We are taking about a different thing but you are introducing a different thrashy issue. Your comment is the most stupid, childish and dumpbest I have read in my life. You might as well ask a German coming to Nigeria to learn Igbo before flying to Enugu! I bet you are less than 25 years old! You no well at all! Sorry for the parents that gave birth to you. They gave birth to a pained inconsequential asshole. When you are flying locally or international ( that is if you will ever) and they speak a language you don't understand go and shut them up. Politics › Re: Blackout Looms As Workers Give Kaduna Electric 7-day Ultimatum by missionmex(m): 6:11pm On Feb 22, 2025 |
nairalanda1: So you mossed no 5.
Sell at a profit.
It costs about 160 naira to make one unit of power. Currently only band A consumers who make up 20 percent of customers pay above that. Everyone else pays at a discount with a subsidy covering the resultant loss.. subsidy is also inadequate.
We need 15 trillion naira annually to get to 24 hours power. Right now the sector has a profit of less than 1.5 trillion and is owed 2 trillion in subsides.
If you don't sell at a profit, you won't make enough to pay for improvements.
All you are arguing for makes no sense without selling at a profit Of course they have to sell at a profit. This will even make the consumer manage effectively their rate of power consumption. All this is playing out simply because only few Nigerians are metered. What do you say of a man who travels for 2 months comes back and meets 24 thousand naira bill to pay. So phcn are not the only suffering. The consumers too do suffer. |
Politics › Re: Blackout Looms As Workers Give Kaduna Electric 7-day Ultimatum by missionmex(m): 5:50pm On Feb 22, 2025 |
nairalanda1: It's all right to abuse me.
But if you were running a business where less than a quarter of your customers actually paid full price for the thing you sell and the rest don't pay, or pay half of what they are supposed to pay or 10 percent of what they are supposed to pay, and ask you to forgive them the rest because poverty, you won't have much of a business left.
I have no sympathy or antagonism towards the discos and the gencos. But I find it strange that most of you who went to school supposedly seem not to realize that for any commercial concern to run well it has to make a profit so that improvements can be paid for.
And our discos are not making a profit because government rules means that they cannnot raise prices to a point where they would earn enough profit to pay for investments and pay for improvements and attract more investments.
And most importantly pay their workers and not be in a position where they are forced to sack them because there isn't enough profit.
And the workers are people like you.
And also profits help the same companies create jobs. Jobs for Nigerians like you
I doubt you actually finished primary school.
Good afternoon If you don't make your business profitable then you are not fit for business. Here is how to make phcn profitable if they will agree to work with it. 1. Metre every household 2. Work with the legislature to make laws that will severely punish offenders. 3. Make scapegoat of offenders publicly. 4. Repeat number 3 for at least 2 years without stop. Then you have a profitable phcn Both phcn and her consumers are only trying to outsmart each other. One is giving estimated billing The other is paying what he believes he has consumed. Metre everyone and see the magic!!!!!!! At least I went to nursery School. Good evening. |
Politics › Re: Blackout Looms As Workers Give Kaduna Electric 7-day Ultimatum by missionmex(m): 11:49am On Feb 22, 2025 |
cezarman: What do you mean 40% do not pay for power? How did you come about such percentage?
Even those who use estimated billing, them still dey carry ladder up and down to check their monthly bills and disconnect any one who didn't pay for the month... Infact it's a serious issue because you'll see people running around gathering money to pay and avoid disconnection when it's that time of the month. I know because I don experience am. It's also not that easy to bypass prepaid meters these days because of heavy fine and regular routine checks... So if you see compound with 6 flats, it's very possible say only one bypass or even non at all.
So your 40% is totally wrong... Scrap that. Don't mind that emergency phcn lover. |
Politics › Re: Blackout Looms As Workers Give Kaduna Electric 7-day Ultimatum by missionmex(m): 11:44am On Feb 22, 2025 |
nairalanda1: The problem is obvious.
The power companies are forced to charge below market prices for most consumers, and at least 40% of consumers do not pay for power.
So they run at a loss and are forced to lay off workers
Hence the strike.
No similar strikes in the GSM sector.
Put everyone on band A, force everyone to pay for power they consume, cut off people who do not pay, and you will see improvements.
But anyone who suggests the above is an agbado.
Nairaland is a home of babies.
Back to ghost mode Wrong suggestions. My suggestions: Metre everyone Make good laws against defaulters Make scapegoat of few defaulters And you will get the best out of power supply. Qed |
