Olusegun Olatunji writes (08039247671)..... THE DEATH WE 'SAW' EVERY DAY!!! Has Nigeria becomes archives of funeral parlor? , From the North to the South, East to the West, The whirlwind is fast approaching, Could this be the sign of Armageddon? Not a day passes by without lifeless souls, As a result of hatred for human kinds, Fears grip my heart to watch Aljazeera, CNN, Channels, All we see on pages of papers, Are catalog of dead bodies, Leaving sanctuary to mortuary, At the expense of their cavalry, Can this be the beginning of the end? No! It must be the end of the beginning. Like Ebola the herdsmen, Are gaining momentum, Even Hesbollah cannot withstand the Militants, The Boko-boys is a fever, Dreaded than Lassa fever. Yesterday it was "BringBackOurGirls" , Today it is "BuhariFulaniAlliance", Only God knows what will trend tomorrow, And yet no sea-change in view, Is this the CHANGE we paid for? Shey na like this we go dey? Rili relayed to WB Yeast, That falcon yet to hear the falconer, That the center stills no longer hold, That real anarchy has gotten loose, On the surface of our territory, And we watched as things fell apart, Yet the Second Coming is not in view, But the death tsunami is piling, Like a tornado in our County, Alas! We're getting inured, To the death we 'saw' every day

NB: I never thought the politicking of Audu dynasty would be so soon as at the time (Sunday 22nd Nov. 2015) this piece was written. Kogi, the Confluence State was calved out of the present day Kwara and Benue States on 27th August, 1991 along with other States by the 'Evil Genius regime' with Danladi Mohammed as the military administrator from 28th August to January 1992. Abubakar Audu was elected under the National Republican Convention (NRC) as the first executive governor of the State in January 1992 to November 1993 until the controversial Third Republic was laid to rest, what followed in the nation at large was military jamboree and prostitution of power until the proper investiture of democracy in 1999. Like in other States of the federation where there was somewhat unwritten pacts to allow the governors whose tenure was truncated by the ‘military boys’ in the last dispensation to continue their unfinished projects in 1999, Kogi State was not an exception and Abubakar Audu was again swear in for the second time as the newly elected governor true the All Peoples Party (APP) between the period of 29th May, 1999 to 29th May, 2003. Like president Buhari, Audu also re-contested the governorship election in the State for four consecutive times and lost but when his preparedness could have jammed with opportunity his luck was queried and instead of him to have governed the Kogites he chose to go the way of Moshood Abiola and hence create a political higgledy-piggledy in the State. While his constitutional duty has been misconstrued for achievement in the State, it is however interesting to note that he was also accused of misappropriation of public fund while in office to the tune of Eleven Billion Naira, perhaps the reason it was difficult for him to regain the stead since 2003. Meanwhile, the State chairman of the Party in one of their campaigns publicly mocked Kogi people by proposing that the looted money would be return by Audu on his ‘third coming’ for the development of the State. While on heck would such have happened? Does that mean there is nobody in Lugard home town that could have done the job better than this criminal? It is one of two things, it is either the Kogites are crazy or the devil is inside them. No it must have been the devil , ( apologies to Susan, Keju, Nimat, and James) For if not such statement alone was enough to stripe the prince all privileges and let him be governor in one of the maximum prisons in the nation. But then this is not United Kingdom where leaders were forced to resign only because of misleading statement, this is not North Carolina where the Mayor of Charlotte resigned ‘merely’ because of public corruption and bribe charges. Had it been that the ‘unfortunate’ Otto Perez Molina and Roxana Baldetti (the Guatemala president and his vice, a female for that matter) were Nigerians they wont have resigned ‘just’ because of corruption scandals and end up in custodies when it matter most in the history of their country. Needless to say is the fact that Guatemalans played a significant role in breaking the jinx through their day-in day-out protest that later culminated to the resignation of the duo. I have never seen such homo sapien as that of my country, they are the epitome of, and almighty formula of what Fela described as Zombie being tossed Joro Jara Joro by the nations Super Powers. Our strength is not in protest to compel change like the wider world rather our faith is solemnly awaiting gods/Allah/God to come to our mercy by invoking death but we easily forget that ki ile to pa osika nkan rere a ti baje (before the earth kills an evil-doer, too many good things would have been destroyed). Hear what Fela say about my people: ................. zombie no go go, unless you tell am to go (Zombie) Zombie no go stop, unless you tell am to stop (Zombie) Zombie no go turn, unless you tell am to turn (Zombie) Zombie no go think, unless you tell am to think (Zombie) Tell am to go straight A joro, jara, joro No break, no job, no sense A joro, jara, joro Go and kill! (joro, jara, joro) Go and die! (joro, jara, joro) Go and quench! (joro, jara, joro) Put am for reverse! (joro, jara, joro) In a sane society like Guatemala, names such as Audu and the like would never come near private sector let alone of public office, to the extent of becoming role models and god fathers in the country. But then how much did Audu carted away to the great beyond sef that one should become hypertensive compare to that carted away by Abacha, Maradona, Obasanjo, T.Y. Danjuma and co. Because nothing will happen that is why you see Abacha dynasty still romancing the power that be, because stealing is a determinant factor here, that's while Atiku Abubakar could ridiculed our naira and donate Ten Million Naira cash at HID Awolowos book lunch while gulping out just Two Hundred Thousands Naira for school fee is an herculean task for some of us. Now that ina ti dile leyin a sunsu je, which Audu never thought could be soon, the isu is done and ready to be eat, but asunsu je as embarked on a journey to a land of no return, the isu will definitely be eating, the Abacha dynasty, Adedibu dynasty, Alamieyeseigha dynasty, etc, are enjoying their isu, the Audu, is the youngest dynasty in the nation and the Eleven Billion Naira isu and others will surely be enjoy. The Abacha, Adedibu, Alamieyeseigha and Audu dynasties are coming back to rule us and when they come ‘the more than three million 'zombies' in Kogi will vote him in, the more than one hundred and seventy million 'zombies' in the county will vote them in, do you know why? Because this is Nigeria where impunity reigns. On this note, before Stockholm syndrome gain upper part of you, before you think its not ideal to speak of asun’su je like this, ask yourself, was the asunsu je being fair to us when he diverted the fund meant for more than three million Kogites to his dynasty? Asunsu je might find it difficult to rest in peace, but one thing is certain Eleven Billion Naira Kogi's money will continue to rest in peace in Audu Abubakars dynasty. Hence my tribute is not to Audu, but to the Eleven Billion Naira Kogites money that dies with him. My advice is that the Audu dynasty should relax, strategize and endeavor to let all hands be on desk now towards 2019 because they must be compensate (the way the old general forced the sick Yaradua on us to compensate the senior Yaradua) to finish the task the Kogi's savior could not finished. |

Should History Extinguish us.... Like seriously, it hurt and shocked me to the marrow anytime I hear that religion and/or ethnicity is barrier to achieve an ettle one know is capable of venturing into. This favouritism in the name of religion and ethnicity clash is killing us greatly in this nation. imagine not wooing (marrying) Fatimah, Jamila, AbdulRauf, Rasheed, Susan, Oluwabusolami, Oluwayemisi, Emeka, and Henry whom you so much love and ready to profess your love for all in the name of religion differences, not being employed where one would have contribute his/her quota all in the name of this religion dichotomy. Even at the epicenter, in spite of the fact that we are a secular entity, religion that ought not to matter in line with ethnicity play a shenanigan role in destroying us and it is now as if we are under a spell (no, we must have been spellbound). Does that mean we are not yet aware of the fact that being a Christian or Muslim is just by chance? Are you not yet awake from your slumbering that your progenitors and the majority of you who claimed to be Muslim might have been other way round if the Arabian traders had came in through the Atlantic Oceans and that reversal would have also be the case for my forebearers and the larger percentage of us who carry Christianity on our heads as if we are hawking gala sausage at Nyanya park in Abuja (seriously wish I can ask you how market?) if the Christian Missionaries had lunched in through the Sahara Routes. Is it not worthy to be said that those Berbers never had the intention of coming down to Nigeria (Africa) all in the name of religion but because of their trade activities. Is my people not yet aware that for more than three centuries our dear Missionaries never had the intention of using Christianity to curb trade in slave and other vices until the age of Industrial Revolution in Europe (assiduously brought to being by the same slaves efforts) hence the Nigerian (African) slaves were being relieved of their works and hence constituted social problems, it was at this moment that Christianity became an opium to stop the holy trade turned immoral and servitude trade. So, belonging to either of these religions is just by chance and should not be a prerequisite for dealing with people. The failure to spread the tentacles of our history is the beginning of our nemesis. The truth is, nobody want to study History as a course at degree level, ask majority of those that bagged either B.A. and/or B.S.C History they will yarn you their preferred course of study initially was law, Masscommunication, Political science and what aview. Whereas there had been a time in our history whereby citizens had been sent out of the country to bag degree in other field of specialization but switched to History (Odumegwu Ojukwu comes to mind here). Is this how we planned to cure this nation of its inanity? Is it not time will kill this ruse of national tragedy of our inability to dine and wine with History that is affecting us religiously? History (Nigerian history) I believe is a subject that ought to have a compulsory curriculum right from primary school stage to that of higher institution. Our History supposed to be a subject that would be a prerequisite in all ramifications like the English Language and the likes, rather it is a course that is being study out of pity. It must be noted that when we go against the path of history, it forgive easily but so adamant to forget. Before our lackadaisical attitude towards religion extinguished us, it is still better and never too late to give History it is deserved attention in our midst instead of letting religion putting knife to what bind us together. |
