I'd say 80% because back in the early 2000s the language was compulsory in all SA schools until 2008 when some schools removed it from their syllabus because apparently it represented the apartheid era.

As long as you teach Afrikaans in schools that accept and recognize the language, then it won't be a problem.

my point is we cant see our native languages in schools because we don't have a general language asides English

What's the difference between a national language and an official language? because to me they're the same thing, as they're recognised by the country's constitution.

But of course, we still do most of the things in English in order to make life easier, but there are still some schools that teach all the subjects in Afrikaans, except English, and also there are some universities too that use strictly Afrikaans, with English translators for those who didn't do it back in school.

so we can say over 90% of SA speak Afrikaans, so teaching in Afrikaans won't be an issue in SA. but we don't have a language like that in Nigeria that's why we all speak English.

If only many governors in south south and South East can focus on development and do similar thing, development will be spreading fast. See Delta that receives highest allocation and owes pensioners for over 6 years yet no infrastructure.

Lagos receives more than Delta

problem of nigeria is not the structures. its the people. i wish people would go back to dressing decent in suits and agbadas and shirts and shoes. am tired of looking at unkempt people on the streets . am tired of seeing dreadlocks and tattoos . these people look dangerous. wish people would go back to acting civilized

Means you don't have problem.. with everything going on in the country you are only bothered about dressing.

That's easy, here in SA, most multiracial schools or schools that have children from different cultures ensure that they have more than one home language as a subject.. they'd have at least three or four home languages as subjects and the child will decide which language to choose.

Or the parents could take the child to a school that has their home language as a subject, but at the same time I still don't see anything wrong with the child learning another language from his or her country.

In that way, the child will be able to communicate with the people from the area that he or she lives properly.

What is the official language in SA

Nobody cares what Nigeria is. You don’t teach my child a regional language when the official language is something else. In Germany, their official language is German. In Nigeria, the official language is English, not Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa. So why teach my child? If the official language was the same as the mother tongue being taught, then you’ll have a point. I’d rather my child learn the official language that’s being taught nationally than learn a regional language that’s not mine.

Additionally, you are talking as if it isn’t Nigeria, where people move frequently. Imagine I live in the west, and I have a child who has been taught with Yoruba up to primary 3 level, then we move to the north where the language of instruction is Hausa and my child has to begin primary 4 learning in Hausa. How do you expect such child to cope?

Or imagine a state with multiple tribes are native to the state, so if I move from one city to another in the same state, I’ll be forced to learn all the languages because that’s the language of instruction in school?

You are too wise

Imagine teaching English in your mother tongue.

Imagine teaching English in some mother tongues, wey I no go mention their names. What about mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics?

Imagine teaching law in the mother language.

Some languages must not dare, otherwise everywhere go scatter!

If you are not taught English, imagine how it would be at the markets, or in public places. Imagine how you go take toast woman for road. As you are speaking your own, she dey speak her own with hand sign to respond.

Primary schools don't take the subjects you mentioned

I was talking about the spread of the religion, not thousands but yeah during king Henry's reign, but they were also English men, they didn't force the Portuguese or Germans into Christianity.
Till today Muslims still kill people that don't follow their ideology.
Even as civilized as Qatar is they still have terrorist.

Muslim countries have always been plating tournaments in Western countries , they greave never forced their ideology on others ...but the westerners always try to do that on others...its absolutely wrong... WHEN IN ROME , ACT LIKE THE ROMANS ... na wetin white man talk ...but look at the nonsense these simps are doing

Islam was spread in Africa and mid east with force. Afghan, Iraq, Iran were not Muslim countries. At least the westerners are doing theirs without killing and raping .

Madness. I blame the churches and families that accept to make wives out of hoes. They will ask for genotype, blood group test and pregnancy test but they will not ask if the couples, especially the lady is sexually pure as a precondition for the solemnization of a marriage. Then when the couples start having sexually related issues in their marriage they will start rubbishing the marriage institution instead of calling out the fools that joined two misfits in an unholy matrimony. If every clergyman and every family enforced the virginity of ladies before marriage, this foolish mother will not allow her daughter have sex before marriage let alone going as far as recommending family planning for an underage girl and even the girl will never try any sexual nonsense knowing fully well she would be jeopardizing her chances of getting married. This will elevate the punishment for rape to capital punishment and will make rape victims easily prove their case.

Church marriage is a white man traditional marriage.
Engagement is out trad and that is what God recognise for Africans, and court is what the law requires. Don't carry church marriage for head it's just a blessing/thanksgiving, it is not compulsory.

Any child that wants to spoil will spoil, just pray to have good kids.

You are the one trying to make an issue outside what it is.

Nigeria typically has 8k students going abroad in a single year.

This time it is 66 thousand.

Make of that what you will.

Before the 66k this year was there spike in forex or not. If there was, what caused it?

Sahara reporters used the word "blame".

The CBN has to state it in statistical terms.

Stop the sentiments and concentrate on the issue.
So the issue is Nigerians studying abroad?
If you want statistics I am sure they can give you that, doesn't make them facts.
At this point they should just admit they don't know what they are doing .

You guys are too sentimental.

The average any given year was always 8k but in 2022, it is 66k.

It is in the report.

When was the spike in dollars? How much was dollars last year.. when it jumped to 400 was it students too, when it spiked to 600plus was it the students too. They even went ahead to blame a site (abokifx) didn't it continue to rise. Here we are now and he is blaming students studying abroad.

The other day, UK acknowledged over 500k immigrants were settled into the country in 2022 alone.

People have been schooling abroad for years. The CBN gov and the other economist around him are clueless.

Pastor is not a hypocrite.

Many churches have a 'NO TESTING BEFORE PURCHASE' policy. Or , to put it bluntly 'NO SAMPLING BEFORE PURCHASE'

The reason why they do it...it is because if you can resist temptation before marriage, you will be able to resist temptation AFTER marriage. Because adultery affects far too many people..especially when children are involved. (It is not a perfect rule, but you know...).

The bible is also very clear about that. No sechs before maridge.

You don't have to like the policy...and some pastors would go ahead if the copule repented before marriage.

First of all church wedding isn't a wedding it just blessing/thanksgiving. Traditional wedding is what God recognises. So one pastor can't come and tell me rubbish, I will find another pastor the same day
