BusinessAm I Being Scammed?- Skye Bank Charged Me A 50% Interest Rate. by Mimi525(op): 1:56am On May 28, 2018
So I borrowed money from skye bank last year (1 million naira). I needed the money to help pay for my sisters tuition. As at then, i thought the interest rate was 14% at the time, making my total fee 1.14 million right? So I would be paying roughly 100,000 naira every month for a year. They deduct money from my salary monthly, because I got the loan with the help of my company. I started paying back in October, but I honestly felt that my pay was reduced by a lot more than 100k. So I went to the bank to complain sometime this year, and they told me that the interest is central bank rate huh. Anyway, I asked for my loan statement, and they said they were going to send it to me by email. I kept going to the bank since February. They just now sent the statement this month. I turns out that I had been paying 146,000 naira every month. Thats not even the worst part--I still owe about 1.5 million naira. Ive been paying every month since last October, and its May, and Im still owing that much. I have no savings left, the rest of my salary is used on food, transportation, and other bills. I dont even have extra money to go watch a movie. I thought I would be in this condition for only a year. I feel really frustrated now. So is this normal for banks to do? Can they just charge you ridiculously high interest rates without your consent? I dont know what to do now. I dont have 1.5 million, and im not prepared to keep paying for another year or two because i eventually need to save up for my rent.
PoliticsRe: Why South East Should Remain In Nigeria By Ifeanyi Ubah by Mimi525: 2:11pm On Feb 27, 2017

Biafra will be the economic heart of Africa
No, it wont. You will only continue the blood shed. Do you know that Nigeria will be landlocked without the southeast and you think they're just going to let the south east go. It wont benefit either of us. What concrete argument do you have for seceding from Nigeria other than false conspiracies and ethnocentrism? Instead of working together to make the country better, you keep talking about division. Right now, all you have is oil which will soon be worthless as non-fossil fuel energy is being promoted. What will you do then? No doubt the Agboni people are suffering but instead of blaming your leaders who turn a blind eye to whats going on, you blame the rest of the country that has no idea of whats happening. Now, people are beginning to hear about this and are now helping, yoruba included.

Utter BS!!
So Gowon and Ojukwu went to Aburi...negotiated a settlement of their own freewill only for Gowon to come back and say that certain parts of an agreement he negotiated himself won't hold anymore... I mean who does thathuh
I think Nigerians are tired of being one country.... Just look at that kinda BS these chaps are feeding us with, as if our brains are filled with sewage undecided

For Igbos... Its time to upp the momentum and forge a new country. Nigeria is dead!
That is so stupid. How do people think that we are not better together. Whether or not you understand it the bigger the country's land mass, the better chances a country can succeed. The Hausa's have vast land for farming. Igbo's have oil, and the yoruba's have infrastructure and technology. How do you not realize the beautiful things the three cultures can do for the country. Only older folks are stuck with this stupid mentality. The younger Igbo's, yoruba's and Hausa's dont engage in this petty nonsense. We have found a way to live peacefully in Lagos and become productive with the help of everyone. What is wrong with Your generation. If White people can get along with black people in ghettos in the USA. What excuse do you have. Lets stop this ridiculous infighting and and find a way to get rid of our corrupt leaders of every tribe, and move foward.
PoliticsNo hope For The Future Kids Of Nigeria by Mimi525(op):
While I continue to watch Nigeria decline and the incompetent government stealing money, I feel very anxious for the future of the country. The leaders are not interested in investing in this country. Things are going down fast. No more jobs anymore because we produce more graduates than we have jobs. We also have infrastructure in only a few states. Our engineers are teaching physics in secondary school meanwhile chinese and german engineers build our roads. The goverment makes these deals with them, give them oil and in return get pocket change. The education system is failing. The government has refused to fund Scientific research. If I had cancer today in Nigeria, i know i would not survive because i dont have money to get treatment abroad. I keep telling people we have to do something about this. They tell me that they keep "praying". Other countries with no natural resources are doing far better than we are. Im so fed up of this. And then everyone blames the people that left the country. What do they have to come back to? Nothing! All anyone wants is a good job and future for their kids. Nigeria cant offer that. Time is running out, we are going to get poorer especially with the gradual drop in oil prices. We as a people have power over the corrupt government. It is time we do something about this or it will be too late.
Science/TechnologyWhat Steps Are We Taking To Improve Biomedical Science Research In Nigeria by Mimi525(op): 5:40pm On Dec 16, 2016
I noticed we do not have an active research industry in Nigeria. I wanted to participate in cancer research and other reproductive disorders research after my bachelors, but there was no funding for that. If we want our people to come home, where will all those that have pHD's in Life sciences work? The government cannot always run abroad. Most time when cancer is in stage 4, there is nothing that can be done. What is Nigeria doing about this?
