Trigger is finally getting his ears up. He will only keep them up for about 5 minutes and then it flop back down, but hey at least he's finally making progress haha

if he's still teething there's no need for worries, Germany shepherd puppies ears take time to erect depending on the bloodline and it also might be because of a early injuries. massaging the base of the ears to ease blood flow through the ears would help and also adding calcium supplements to his diet...whe. teething ends which is at about 6-7 months and it's not erect then you can be sure there's a problem and taping can now be done to correct it if for sure his parents have erect ears.

Here's an update. Trigger is now 3 months old. He's starting to take the German Shepard shape, but ears still not up yet

Its pure dude, you can't find any 100% though, no dog is. But i can assure its over 90 and you gt yourself a beauty. The first time i saw a pure black GSD i had to ask the guy its breed cuz i was astonished and couldn't blv my eyes. Wish i took a pic then. Is ya pup M or F? Lets know. If M, lets know when he wl be available for stud services and post here or if F, breed and lets know when d pups are available. Pure white or pure black GSD's are what i would love to have.

All dogs breeds av roughly the same block-shape head till abt 3months...
Even if you have the parents' pix, u still can't tell how the puppy would turn out cos even if the parents look impressive, they might av a recessive gene that will be dominant in ur puppy.
Just feed it well and very soon, you won't need anyone to identify the breed 4u

Yeah, at least by 8 weeks those ears should start pointing upwards and the nose should start taking shape if it's a GSD, since you've seen the dad what about the mother? Your dog is really cute tho, hopefully it's full blooded like his father

I have not seen the mother but I contacted the guy my girlfriend got this pup from and he said that the mom is full blooded too. They have the mom in a different city but I'm gonna try to get some pictures when I get off of work and I'll post them on here

OP, if you can post pictures of the parents it will help to tell the breed accurately but for now those ears need to start pointing upwards and his nose is still too flat to convince me enough about the GSD thing. Although it might be a black German Shepherd, if the color doesn't change by 8 weeks and the GSD features begin to show that means you have a rare and beautiful dog (GSD). If it eventually ends up being a GSD then you have an extremely trainable dog

I have seen the dad in person and he is a full blooded german shepard, but I asked for pictures of both of them. I appreciate your help. Do you think it still might be too early to be able to tell? He is only 7 weeks old. I read somewhere on the internet that a GSD doesn't start raising it's ears until about 8 weeks. Like I said I have never owned any other breed of dog other than pitbulls so this is different to me. Would a DNA test be worth trying? I'm gonna keep him either way since he was a gift I just want to know for sure.
