There has to be some form of information sharing for them to work together.

As for overstay rate, I dont think it's much of an issue. Ghana has an even higher overstay rate and is not on the ban list.

There's also one video I saw where Trump acknowledges that smaller universities will suffer without foreign students.

Fingers crossed.
Yes, there is some information sharing, but that is on the military side. The US is asking for information sharing on the civil side, such as access to personal data on individuals who have been jailed and are sponsoring terrorism in the country. The Ministry of Interior has been working on linking our NIN and NIS together. It is quite complex, but I hope it is all resolved soon.

I have to say the situation looks better compared to when I posted this

The US cannot on one hand say they banned Nigerians from travelling due to insecurity and on the other hand celebrate helping Nigeria fight insecurity.

I am positive that the ban will be likely be relaxed for some categories like F1.
“Nigeria was partially banned by the Trump administration due to security deficiencies in vetting and information-sharing, the presence of radical armed groups, and high visa overstay rates.”

Nigeria and the US are already working on the presence of radical armed groups, but I have not seen any information on information sharing, and I think that is very important. I hope we can improve information sharing without compromising ourselves as a sovereign nation.

Abi they should kuku hand over the government to Trump and not bother with the coming election again.
Information sharing indeed!
You should learn to read information and do research, and not comment ignorantly.

We all need to come together and do something.
What can be done? Nothing. We have to hope that our government do the right thing in terms of information sharing with the us government

Read a few posts above. Some with plenty of money to waste are still going.
No one made any mention of a fully funded program. All that was discussed was already known information. That’s what I am looking for- a fully funded visa interview

Honestly if you have a visa interview this period of the ban and you cannot reschedule, don’t just bother going. It’s paining me that I wasted my time. Even tried to prepare small. Got 2 hours of sleep. Got to embassy by 6am cause my interview was 6.30. Lined up. Did my interview around after 8 and nothing.

It was a waste of my time, I would have rather not even gone at all.

Some people there even had hope that magically they will receive the visa even while clearly seeing interviewers telling people there is a full ban
You need to be specific on what visa you applied for. Is it a visitor’s visa or student visa, and if it’s a student’s visa, was it fully funded?

Thanks for coming back and sharing. Your firsthand experience has cleared up all the nonsense some folks were spewing on the previous thread.

I hope the ban is lifted very soon and wish you all the best if and when you reapply .
Was it a fully funded Masters or PhD program or a pay out of pocket program
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by MikeBlazee: 1:44pm On Apr 04
Please, has anyone gone to the US embassy in Abuja or Lagos for a F-1 Visa interview recently for a fully funded PhD program?
