Crime / 10 Gruesome Crimes Fit For Horror Movies by Miksyh: 11:01am On Jun 18, 2018
Some crimes are so terrible, so grisly, that they sound more like scenes from horror movies than news headlines. With films like Saw and
The Human Centipede , that’s a pretty high bar. While not all of the crimes on this list surpass the horror of sewing people together end-to-end, they are nonetheless terrifying enough to make us reconsider exactly how cruel, depraved, and irrational human minds can be.

After all, those plotlines have to come from somewhere, right? Be warned: This list is not for the faint of heart; turn away if you’re squeamish. That being said, here are ten gruesome crimes that wouldn’t have been out of place in the bloodiest of horror films .

10) ‘My Daddy Ate My Eyes’

Unbelievably, this is exactly what it sounds like.
In May 2009, 34-year-old Angelo Mendoza Sr. went on what may have been a PCP-induced spree of nightmarish acts, the worst of which included biting his four-year-old son’s left eye out of his face and maiming the other. But that wasn’t the end of it for Mendoza Sr. After mangling his son’s face, he made his way to the backyard of an empty house, chained himself to a tree, and asked a neighbor to “look into the Sun and pray with him.” He then began hacking at his own legs with an ax and a ceramic plate. He later tried to tell police that he and his son had been victims of the Mexican Mafia.

Frightened by his father’s crazed state, four-year-old Angelo Mendoza Jr. attempted to hide behind a large dresser, where neighbors later found him naked and unconscious. He shook violently when he awoke as police arrived, and after being taken to a hospital in Fresno, California, he told a volunteer, “My daddy ate my eyes.”

Angelo Mendoza Sr. was charged with mayhem, torture, and child cruelty . In February 2011, however, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Thankfully, Mendoza Jr.’s right eye recovered.

9) ‘Destroying Her Face’

Speaking of eyes . . .

After getting into a dispute with the mother of his child in September 2017, Michael Roberson attacked the woman in front of their child and a 16-year-old neighbor. At some point during the attack, he allegedly ripped out her eyes . Chattanooga police officers found the woman facedown beside the detached eyeballs. She had also been stabbed in the stomach and chest.

The 16-year-old neighbor, who tried to intervene when he saw Roberson “destroying her face,” was reportedly traumatized by the incident. As for Roberson, he claims to have no memory of the attack.

8 ) Sickening Abuse

In July 2011, ten-year-old Ame Deal died after she was stuffed in a padlocked 78- by 30- by 36-centimeter (31 x 12 x 14 in) footlocker by her family and left outside overnight in sweltering desert temperatures. Why did they do this? Because she took a Popsicle without permission.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this was not an isolated incident. Ame lived with her parents and other relatives, including 11 other children, in a filthy house in Phoenix, Arizona. She seemed to function as the family scapegoat, as she was the only child in the family to suffer such abuse. The other children even intentionally got her in trouble. The range of “punishments” Ame suffered included things like being beaten with a wooden paddle, also known to the family as “the butt buster,” crushing cans with her bare feet, eating dog feces if she missed any while cleaning up the yard, walking along pavement in 46-degree-Celsius (114 °F) temperatures, and being forced to do backbends for hours at a time.
Being locked inside the relatively tiny footlocker (Ame was 122 centimeters [4′] tall and weighed under 27 kilograms [60 lb]) was not an unusual occurrence for Ame, either. Sometimes, her relatives would kick or flip the box, throw it in the pool, or sit on it after forcing her into the cramped space. Witnesses say they could hear her inside, crying.

On the night of her death, one of her relatives forced her into a backbend for over two hours, physically putting her back into the position if she fell. He then told her to run around their yard in the 39-degree-Celsius (103 °F) heat before locking her inside the airtight container, in which she suffocated to death.

The adults in the house were sentenced to prison time ranging from ten to 76 years. John Allen, the man who locked Ame in the box, and his wife Samantha Allen, Ame’s cousin and one of her key abusers, were sentenced to death .

7) Forced Abortion

This story goes from bad to absolute nightmare.
A 14-year-old girl in Dallas, Texas, became pregnant after a relative sexually assaulted her. Upset by her pregnancy , her family members then beat her until she forcibly aborted the baby.

Between January and March 2013, the victim’s cousins first tried to give the poor girl multiple doses of birth control pills, emergency contraceptive pills, and cinnamon tablets in an effort to terminate the pregnancy. These attempts were, in part, because one of the victim’s relatives, Cecila McDonald (center above), was afraid that Child Protective Services would find out about the underage pregnancy and take her children away. She was overheard yelling at the victim, “[Expletive], you ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me."

When their first attempts didn’t work, the victim’s cousins then pinned her down in the living room. One of them, Lonnell McDonald (left above), sat on her stomach and began bouncing up and down. Perhaps fearing this wasn’t enough, Lonnell called over assistance in the form of another relative, Cedric Jones Jr. (right above). Upon arriving, Lonnell reportedly told Jones Jr. “he had already been kicking the sh—t out of the b—ch.” The suspects then punched and kicked the victim in the stomach until she began vomiting and cramping, eventually delivering what “she believed was a stillborn baby.”

The suspects then threw the baby into a plastic mop bucket and later attempted to burn it on their charcoal grill.

Four of the girl’s relatives were charged with criminal activity, and a fifth was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Four of the five received prison time.

Crime / 10 Failed Terrorist Plots by Miksyh: 8:38am On Jun 18, 2018
Terrorism has been a buzzword for people in the media and the government ever since the infamous September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001. According to Merriam-Webster, a terrorist is defined as “an advocate or practitioner of terrorism as a means of coercion.” This can be pretty broad but in today’s world, but everyone seems to know what a terrorist is, as many people have seen them on the news networks or, unfortunately, experienced their damage through the awful acts they execute.

A lot of the time, when terrorists are seen on the news, it is because their plots have been successful and have managed to injure or kill innocent people. However, sometimes, the terrorists’ plans don’t always pull through, and they are busted prior to the act being committed or are foiled by their own incompetence. Either way, terrorist groups have been a recurring problem, not just in the United States but in the entirety of the world for most of modern history. Luckily for innocent people, sometimes, terrorist plots are thwarted or fail, and below are ten examples of just that.

10) Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab

Christmas is usually filled with joy and merry wishes, but Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was looking to make Christmas Day in 2009 a dark and violent day to be remembered in history. Abdulmutallab became known as the Underwear Bomber when he attempted to smuggle a bomb onto a commercial airliner in, you guessed it, his underwear. On this almost fateful December 25, Abdulmutallab was able to successfully get through security and board a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit with the homemade explosive securely on his person. Fortunately for everyone on the flight, when he attempted to detonate the device as the plane was descending, it malfunctioned. There was a much smaller explosion, which some onboard said sounded like a small firecracker, and Abdulmutallab himself caught on fire from the device in his pants.

He was immediately detained by Good Samaritans on the flight, who put out the fire he had caused and escorted him up to the first-class section, where he was restrained until they could land and he could be taken into proper custody. After an investigation, it was uncovered that he was a part of an Al-Qaeda plot stemming from Yemen. Abdulmutallab was ultimately sentenced to life in prison after he changed his plea from innocent to guilty.

9) Guy Fawkes

Although terrorists seem to be prevalent in today’s society, terrorism certainly did not start in recent times and has been around for centuries. An earlier example is that of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in which several men attempted to blow up the House of Lords in
London on November 5, 1605. The king was present for the State Opening, along with many members of Parliament, making this a plot to assassinate the king and many of his high-ranking constituents. The plan was thwarted due to an anonymous letter sent to Lord Monteagle, pleading with him to not go to the State Opening. Unsure whether the letter was valid or not, the building was searched on November 4 for any unusual items. Sure enough, while searching the cellar at midnight, a man named Guy (or Guido) Fawkes was found with barrels of gunpowder.

After the plot was foiled, Fawkes and the surviving conspirators were sentenced to death for treason and subsequently executed by hanging, drawing, and quartering on January 30 and 31, 1606. To deter future terrorist behavior, the limbs and decapitated heads of the traitors were posted around the city.

8 ) Lackawanna Six

Western New York, known usually only for mediocrity or the antics of the Buffalo Bills, also served as a breeding ground to six men who were arrested for terrorist ties in 2002. The six men from Lackawanna, New York, were arrested after it was uncovered that they had attended an Al-Qaeda-sponsored training camp in Afghanistan. The FBI received an anonymous letter stating the suspicious activities of the men, all of whom had Yemeni ancestry, and they did the rest.

The men’s support for the terrorist group was seen as alarming behavior, and they were arrested. The men pleaded guilty to aiding Al-Qaeda and were sentenced to prison. As they had not actually engaged in any planning or taken any action, they received sentences of seven to ten years, rather than life sentences, and have since been released. They currently work and reside in the same neighborhood they once lived in and are said to have put the whole thing behind them with great remorse.

7) Faisal Shahzad

When planning an attack against their enemies, terrorists are looking to inflict two things in particular: fear and death. Looking for places to bomb usually means seeking out high-traffic areas with a high volume of people flowing through. This is why Times Square stands out as a big target for terrorists to plant explosives, and Faisal Shahzad knew this. In 2010, he loaded up his vehicle with a crude bomb and drove near Times Square, where he illegally parked before fleeing the vehicle.

Prior to fleeing, he lit the fuse for the bomb, hoping chaos would soon ensue, but due to a wiring failure in the bomb, the explosives were rendered useless, and Shahzad’s suspicious behavior caused people to....... Continue >>

The idea of a contact lens as a visual aid first started to float about the ideas ring in 1508. Like many of this time’s revolutionary and forwardly-thought ideas it was the intellectual property of inventing boss-man Leonardo Da Vinci. Da Vinci described a method of directly altering the corneal power of sight by either submerging ones head in a bowl of water, or by wearing some form of water-filled glass hemisphere over the eye. However, this proved to be sadly impractical like many of Da Vinci’s other inventions (e.g. the helicopter), due to the age in which he lived in.

Further down the line in 1636, French philosopher René Descartes proposed the idea of a glass tube filled with liquid to be placed in direct contact with the cornea. The protruding end of this tube was to be composed of glass and shaped to correct vision.

This proved to be impractical too, as the ungainly size and shape of it prevented the wearer from blinking. Fast forward to 1887, Germany, where German glass-blower F.E. Muller produces the first ever eye covering to be both seen through and tolerated by the wearer. A year later, in 1888, German ophthalmologist Adolf Fick – working from Muller’s findings – constructed and fitted the first contact lens from blown glass.....

Time is the form where both physical and mental processes take place. The concept of time is used both in physics and in philosophy. Despite the fact that everyone knows that a day has 24 hours, an hour has 60 minutes, and a minute has 60 seconds, etc., our sense of time is individual, and it can change during the day and during parts of our lifetime .

Most often we hear complaints from elderly people claiming that the days have become much shorter than they used to be. Obviously, this is their subjective sensation, which is connected with the fact that the life of an elderly person is often rather monotonous and less eventful than younger people.
The idea of time perception can be applied in practice and take advantage of. If we load our
brain with new information, the extra time it takes to process it will make us feel that time is moving much more slowly and the day will seem significantly longer as a result.

You can make your day last longer in five ways:

-STUDYING

Reading, attending various courses, mastering new knowledge and skills will give a plenty of new food for thought, which will feel like time goes by slower.

-Visiting new places and getting out of the box

New information (new people, smells, sounds,
colors , etc.) needs to be processed by the brain when you change the environment. It does not necessarily have to be a trip. You can change the environment by taking your work to a cafe, choosing a new restaurant for dinner, or changing the route going for a daily walk.
