The Federal Government has urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to revoke the bail it granted the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu and return him to prison.
FG said Kanu has not only breached the conditions attached to the bail granted him on April 25 on health ground, he has also conducted himself in manners that threaten public peace.

It cited Kanu’s alleged threat that elections would not hold in the East until the Fed Govt conduct referendum on whether or not Biafra should secede and instances where the IPOB leader addressed crowd exceeding 10 and threatened civil disobedience, as against the court’s directive that he must not be seen in a crowd of over 10 people.

The government, in a counter-motion, dated August 1, 2017 filed by Magaji Labaran of the Federal Ministry of Justice, urged the court to dismiss an application by Kanu, seeking a review of the bail conditions.
It noted that not only had Kanu met the bail conditions and was enjoying the bail, it was an affront to the court’s authority for the IPOB leader to approach the court for the review of the bail conditions, having allegedly breached the conditions.
“The offence for which he (Kanu) is standing trial is not ordinarily bailable; the court, not withstanding, granted bail to the 1st defendant/applicant (Kanu) on health grounds on 25th April 2017.

“Among other conditions for the bail of the 1st defendant is that he should not be seen in a crowd exceeding 10 people; that he should not grant any interviews, hold or attend any rallies; that he should file, in court, medical updates of his health status every month. The bail conditions were perfected by the 1stdefendant/applicant, which he is currently enjoying.
“Rather than observing all the conditions listed above, the 1st defendant, in fragrant disobedience to the court order, flouted all conditions given by the court.

“The 1st defendant equally incited his members to disrupt, disallow and boycott elections in South East states, starting with Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 18 if the Federal Government failed to hold referendum for the realisation of the state of Biafra.

“The 1st defendant has already declared the bail conditions given by the court unconstitutional before approaching this court with the application for variation. Rather than showing remorse for his actions, the 1st defendant approached this court with an application for a review of the same conditions for the bail which he grossly flouted.
“Considering the above, that the 1st applicant has violated the conditions on which the terms of his bail were premised, we urged this court to commit the defendant to prison by invoking the provision of Section 173(2)(B) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

“We categorically state that justice would have been denied the state by this court, if the state is not protected from the offences being perpetrated by the 1stdefendant/applicant, who is currently on bail,” the Fed Govt said.
Kanu and four other suspected IPOB members – Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi and Bright Chimezie – are being tried before the Federal High Court, Abuja on offences relating to conspiracy and treasonable felony.

Forty-three Boko Haram insurgents who recently surrendered to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole were on Saturday air-lifted to join other repentant insurgents in Gombe.

The former members will undergo a deradicalization and rehabilitation programme under the auspices of Operation Safe Corridor.

Speaking while handing them over to Operation Safe Corridor, Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru gave assurance that the repentant insurgents “will be given a new lease of life”.
He urged them to, “embrace and undertake the programme whole heartedly” to enable them benefit and positively reorient their views about the society.
General Attahiru called on all other insurgents to abandon their futile struggle and reject the hypocrisy of the Boko Haram leadership who live in affluence, while their foot soldiers die in hunger.
Over 70 Boko Haram insurgents, in July, surrendered to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East.

City announced the signing of the defender from Real for a reported fee of £26.5 million.

The crisis rocking the Ohanaeze Ndigbo is far from over as the ‎Youth Council has issued a 7-day resignation notice to the publicity secretary of the apex-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Mr. Uche Achi-okpaga.

This formed part of the decision taken by the OYC during their meeting on Sunday.

In a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Engr. Obinna Adibe, they slammed Achi-okpaga for dishing out junk and falsehood to the society.

While noting that he lacked the mental capacity and wherewi‎thal to speak for Ndigbo, they gave him a 7-day ultimatum to either resign or be disgraced out of office.

‎This followed a statement credited to Achi-okpaga where he claimed that the Ohanaeze Youth Council was suspended by Ime Obi, Ohanaeze highest decision making body.

However, in a resolution by the OYC, they noted that “this is indeed another attempt by some idle jobbers to satisfy the needs of their pay-masters.”

“Before now, they were using Chuks Ibegbu, but having noticed the futility in every effort Ibegbu had made to blackmail the Youth Council, they have now recruited a more uninformed character in the person of Uche Achi-okpaga. The poor lies issued out is clearly the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau.

“One would have expected that since Achi-okpaga is speaking for the first time since his coming on board, he should have at least exercised restraint.

“But he chose to dish out a badly cooked and poorly managed propaganda to discredit the OYC. This will not be allowed to stay.

“We challenge Achi-okpaga to provide evidence where Ime Obi suspended the Ohanaeze Youth Council as he blatantly claimed in that mischievous report.
“We are giving him 7 days to provide a video evidence where the Ime Obi took such a decision suspending the Youth Council. Failure to do so, we shall not only disgrace him out of office but drag him to court.

“We advise him to concentrate on the menial job he is doing in Ebonyi motor parks and seek ways of developing his intellectual rather than dissipate energy in a futile effort to discredit the OYC,” ‎Adibe stated.

He warned that “we shall henceforth not take it lightly with any person or group who makes further effort to smear the image of the Ohanaeze Youth Council. The entire Igbo youths shall surely visit their anger on them.

“May we, however, state that de‎spite their antics, our peace efforts with the Arewa Youths, which is aimed at safeguarding the lives of Ndigbo, will never be truncated.

“Not even these urchins or their paymaster, who was brought from nowhere into Ohanaeze can stop our efforts.”

Anambra State chapter of pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has dismissed the call for secession, saying Igbos cannot afford to exist alone.

Speaking in Awka, the state capital, President of Ohaneze in the state, Chief Damian Okeke explained that Igbos can’t leave Nigeria because they have investments all over the country.

Okeke said rather than call for secession, agitators should use their pro-Biafra stand as a platform to demand a better life for people of the South East.

He insisted that Igbo leaders will not support agitation that may lead to war.

Okeke noted that anybody who witnessed the Civil War like he did, would not want to experience another war.

According to Okeke, “Anyone who is marginalized will always feel bad, but that will not make those marginalized to commit suicide.

“That is why we cannot completely condemn the youths for what they are doing. If not for what they are doing, we will not be discussing with the people of Niger Delta today.

“Because of what they are doing, we have a better understanding with the people of the South West today. Today, the Hausa nation, the Yoruba nation, and the Igbo nation are finding a common solution to Nigeria’s problems

“For the first time since the end of the civil war, the governors of the states in the former Eastern Region are meeting to ensure a better Nigeria.

Tompolo must be arrested – Appeal court insists

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos State on Wednesday dismissed the appeal brought before it by Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over the Bench Warrant issued on him by Justice Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The EFCC had on 15th December, 2015 instituted a Criminal Charge against Tompolo and 9 others.
The anti-graft agency, through its counsel, Festus Keyamo could not serve Tompolo personally with the summons.

Keyamo on January 12, 2016, applied and obtained an order for substituted service of the summons by pasting same on Tompolo’s last known address at No. 1 Agbanu DDPA Extension Warri, Delta State.
However, Tompolo neglected and failed to appear in court in response to the summons.

Following his refusal to appear in court, Justice Buba issued a warrant for his arrest on January 14, 2016 pursuant to Section 131 of the Administration of Criminal justice Act 2015.
Tompolo thereafter responded by filing a Motion on Notice dated the 27th day of January, 2016 seeking the following reliefs: an order of court setting aside its order of 12th January, 2016 for issuance of Summons to compel the appearance of the defendant; an order setting aside Charge No: FHC/L/553C/15 and service of summons to compel the appearance of the defendant and, an order setting aside the Warrant for the arrest of the defendant issued on 14 January, 2016.

Justice Buba dismissed Tompolo’s motion after much argument from both parties.

In its ruling on Wednesday, the Court of Appeal said that the former Niger Delta warlord had been properly served with the summons and saw no reason to set aside the Bench Warrant still subsisting against him.

The Court unanimously held that Tompolo’s appeal was devoid of any merit and thereby dismissed it.

Sandra Aguebor is the CEO and Founder of the Lady Mechanic initiative and Sandex Car care. It is true that in Nigeria women are gradually getting into corporate positions that men usually dominate in the past. However it is uncommon to see women who are professional car mechanics.

In Universities today, women like Sandra have dared to study male-dominated and practical courses.
Sandra Aguebor discovered her calling in her teenage years. She attributes her engineering talent to a divine encounter she had at 13.

She said, “It all started through dreams, at the age of 13. I saw Jesus Christ teaching me how to fix cars in a series of dreams that lasted seven nights.”

Nigeria’s first lady mechanic faced a host of challenges and setbacks from her male counterparts, family and the society at large. Somhow she channeled the obstacles as a source of motivation and positive energy.

Certain that this was what she wanted to do, Sandra gave engineering her best. She started working at a local garage during her secondary school days.

“I would get to school at 8 am and leave at 2 am. My overall was already in my school bag. From school, I would dash to the garage and work till 6 or 7 pm.”

In time she started working with the Nigerian Railway Corporation. After 10 years, she became her own boss and established her own car garage which is still operational till date.

Sandra showed her philanthropic side by reaching out to women in need. She assembled them all and enrolled them in her teaching classes.

In 2004, Sandra founded the Lady Mechanic Initiative. The organization specifically grooms women in the business of fixing cars. Thus, helps them to be employed and financially independent.
Another interesting detail of the trainees is that the some of them equally found the initiative to be a sort of therapy. Some of these women used to be commercial sex workers, victims of s*x trafficking, school drop outs, etc.

Records show that since 2004, Sandra has empowered and trained over 1,000 women in fixing cars under the Lady Mechanic Initiative program across 5 Nigerian states.

“Our clients keep coming back – they prefer us because we are determined to be better than a lot of mechanics who take their job and their salary for granted,”

Sandra Aguebor has a vision that by the year 2025, she must have trained up to 100 000 ladies who would serve as pillars and pathfinders across several African communities.

Following Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps​’ arrest of a syndicate in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, ​the suspects have confessed ​how they erect​ed​ a radio mast to hack the Virtual Private Network of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board​, JAMB.​
​T​he syndicate, including a proprietor of one Bright Technologies, confessed to collecting N600,000 for the ​illegal job.
The hacker’s wife and other accomplices were also arrested by the NSCDC crack team from Abuja.​ ​Other suspects, identified only as Segun and Jide, are​ ​at large.
One of the suspects, identified only as Tosin, said the deal was to extend the JAMB network from an accredited Computer Based Test centre in Abeokuta to some cyber cafe operators for the purpose of illegal registration of candidates for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination​, UTME.​
​During the interrogation, the proprietor, who confessed to the crime, said he was paid over N600,000 for the job, adding that he created over 400 User Names and passwords.
He told the operatives, “We are using unlicensed spectrum to transmit to our customers using 2.4 gigabyte and 5.8 gigabyte radio. On March 28, they came from Kindle e-Learning Service that they wanted Internet services and after three days, they came again, (Tosin, Segun and Jide) that they wanted us to configure VPN for them.
“They told me they needed our services only during the JAMB registration and on April 1, we went to their office. They gave me the IP (Internet Protocol) address and I did pinging from my own Router. I have collected about N600,000 so far from Kindle e-Learning.”
The NSCDC said the gang specialised in high-tech hacking.
JAMB Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the intention of the group was to completely demobilise the Board process.
He said, “With what we saw, we are of the strong opinion that the DSS should also come in to consolidate on the investigation done by NSCDC.
“This is because if this group has the IP address of any bank; they could take the whole money in the banks.

World football governing body, FIFA, has revealed its plan to commence the use of Video Assistant Referee, VAR at the 2018 World Cup.
The new method was tried last December in Japan during the Fifa Club World Cup.
The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino made the revelation on Wednesday stating that the VAR will be used at next year’s World Cup in Russia for the first time.
Agency France Press reports that Infantino revealed this at a congress of the South American Football Confederation in Santiago, Chile.
He said, “We will use video refereeing at the 2018 World Cup because we’ve had nothing but positive feedback so far.”
Video assistance was introduced to support referees with “game-changing” decisions.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, will not play again this season, because of a knee injury.
The 34-year-old has been Lille’s first choice goalkeeper for a number of seasons and will now miss the last few games of the season.
“Vincent Enyeama will be out for the rest of the season. #CourageVincent,” Lille tweeted on Thursday.
This news comes, as Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, has been seeking ways to bring Enyeama back to the national team, following the injury sustained by his successor, Carl Ikeme.
Rohr must now look at other options, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.
Enyeama played 34 times for Lille this season in all competitions. The Ligue 1 outfit are 12th on the table with 40 points from 34 matches.

The Benue-born singer opened up to SoundCity on why he went back to the love of his life, Annie, and how the love they share reflects on him as a person.

Two days ago I made a report of three gun shots in State Housing Estate. Information reaching me was that a police team was chasing arm robbers.

The chase took them to Calabar South where Operation Scolombo and joint police and military patrol continued the chase and until yesterday and early today they caught up with their target.

One Stephen Etim Edet was shot on the leg and caught while in a robbery operation. The said young man has been shot several weeks ago and was receiving treatment administered to him by his mother. If you look carefully from the picture you will see stitches of previous wounds’.

To some people it was a deficult task for Manchester United FC to win Chealsea FC in the EPL because of the mess united has been into for a long time now despite their new manager, defrnders, classic midfiders and foewards.

Chelsea are the best team in the Premier League. There’s no question about it. Table wise and personnel. Sure, Diego Costa scored as many goals as Harry Kane, but it is their midfield and defense that makes them the most dangerous team in the Premier League.
