so much buzz has been on about the infinix S4, have you checked out the smart 3 plus? Okay let's do a quick review.. What kind of a smartphone can you get for 39,900 naira? Two years ago, the answer would have been a barebones package with entry-level hardware and laggy software. That has changed pretty quickly, with several well-rounded phones being launched at affordable prices. There are now several big and small brands vying to hit that ‘value-for-money' bullseye, and Infinix is one of them. Infinix has been trying to make its mark in the budget segment for quite some time, and the company's latest offering – the Infinix Smart 3 Plus – might turn out to be an attractive option for buyers. Priced at 39,900 naira this phone tries to punch above its weight by offering three rear cameras and an appealing design, plus some software tricks thrown into the mix. On paper, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus appears to be a great budget phone, but can it wow users with its performance and steal some thunder from Xiaomi and other popular brands? Let's find out in our Infinix Smart Plus 3 Plus review. Infinix Smart 3 Plus design At first glance, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus could be mistaken for a more premium phone. Infinix has gone for a glossy body, and the back panel sports a layer of clear plastic that tries to ape the reflectivity of glass. The edges are rounded to provide a comfortable in-hand feel, but we found this phone to be a tad too slippery. We were a little relieved to see that the company has not gone for the kind of cheap, spray-painted gradient finish that is all the rage these days, and has opted for a more understated look. There is, however, no protective material of any kind on the glossy rear panel. It also attracts fingerprint marks and dust particles rather easily. The Infinix Smart 3 Plus comes in Midnight Black, Mocha Brown, and Sapphire Cyan colour options, and we quite like the latter because it's quite unique. I would like to also point out a strong resemblance to the tecno camon i4 and were it not for the differently shaped fingerprint sensor and respective company logos, it would be hard to discern one from the other. It's probably worth pointing out at this stage that Tecno and Infinix have the same parent company, Transsion Holdings. The power button has a dotted texture and is comfortably located on the right — just below the volume rocker — with both of them providing good tactile feedback. The left has the SIM slot that can house two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD card of up to 256GB simultaneously. The top is blank, while the bottom is populated by the speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and Micro-USB port. The small earpiece is squeezed between the frame and the waterdrop notch. Despite going for a notch, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus has relatively thick bezels. Infinix bundles a unique protective case, which is translucent white with a pattern depicting outlines of various objects. The retail box contains the phone itself, the protective case, a 5V/1.2A charger, Micro-USB cable, SIM eject tool, and some paperwork. Infinix Smart 3 Plus specifications and features The Infinix Smart 3 Plus packs a 6.21-inch HD+ (720x1520 pixels) In-Cell display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 500 nits of peak brightness. The pixel density stands at 269ppi, while the screen-to-body ratio is claimed to be 88 percent. There's a Read Mode and an Eye Care Mode in the software. This phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 processor clocked at 2GHz. There's only a single configuration with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which can be expanded by up to 256GB. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth 5, a 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, and a Micro-USB port, while onboard sensors include an accelerometer, proximity sensor, light sensor, and compass. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as face recognition for security. As for software, the Infinix Smart 3 Plus runs the custom XOS 5.0 skin based on Android 9 Pie, and our review unit had the April security patch. There is no app drawer button, but a swipe upwards will open the app drawer. The phone comes with a lot of preinstalled apps, aside from the usual suite of Google apps, there are also some in-house apps called XTheme, XShare, and XClub(one of a kind) This version of XOS has some nifty features such as Bike mode, WhatsApp mode, and a Smart Panel, among others. The WhatsApp mode, when enabled, restricts the data access of all apps running in the background except whatsapp, and could be helpful when users are running low on data but still want to receive messages. The Smart Panel, which can be accessed by swiping on the horizontal bar at the right edge of the screen, is a collection of apps and tools that you might use frequently. It is customisable and can be populated with apps of your choice. Then there is a Smart Arrange feature that categorises and rearranges app icons into folders. The XTheme app offers wallpaper and fonts for UI customisation. The intelligent Broadcast feature can be activated to listen to notifications, weather updates, live news headlines, and online content pulled from the preinstalled PHX browser. This app sends a tonne of notifications and we had to disable its notification permission to stop seeing them. You can also choose to activate the audio broadcast feature by double tapping on the lock screen. For navigation, users can choose between the classic three-button Android layout and a ‘Mix navigation' option, which just shows an elongated pill that acts as a Home button and can open the app switcher, with a Back button to the side. There is a third gesture-based option too, which hides the navigation buttons and instead makes you swipe upwards on the same positions. Copied |

There are few things as annoying to me as intrusive ads on a smartphone – ads on my lockscreen annoy me, ads popping up at random while using a phone tick me off, and my first instinct is to get rid of them. In my opinion, ads are justified for free products, but when I have paid for a product, I do not want to see ads imposed on it. The problem with modern smartphones is that while you may have paid for the device, chances are that you have installed quite a number of free apps, and it is usually these apps that are the culprits behind ads on your lockscreen. It wasn’t too long ago that I began to notice ads on my lockscreen. What?! Where are these from? How do I block them?! Experience told me that such ads are the work of an app, and that the thing to do was find the offender and find a way to disable the ads or uninstall it outrightly. So, if you are in similar shoes and asking, “How do I get rid of ads on my lock screen?”, I have an easy-to-follow guide for you. How do I get rid of ads on my lock screen? Step 1: The first step is identifying which app is causing the problem. Chances are that the last app you installed before the ads started showing up is the culprit. It is a simple deduction. If your smartphone had no ads showing on the lock screen before, and you installed an app, after which ads began to show up, you get the point. This is 99.9% fool-proof. The other 0.1% is that it may be caused by an app that has been on your phone all this while, but got updated recently and the updated version now includes ads on your lockscreen. Those are the two scenarios to consider: pencil down the last app you installed before the ads arrived. Where you have not installed a new app, pencil down the last set of apps you updated just before the advent of the ads. Step 2: If the app is vital to you, consider paying the developer to have the lock screen ads removed. Almost every free app has an ad-free paid version. If the app is really important to you, it isn’t a bad idea to reward the developer with some cash. Usually what they ask for is a small fee of around $5. Of course, some cost more, depending on the value they provide. If the app is not so important to you and so leaves you unwilling to pay for it, what to do is delete/uninstall it to get rid of the lock screen ads. Pronto. What kind of apps are the usual suspects? There are certain kinds of apps that tend to be the usual suspects in this matter, and I would take a look at them first when needing to get rid of ads on my lock screen. Here is a short list: battery optmisation apps RAM and memory management apps flashlight apps. If you have installed or updated one of these categories of apps just before ads started displaying on your lock screen, I bet you that is the culprit. Chances are that if you get rid of them, the ads will go away. Some 3rd party web browsers are fast joining this category, sadly. People have reported seeing Dolphin Browser do this. So, keep an eye on any broswer that you install on your smartphone.. How to pay for an ad-free version of a free app Where an app is of great value to me, paying to get the ad-free version of the app is one way I get rid of ads on my lock screen. And it is an easy process to carry out. Launch the free version of the app, go into its settings and you will likely find a menu dedicated to making a payment. Follow through, and voila, you get the ad-free version. No more ads. Alternatively, some apps offer their ad-free alternatives in the Play Store, so launch Play Store, search for the name of the app, select it and proceed to pay. The free edition of Photo Editor by MacGyver does not impose ads on the lock screen, but it is a valuable tool for me, so I paid for the ad-free version. I stand with app developers. They put in a lot of work into creating these tools we all use. If you are able to, do make a payment to support them. How to delete an app Dive into your phone’s Settings menu and look for a menu item that says Appsor App Management. Scroll through the list of apps till you see the one you want to delete, Tap on it to open up the app info page. You will see options to “Force Stop” and “Uninstall”. Tap on the “Uninstall” button and it disappears deep down into the abyss, never to pester you again (unless you re-install it). Summary In summary, what I do to get rid of ads on my lock screen is either delete/uninstall the app, or make a payment for an ad-free version. It is the same approach for getting rid of most other types of intrusive ads on my smartphone. I’d rather pay or uninstall than be hunting around for hacks to block the ads. Source: MobilityArena |

The web is full of distractions that makes it hard to concentrate....Here are six actions you can take now. (1) SCHEDULE UNINTERRUPTED WORK BLOCKS Chart your workday in two-hour periods and quarantine tasks that don’t necessarily boost productivity—including meetings and phone calls—to some scheduled breaks between the blocks. “If you take a two-hour block and do literally no quick checks, your mind is operating at full capacity,” Newport says. It’s like having a cognitive superpower. (2)HANG OUT WITH YOURSELF By pulling out our phones at the first hint of boredom, most of us suffer from what Newport calls “solitude deficit,” which could be partly responsible for a 5 percent jump in anxiety-related disorders from 2017 to 2018. One way to work in alone time and harness it for creative gain is to practice productive meditation. Do something physical, like jogging, to focus your full attention on a single problem. (3) SEND FEWER,MORE THOUGHTFUL EMAILS The typical office worker sends or receives roughly 125 emails per day, according to analytics firm the Radicati Group. That’s potentially many hours wasted on low-quality communication. Newport’s solution: Ignore every email that doesn’t require a response, and for those that do, write one that minimizes the number of subsequent emails—instead of “Let me know when you want to meet up,” try “Let’s meet at Rocko’s Coffee at noon or 12:30.” (4)PHONE A FRIEND Digital interaction isn’t a substitute for real-time conversation. “Our brains don’t really understand a ‘like’ or a ‘happy birthday’ on Facebook,” Newport says, adding that such gestures don’t add a sense of connection or belonging. If your schedule doesn’t allow you to meet friends face-to-face, give them a call. You’ll feel better. (5)CLEAN OUT YOUR TOOLBOX Newport recommends taking a 30-day break from any digital tool that isn’t essential to your work, including social media and video games. You can also probably do without chat services and attention-guzzling websites such as Reddit. When the detox is complete, set clear productivity and relationship goals, then reintroduce only those services that help you achieve them. Set some boundaries, too—for instance, check Twitter only on your desktop computer. (6)GET CRAFTY As you scale back on your digital compulsions, make time for a hobby, whether it’s painting, playing an instrument, or even whittling. Use your hands productively, and you’ll create something you’re proud of. That’ll help you forget about whatever’s happening on your phone. Hope you gain something ![]() |

You are eventually left wondering if it’s a phone issue, a battery problem, or if it’s just a sign you need to get a new device. The truth is, there are certain things that can cause that and there are things that can be done to prevent your phone from steaming up. Here are some of the major reasons your phone gets really hot and what you can do about it; Out-Dated Operating System This is one of the major reasons why your Smartphone over heats so much, let’s assume you are running an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system in 2017; where we have phones running on a 7.1 Nougat operating systems and applications such as Snapchat, Whatsapp among others are issuing app updates all the time. With such extra features, you are likely to experience your device getting hot once in a while when you run the application. You should also know that some apps have been developed or updated to run on the latest operating system. Several Background Apps Another major problem with devices in this time and age is we tend to install any app that is said to be a trending, in the process, we find our devices filled with several unused apps. From my interaction with people, I have come to understand or notice that out of all the number of apps we install on our phones, we only use a handful of these installed apps leaving the rest accumulating space and background data on the phone. Ever wondered why your device memory gets filled up and gets hot unusually? Well, most people do a quick restart and it helps to a point, but the best advice would be to delete/uninstall any unwanted app to save both space and increase processing speed. Excessive Gaming! For people who are into gaming, games are known to relieve and take out tension; however, there are certain games that require a certain type of processing speed, RAM size among other requirements. If your phone is short in one of the required criteria for the game, it would lead to lags and change in your phone temperature as the phone would work overtime to enable the app run smoothly hence causing the device to heat up. Network (Data) Signal Range This mostly happens when we are trying to stream videos live or when we are on social media apps; what we do not know is that the network coverage could be low and the phone will have to automatically search for network. Such cases happen mostly in phones that switch from 2G to 3G and 4G, in the cause of this switching there is a very high chance your phone might get hot from the background activity. The best advice would be to set your phone’s network to a particular connection and if its signal isn’t strong enough then you can either switch to the next available connection or move to a place where you’ll get good network coverage. Sunlight Being in a place where it is hot or sunny isn’t an ideal place to keep your phone, especially if it’s directly facing the sun. This situation is regularly seen with people in a car, exposing your device to sunlight is a very bad idea as it does not only make the phone hot it tends to damage the screen, battery, and the phone generally. Ever since the launch of non-removable batteries, I have received a lot of complaints from fellas regarding one problem or the other. Nevertheless, In this post, we're going to review 5 important things you should know if you are using a Device With a non-removable battery or you're planning to buy one... 1. What To Do When Your Device Freezes (Starts Hanging) In a normal device when this happens you can simply remove your battery and put it back, everything will be OK after that. Unfortunately for those of you using phones with non-removable batteries, it's like a bad dream. There are 2 types of Freezing A. Hard Freeze - This is when your device, Freezes for over 10 minutes without responding. Solution: Simply soft reboot the phone by holding the power button for about 30 seconds. Your device should reboot and unfreeze. B. Soft Freeze - This is just a temporarily freeze Solution: Just drop the phone for some minutes it should unfreeze after some minutes. When it unfreezes quickly clear all the apps you've been running and reboot the phone. 2. How To Handle Overheating Since you can't remove the battery and allow the phone to cool. The best solution is to place your phone on a cold surface (please not inside a freezer or refrigerator). You may place it on a cold sachet of water. After some minutes your phone should be cool as ice.. 3. What To Do When Phone refuses to turn on This can be really scary but it can be handled. Hold the power button for about a minute or 2 if your phone is still working you it'll come on. If it doesn't well try charging it,if it still doesnt come up try visiting and expert shop 4. Your Phone Is Charging Slowly. In this case, i think you should check your cable or adapter. The source which your phone is connected to also matters so check the and don't forget to off your data for an effective, long lasting charge. 5. Never Let Your Phone Fall Into Water. Unlike Phones with removable batteries.. There's no guarantee your device will be OK after falling into water unless you're using the Galaxy S7.. Or any water proof Smartphone.. http://www.infinix.club/pk/forum/352/957467 |
