Hello house,

I am sorry for the quite unrelated post/question, I was unable to get a quick answer on the IELTS room.

I wish to take the IELTS exam in Lagos, I heard some centers do not give headsets for Listening but instead play the Listening test with a loudspeaker.

I will be happy if anyone who wrote with IDP/MOD (Not British Council) tells me what center they wrote and were given a headset. I am considering writing at the UNILAG center, So if anyone wrote there please advise otherwise let me know alternatives.

Thank you

Thanks a Lot OtunbaTee, God bless!

OtunbaTee:
Yes, But let him explain in his letter of support that he has never operated a bank account and reason behind this decision. It will end in praise.

Thank you for your response/advice @OtunbaTee. Yes the person said they don't operate a bank account (although he has one- hardly ever uses it and there cant be a solid balance in it). Based on your explanation I will have to convince him to start operating the account even if its for this purpose. tedious but mehn.... Thanks a lot once again.

But just to be clear on your advice, do you mean whatever money he wants to give me is best transferred from his account to mine and I must also submit his SOA? My worry is his SOA may not be solid atall considering the past inactivity.

OtunbaTee:
Did the person actually say he/she doesn't have a bank account? Because you definitely need a SOA to show POF. no 2 ways about it. Also depositing a lump sum into your account prior to your application will definitely raise a brow. You can only encourage your sponsor to open an account and also pay part of your fees from that account , when you solve number 1, then number 2 would be easy....it will end in praise.

Good day everyone, I have gone through this thread and found very useful and assuring info. Thanks and well done to everyone. I have a few questions though:

1. Sponsor does not operate a bank account-In the rare occasion that a sponsor (a businessman) has a lucrative business and is willing to pay/send me the required funds to cater for studying abroad and this sponsor does not operate a bank account, deals in cash travels abroad to buy goods pay in cash too etc. is it good enough to have such a sponsor send the required funds into my account and we execute a deed of gift and I sufficiently prove our family connection(same surname etc).

My worry is, it may be a redflag that I am not submitting the sponsor's SOA, although I can prove the existence of his business via incorp certificate, shops rents, travel and purchase history and receipts etc.

2. Dual Intent - I understand DUAL INTENT has been discussed here and it has been said clearly that if a person can successfully meet the requirement of both immigration routes the person will be fine, I need to ask about POF in this regard, can I use this lump sum gift (in no 1) to also meet the EE requirement while also mentioning it as my study POF? May sound silly but in the actual sense if either of the application is successful the funds will actually be applied towards living expenses whether as a PR or Student.

I look forward to your candid advice and comments.
