I have observed the scenario played out in Nigeria and have since stopped been amazed by the characters displayed by an average Nigeria. The economy is bad and crumbling (I stand to be corrected) and each day when I log on to different online platform and read the contributions of people, and also listen to what people say on physical contacts with them I have finally concluded that the present state of Nigeria is not only the fault of the leaders but a greater blame goes to the followers. The mentality of Nigerians as a whole has brought this country to its knees, just look at the gullibility of Nigerians, the religious fanaticism and tribalism and you will be sure the country cannot move forward with this crop of human beings that reside in this country. I do not want to compare Nigerians with other countries but I will say we are yet to come to terms with what we want as a country, I know many brilliant articles are written each day and many good observation are made by some right thinking Nigerians but the situation is still the same and even getting worse because a lot of Nigerians cannot just comprehend what is means to do the right things. From the family unites, to the communities, state and the federal level, Nigerian are not ready to do the right thing, no morals from home that teaches the child to do the right thing and that child is unleashed into the society to contribute to the already existing problem. I will like to suggest a few ways out for us. • Every single Nigerian should take responsibility of their lives and always strive to do the right thing and love their next door neighbors first before proclaiming to love Nigeria • We should be patriotic enough to shun religious or ethnicity mentality and see the next man as a fellow Nigerian. • We should be ready to rebuke our own blood when they do the wrong things rather than shield our own while we castigate the other person • We should shun greed from our curriculum of life style because this breeds the corruption we are fighting today. • We should be patient and believe in hard work. • The last but not the least we should stop being fearful rather be ready to fight for our rights and see to it that the right things are done in this country by the so called leaders who are also the product of our failed family units. contributions are highly welcomed. |
