TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Mide24(m): 8:13pm On Jul 27, 2023
Towotowo:
Hello, for those that applied for visa at ikeja, does anyone know if i can get close dates for appointment if i am booking for priority ?
You should be able to get close dates by upgrading your visa application experience by using one of TLScontact and/or UKVI services which priority service is one of them.

Although if your application is Non Straight Forward (NSF) i.e more information is required from you, your application will still be delayed beyond the stated timeline for priority services.

If you still have the luxury of time because priority services are used by applicants with short days to resume school, you can simply use one of the following on their site.

This is done by simply paying for one of their other TLS value added services such as;

Premium Lounge for N44,000 (Less queue inside and you get to relax at their lounge with any of their complimentary drinks, snacks, tea and anything available before and after your biometrics)

Prime Time Appointment for N38,500 (This is if you can’t come to the visa centre during business hours)

Assisted Service for N12,300 (You get all your documents scanned and uploaded by them at the center if you don’t wish to self upload)

Lastly, It is also advised on this trend which I will quote

“Ideally you should upload all your documents 24-48hours before your biometrics if you choose the self upload appointment. I always advice 72hours to avoid stories”

“With assisted there's nothing to do, you only need to take your documents to your appointment and it will be uploaded at TLS”

Shekemsheke:
Please help me out with clarification. Since during visa application, banks are contacted to confirm or verify the authenticity of the POF/SOA by visa officer. My bank statement for POF I generated from my phone app doesn't bear any bank email address or phone number of the bank on my bank statement of account which is from my GLOBUS Bank. Do visa offers have other official means of reaching or contacting banks when the need arises or for confirmation and verification without depending on email address or phone number on my SOA/POF? Because mine doesn't bear any email address or phone number.
I used Globus bank for my Visa Application this month which was successful. The statement of account was generated through my banking application which was delivered to my mail in pdf. It didn’t contain any contact details apart from the branch address which was ikeja, my address and account class. it was only signed, stamped, the bank logo reflecting and other details for a statement of account.

I am just checking now self based on your enquiry and my decision letter date reflects the following day after my biometrics.

This is to let you know that UKVI has there own ways of reaching out to various banks and Globus bank is fast at replying any enquiry or verification from the embassy.

So far your statement of account is true and genuine, you have nothing to worry about.

Good luck with your visa application.

Congratulations bro.

I had biometric 10th of July 2023, though I have 4 dependents , wife and 3 kids.

On the 11th all our applications were received by DMC. And its been there since that day till this moment.

Biometric was TLS ikeja too. This is also our second week after biometric.

What do you think could be the delay?
Thank you, I appreciate.

Like you stated, you have 4 dependents, while I don't have any. So, they might be taking time to review your application along with your dependents.

Also, i believe you haven't gotten any NSF mail too. If you provided all documents which can make you to avoid delays like documents to justify your study gaps like employment letters plus reference and proof of relationship linking you to your dependents like birth and marriage certificates etc, then you have nothing to worry about for now.

Your question or issue is hardly new on Nairaland because I didn’t have any reason to ask any questions during my process because the answers were all here. Although there is no harm asking but it will save you time.

This will also help you to avoid any form of delay which might arise.

BRAINNY:
Your situation isn't peculiar. Similar situation with yours biometric (Ikeja) -May 22nd; NSF Mail -June 28th, replied same day; Paid call( I was told they've escalated it). Well, as at yesterday, it was still at the DMC. Note that a lot of people don't use nairaland, we could have heard more of such complaints too. By the way, I have noted that such delays are common with the Ikeja centre. It's tiring to be candid but the waiting continues.
Anyone who can afford it and is using the Ikeja centre should simply go for priority or super priority to avoid this stress.
Actually, I don't think this issue is peculiar to those who used ikeja because remember TLS is the visa application center (VAC) and the branches are where biometrics are done. So far it has been transferred and received by DMC, TLS have no blame in delay.

Also most staffs are Nigerians, they only provide administrative support to send your application to DMC, while the decision making center (DMC) are more like the UKVI.

TLS job is just to upload documents, receive your biometrics and facial recognition, collect your passport, send to UKVI and return it to you when UKVI have made a decision. So any delay can simply be tracked on your dashboard for each applicant.

So far from my observations from individuals post, the issue is mostly peculiar to those with dependants, NSF mail requiring extra documents especially study gaps and interviews and those who their bank take long or have not replied to UKVI for verification.

Politics$31.4m Cash Deposit: How Patience Jonathan Forced EFCC To Expose Matter by Mide24(op): 10:13am On Sep 24, 2016
•EFFC had knowledge of fund since July
•Why action was not taken earlier

BY Sonny Daniel

HAD ex-First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan not claimed ownership of $31.4 million found in the bank account of a former presidential aide, Mr. Waripome Dudafa, the issue may not have been made public by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

EFCC boss Magu and Patience Jonathan
This was the outcome of an investigation by Saturday Vanguard into the matter that had elicited calls in the polity for the prosecution of the former First Lady.

Her decision to claim ownership of the money through a suit filed against Skye Bank at a Federal High Court in Lagos, it was learnt, easily made the commission to quit keeping the issue in the dark.

The EFCC, it was learnt, got wind of the account more than three months ago, but decided to keep mute in order not to be accused of singling her out for prosecution out of former first ladies’’.

A source told Saturday Vanguard that the operatives of the EFCC actually ran into the accounts in the course of investigating Dudafa over alleged diversion of N10 billion meant for Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, delegates.

The source said: “It was the former first lady who put herself in a tight corner by going to court to sue Skye Bank, where the money was traced to and also asked the court to compel the EFCC to defreeze her account. “Indeed, I can tell you that the EFCC was working actively on the Dudafa case without any letter of invitation or oral invitation to the woman but she went to court to expose everything and we had no choice but to respond to her challenge.

“It might interest you to note that these findings on these accounts were made since July this year but the details were yet to be made public when the former first lady slammed a fundamental rights enforcement suit on us and we were taken aback.’’

It will be recalled that a letter written by her lawyers on the matter, Granville Abibo ,SAN, and Co, stated thus: “It is noteworthy to emphasise that the said accounts, which were in US dollar denomination, were card-based accounts and our client is the sole signatory of these accounts.

“The said bank officials also assured our client that they will change the account names accordingly and issue to our client new credit cards for the said accounts which were not done despite repeated demands. “However, our client has been operating the said accounts using the cards for her medical bill payments and purchases for her private purposes without any let or hindrance.

“Our client was therefore surprised when the said cards stopped functioning on July 7, 2016, or thereabout. Our client immediately thereupon contacted Skye Bank Plc through our solicitors. It was only then that the bank officials informed our client that the said accounts were placed on a ‘No Debit Order’ following investigations and instructions from your commission and this is without notice to our client by either the bank or the commission.

“It is in the light of the foregoing that we urge you to use your good offices to vacate the ‘No Debit/Freezing Order’ placed on the said accounts.” Mrs. Jonathan had, in the meantime, given the EFCC 14 days to defreeze her account and tender an unreserved apology.

The ultimatum, which took effect on September 18, was contained in an open letter to the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

The letter which was written by Mr. Timipa Okponipere urged the Commission to leave Mrs. Jonathan alone, just as it cautioned thus: “We shall file an action at the African Commission on Human Rights at the Gambia demanding N5 billion in exemplary and punitive damages.”

The letter said: “There is no established legal or political precedent for what the EFCC is currently doing to our client. How many former First Ladies in Nigeria have received the Patience Goodluck Jonathan Treatment (PGJT) to have warranted the EFCC to engage in the effrontery to freeze our client’s accounts and subject her to public opprobrium, ridicule, and disgrace? This must stop forthwith.

“Our client is a respected senior citizen of international repute, a retired Permanent Secretary and the immediate past First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Our Client is a law-abiding citizen who has never or at all been the subject of any criminal or financial investigation, whether at home or abroad. Accordingly, she has not been found guilty of any criminal conduct throughout a sparkling public service career spanning over 35 years.

“During the 5 years our client served as First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between May 2010 and May 2015; she was the Initiator of the Aruera Women Foundation and Women For Change Initiative. “Our client is the recipient of numerous local and international awards in recognition of her untiring commitment towards uplifting the living standard of women, children and the aged in Nigeria.

“Sir, it is against this sterling and meritorious background of our client that we most respectfully, write to draw your attention to the numerous breaches of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act 2004 committed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in cause of the Commission’s illegal and unlawful investigation of our client for alleged money laundering.

“The EFCC must realize that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004 is inferior in content and quality to both the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, 2004.”

It could not be ascertained yesterday whether the EFCC would summon the former First Lady to appear before it. The commission appears to be restrained by public opinion that doing so might give the impression that it is trying to get at the husband. But our source said the commission was determined to carry out its job and may commence an investigation into assets worth billions of Naira allegedly owned by the former First Lady.

Foreign AffairsBe Yourself, Obama Tells Clinton Ahead Presidential Debate by Mide24(op): 7:45pm On Sep 23, 2016
President Barack Obama had a bit of advice Friday for Hillary Clinton, his Democratic Party’s White House nominee, who soon faces Republican rival Donald Trump in the first presidential debate.

Asked what suggestions he might offer Clinton ahead of the debate Monday, the president told ABC News, “Be yourself and explain what motivates you.”

He added that Clinton “is motivated by a deep desire to make things better for people.”

The nationally televised debate Monday, pitting the two major-party presidential candidates in a tight race just six weeks ahead of the November 8 election, is expected to smash audience records.

Each word, gesture and look will be parsed minutely.

In the ABC interview, Obama praised Clinton, a veteran politician who has so far failed to inspire much voter enthusiasm.

“I’ve gotten to know Hillary and seen her work and seen her in tough times and in good times,” he said of his former secretary of state. “She is in this for the right reasons.”

No woman has ever been elected US president, Obama noted, “so she is having to break down some barriers.”

“There is a level of mistrust and a caricature of her,” he added, “that doesn’t jibe with who I know, this person that cares deeply about kids.”

PoliticsChallenges: I Prayed To Be President, I Can’t Complain – Buhari by Mide24(op): 6:38pm On Sep 23, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that considering how hard he prayed to become the President of the country, he cannot complain about the challenges facing the country.

Buhari was quoted in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, as saying this while briefing Nigerian professionals in the United States about the challenges facing the country.

The President, who hailed the professionals for representing the country well, told them that Nigeria was in crisis because the leaders failed to plan for the future, adding that looters were trying to sabbotage efforts to turn the situation around.

He said, “”Those who stole Nigeria dry are not happy. They recruited the militants against us in the Niger Delta, and began to sabotage oil infrastructure. We lose millions of barrels per day, at a time when every dollar we can earn, counts.

“It is a disgrace that a minimum of 27 states, out of 36 that we have in Nigeria, can’t pay salaries.

“But I prayed so hard for God to make me President. I ran in 2003, 2007, 2011, and in 2015, He did. And see what I met on ground. But I can’t complain, since I prayed for the job.”

Buhari said although Nigerians made billions between 1999 and 2015, producing an average of 2.1 million barrels of oil per day with oil prices at an average of $100 per barrel, the country neither saved nor develop infrastructure.

“Suddenly, when we came (into power) in 2015, oil prices fell to about $30 per barrel.
“I asked; where are the savings? There were none. Where are the railways? The roads? Power? None. I further asked; what did we do with billions of dollars that we made over the years? They said we bought food. Food with billions of dollars? I did not believe, and still do not believe,” he said.

He also decried the failure of the country’s military, which was once respected globally, to tackle Boko Haram initially, allowing the insurgents to run riot, “killing innocent people in churches, mosques, markets, schools, motor parks, and so on”.

“And they would then shout Allahu Akbar. But if they truly knew Allah, they would not do such evil. Neither Islam, nor any other religion I know of, advocates hurting the innocent. But they shed innocent blood, killed people in their thousands. Now, we have dealt with that insurgency, and subverted their recruitment base,” he said.

The President, who said God has been very good to him, said he understood that things would not be easy for him and his party.

“After 16 years of a different party in government, no party will come and have things easy. It’s human,” he said.

PoliticsJibrin Can Escape Suspension If…. – Golu by Mide24(op): 7:43pm On Sep 21, 2016
By Emman Ovuakporie and Johnbosco Agbakwuru

ABUJA- CHAIRMAN, House Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Timothy Golu (PDP, Plateau), said despite the level of ridicule Jibrin had allegedly subjected the House to in the past two months, members were ready to forgive him if he could apologize to the House and Nigerians.

This is as Rep Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor has said that the allegation of budget padding by the erstwhile appropriation committee chairman against the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers was an indictment on the executive that implements projects.

Golu in his reaction to the resolution of the House that referred Jibrin to the Ethics and Privileges Committee for investigation said, “I believe knowing the person of the speaker, if Jibrin shows remorse and apologizes to the House, I can assure you that members will forgive him. We’re all human beings, but he has to tell Nigerians that all that he said were lies. I advise him to quickly do that.

“The display by most of us today was a natural thing to show our support for Dogara. No single member had any issue with the speaker. What happened was a disappointment to Jibrin. He only had five members behind him.

“We had expected Jibrin to first report the matter to the House, and if nothing was done, he could look elsewhere, but he didn’t do that. If he’s found guilty, he’ll face what the rules of the House say. He has already tarnished the image of the House,” he said.

Also commenting on the padding saga, Rep Mrakpor said, “Jibrin is entitled to his own opinion and I think he has decided to express his opinions the way he has been doing.

“But I don’t think that that is the same thing with the House. Some of those things are his imaginations because I have been in the State House of Assembly before I got in to this place, so, the word padding or not padding does not mean anything except he was saying that the executive does not know its job.

“If the executive is living up to its own duty as an arm of government, there is really nothing like padding. I just think some of these things are distractions to Nigerians because this time people are not able to pay school fees, everyday, unemployment is on the increase.”
