuse of one, as our children strive day and night to learn.

We strive to earn a living, but kleptomaniac tap on our income without reasoning, we start afresh to battle, while our income serve as another man's mantle.

Those who promised us enjoy their lives, on our sweat they feed on all, fake promises.
nice one Ihuzimora. poem criticising false electoral promises. Nice one

THE SUN

The sun, a bright gift given to man,
to light the way through the day
even as the night quickly came,
the sun beautifully fades.

The sun even as unruly as it is,
interrupting fearlessly the quiet time of lovers,
with its rays, it threatens their eyes
and its brightness their bodies.

The sun even as beautiful as it is,
shines even on the bad,
to radiate its beauty on their evil,
a beauty without partiality

The sun even as powerful as it is,
forcing itself to shine even in the rain,
slowly withdraws once it's dusk,
because even in its strength, it knows its time.

Hello writers,

I love your works and most of it helps me through the day.

I decided to give ten thousand Naira to the best original poem of 200 words...not more than 200 words and not less.

Post your work here and let it be an original work.

Winner will be decided by the number of likes he/she gets on his post.

Open to other ways of suggesting a winner but I think that the above suggestion is the most transparent.

Thanks for participating.

Prize is 10,000 Naira. Will be wired to winners account or given cash depending on the winners preference.

Competition ends on Monday 21st August 2017
the poem "I have a dream" has the highest likes for now, but I think you should look into the originality of that poem. I didn't submit anything but I am a poem lover and I know a good one wen I see it, that is not an original work, I don't know about others' views and opinions.

Ihuzimora:
My Letter of Guilt

I woke up this morning,
asking myself if I still felt guilty,
guilty for ignoring what I should've done,
and I discovered that even the guilt of what I had done,
still gnawed deep at my soul

Looking back its already late to take back all I had done,
the turbulent growl of my conscience numbed me continually,
and the fear vibrated my whole being like the whirr and him of a violin,
yes I still felt the guilt.

The mistakes of youth and its excitement,
has turned me to a bagful of regrets,
and the consequences with it,
nearly tagged my life a wasted one
and yes I still feel guilty.

Guilty for allowing my ears bath in false doctrines,
for allowing wrong ways seduce me like a LovePeddler,
and letting my legs swim in the oceans of evildoings,
and for letting my visions get blurred by wicked practices.

I had taken to beers like sweet wine,
and I had let the smoke from the pipe destroy my lungs,
tell me why I shouldn't feel guilty,
Even as I remembered the consequences that awaited me now,
I know I'm being encumbered with a burden of regrets.
yes I am.
Youthful exuberance and its rewards...I could go for dz any day. Nice one Ihuzimora

****I HAVE A DREAM****

I have a dream,
A dream that will be beneficial to every man, woman, boy and girl.
A dream that no one would ever forget in a hurry.
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
That one day this country would produce great agriculturist and agricultural enginneers,
And then, there will no longer be food sarcasity or food shortage,
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
That this country will produce,
powerful academics and youth passionate about education,
That will move this country to the highest point in the educational world.
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
A wonderful dream, I saw this country produce great scientist, world-class technicians and engineers,
That will help move this country to the unattainable point in the world of science.
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
That one day,
In this great country, we would be able to sleep with our two eyes closed,
Without fear of armed robbers, terrorists and famine.
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
A dream of a better country,
Functioning educational system, good roads, constant electricity, terrorist-free and hunger free.
I dream of a united country.
I have a dream, yes!
And my dream shall come to pass!
Oh no... Marthin. L.K's dreams every wia. this is jxt like a copy and paste of his work.
