My starting 11 prediction Navas Carvahjah. Nacho. Ramos. Theo Vasquez. Modric. Kovacic. Asensio Bale. Ronaldo I think Marcelo and varane needs to rest |
jamescross:well, what we really need now is a striker, a clinical one. Even if we get hazard, in that midfield, who will he replace in the starting 11? |
jamescross:asensio isn't part of that deal. I think it's bale. Buh seriously I wouldn't welcome hazard to Madrid. |
Eyedea:the old man is full of jealousy. He didn't say pim when barka robbed psg last season. I don't blame him, his not making headline since he moved out. Maybe trying to bash Madrid will bring him to the limelight again. |
usbcable:that match could have ended in malaga's favor, or better still a draw. That red card(against malaga) was uncalled for |
The referee of the Chelsea-Barca game in 2009: I made several mistakes The legendary referee of the Chelsea-Barcelona game in 2009), Tom Henning Ovrebo, (Oslo, Norway, 1966) is now 51 years old and lives peacefully in the Norwegian capital. He is remembered for one of the most controversial refereeing performances in the history of the Champions League, and his name went down in the history of the tournament after that semi-final second leg. On May 6 of that year, Stamford Bridge hosted an incredible game (1-1), in which the English side wanted four clear penalties. First of all. What does Mr Ovrebo do now? "I don't referee anymore, although when my colleagues need some advice, especially from the mental point of view, I try to help them. But I don't participate on a daily basis." Why? Elite referees often get involved after their retirement. "I'm fine as it is. I've been working for many years at weekends, refereeing everywhere. And now I want to have more free time. That's it." Let's cut to the chase: May 6, 2009. Are you proud of your performance that night? "No, not at all. It was not my best day, really. But those mistakes can be committed by a referee ... and sometimes a player or a coach. Some days you're not at the level you should be. But no, I can't be proud of that performance." Did you watch the whole game sometime after that night? "I always saw the plays repeated a couple of times and learned from possible mistakes. But that game was many years ago and I don't have to improve anything, since I no longer referee. I only remember that day again when journalists like you remind me so much later. I don't mind talking about it because it's part of my career." Chelsea claimed at least four clear penalties. What do you think was your most serious mistake? "There were several errors and everyone will have their opinion of those plays. But, I insist, the players and the coaches also fail, and nothing happens. I am proud of having had a long career and having been in the European elite for a while, and among the best in my country at least. That's why you can't remember me or my career just for that game, although some people, like you, do so... unfortunately." It was a Champions League semifinal... "Yes, it is clear that it was the return of the semis and everyone was aware of that shock. Only from that point of view is it understandable that many remember me for that day at Stamford Bridge." Remember the two handballs of Pique and Eto'o? "Of course, and yes, they were handball situations. I judged them on the pitch and I think it is not interesting to know what I think of those actions once judged, although I understand that people think differently to the decisions I made at the time. That discussion will continue eternally." Ballack protested to you angrily. Why did you not send him off? "After the game it is easy to say: 'Why was this done and not the other?' For me the important thing was to learn from my mistakes. I made that decision not to send him off and that's it. And it's difficult to explain why some decisions are made on the pitch and not others. It may be due to pressure... or in that event it could be because Ballack protested from behind and I didn't see it. There can be many reasons in each decision." Did you feel pressure? Eto'o's handball was right at the end. "No, I was used to the pressure. You simply see the plays differently. That's it."

Kross out 19-man squad Goalkeepers: Navas, Casilla, Luca Defenders: Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Theo Midfielders: Modric, Casemiro, Asensio, Isco, Kovacic, Ceballos Forwards: Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Lucas Vazquez |
AbuMikey:you don't watch the premier league? Just tell us you don't watch football. |
Malaga vs Valencia = fixed match |
phaamsaam:it's kindda weird when a barca fan post things like this. We all saw busques drag that eibar player on the shirt in the penalty box but the ref didn't give them the spot kick. Hypocrisy is a disease. |
Looks like we are playing against a team that gave us badluck in the start of the season. We need a win away from home and then dismantle leganes in weekday. Halamadrid |

Real Madrid face four games in ten days Now that Paris Saint-Germain have been beaten in the first leg of their Champions League tie, Real Madrid can cast the return leg out of their minds for a busy period of LaLiga fixtures. A top-four finish is far from secured for Zinedine Zidane's side and they have four games in just ten days to look forward to as they try and guarantee domestic qualification for next year's European competition. First up is a trip to Real Betis, who caused the first crisis of the season when winning 1-0 at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in September, after which Los Blancos travel to Leganes. February 24 sees Alaves come to Madrid for a Saturday afternoon kick-off with another midweek game shortly after, away to Espanyol. It is true that three of these sides currently reside in the bottom half but Espanyol and Alaves are both fighting to stay out of a relegation battle, with Betis and Leganes both on good form and ready for what could be called the biggest game of what is left of their season. After this spell, Real can enjoy a week's break before welcoming neighbours Getafe to the Bernabeu just three days before they are due in Paris for the return of their Champions League clash. |
jamescross:manure wouldn't sell him below £100m. Hope zidane doesn't sign him |
Madrid not interested in Pogba Despite reports that Real Madrid are monitoring Paul Pogba, the Manchester United star is not a target for the Blancos, according to Sky Sports. The French midfielder has seen his form dip over recent weeks, leading to speculation that he could be eyeing a move away from Old Trafford in the summer. |
PianoWizard:you are as fake as your moniker. |
. |
hardeycute:you want to hear something funny? Pogba might be one his way to Madrid next season. |
Litesanti:your price is good. But that your wages too much sha |
adams345: which position? |
Just for fun. Tell us how much you would command and also the position you play/or the position you love the most. Mine is: Pos:RWF Fee:£65m |
jamescross:just a minor injury. He will be back soon. |
monerozi5590:casemiro f**ked up real good. Kovacic might get the nod in the second leg. Modric at his age will still command a high fee in this current market. Dude is not only a blessing but a joy to watch. |
Look at them arguing about psg and Madrid. Been over confident about beating Chelsea. Same way you guys were comfortable about psg dismantling Madrid. |
KinzyeWriter:isco showed he wasn't a team player. I hope we go with 4-4-2 again in the second leg. Bale in place of benzema, asensio in place of isco and Vazquez also starting. We need to out class psg in that midfield. |
Who were Real Madrid's six heroes of the victory over PSG? Real Madrid needed a result against Paris Saint-Germain to save their season and they got it, thanks to some of the usual suspects and thanks to some unlikely heroes too. From Cristiano Ronaldo to Nacho, these are the six main stars of the 3-1 victory. Cristiano Ronaldo: He was decisive When everything is at stake, Cristiano Ronaldo delivers. With his brace, he was the main star of the evening and he now has 11 goals in this season's Champions League, proving he is the man for the big occasions. Marcelo: Unstoppable It looked like Marcelo might have to stop, when he suffered an early injury, but he was able to continue and every time he advanced down the left flank he caused havoc in the PSG defence. He capped his performance off with a goal, one which puts Real Madrid firmly in the driving seat. Marco Asensio: The game changer The youngster was brought on with just over 10 minutes left and he helped to change the match with his speed, his ability to evade defenders and his link-up play. Zinedine Zidane: Magisterial He took some brave decisions, most notable leaving out Gareth Bale in place of Isco, but they paid off. When the team then started struggling in the second half, he made some astute substitutions and helped push Los Blancos towards glory. Keylor Navas: The saviour It should not be forgotten that Keylor Navas made a vitally important save when the scores were level at 1-1. Had Kylian Mbappe scored with that attempt then the outcome could have been so different, but the Costa Rican saved the day. Nacho: Effective He had to play at right-back against Neymar due to Dani Carvajal's suspension, but Nacho delivered, as he always does. It was a tough test, but he passed it.

RuffRuggedRaw:you sound scared. Psg will score at home but that doesn't mean we won't score. The main thing is to make sure we are good and above them in aggregate. |
Neymar1095:you are an abomination to human existence. Loser |
Immediately emery removed cavani. My man zizou turned to pep. Emery should be lucky his coaching a club like psg. Leganes, las palmas and Swansea won't have him as a coach. |

Dijon hit back at Rabiot jibe: 'This is how is how they thank us!' The French side used Twitter to hit back at the PSG midfielder following his comments after his side's loss to Real Madrid Dijon saw the funny side of Adrien Rabiot's comments after the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder lamented his team's loss to Real Madrid by highlighting their eight-goal rout of the French club. Ligue 1 giants PSG took to the Santiago Bernabeu with great hope but left the Spanish capital 3-1 losers in the opening leg of their last-16 tie against the Champions League holders on Wednesday. Rabiot, who opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Cristiano Ronaldo's double inspired a comeback, was particularly scathing of the collapse As part of his scathing remarks , the midfielder aimed a jibe at Dijon, who the Paris outfit smashed 8-0 back in January. "It's great to put eight goals past Dijon, but it is in these matches that you have to make it count," he told beIN SPORTS. PSG superstar Neymar scored four goals in the relentless demolition of the Ligue 1 outfit, who currently sit 34 points back of the top spot in league table. Despite that demolition, which included three goals tacked on after the hour mark, Dijon showed some good humour on Wednesday, taking their chance to snipe back at Rabiot via Twitter. The club wrote: "We did everything to give PSG confidence before Real Madrid... And this is how they thank us!" PSG, who are 12 points clear in the league, welcome Madrid to Parc des Princes on March 6 as they look to reach the quarter-finals. |
