By Oluwasegun Owowa, Blue Economy Advocate & Founder, WethinkTech I wish to commend His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the recent submission of 12 commissioner-nominees to the Ondo State House of Assembly, as well as the renewed focus on strategic agencies such as OSOPADEC (Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission). These steps represent bold leadership and a commitment to inclusive governance at a time when the state requires healing, direction, and unity. These actions respond to the calls from citizens and stakeholders for stability and improved governance structures. The Governor's leadership at this critical time has set the tone for a more responsive and development-oriented administration. As someone deeply invested in Ondo State’s coastal future, I respectfully renew my advocacy for the appointment of a Special Adviser and Commissioner for the Blue Economy. With the right structure, this portfolio can unlock opportunities in fisheries, aquaculture, maritime transportation, clean energy, and coastal tourism—especially for communities in Ilaje and other oil-producing areas. My engagements and proposals through WethinkTech, a tech-based and sustainability-focused enterprise, have aimed to support this vision and contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress. I trust that His Excellency will continue to show visionary leadership by embracing innovations that position Ondo State as a leader in Nigeria’s subnational blue economy. Thank you for listening to the voices that care deeply about our collective future. Signed, Oluwasegun Owowa Blue Economy Advocate Founder, WethinkTech

I have always believed in leadership that delivers, and I remain supportive of any government committed to advancing the future of Ondo State. That is why I joined in celebrating the 100-day mark — not blindly, but in good faith. But let’s speak truthfully: over 100 days into this administration, and we still have only two commissioners appointed — while a dozen Special Advisers have been confirmed. No matter how we spin it, this isn’t good optics. ⚖️ No Constitutional Deadline — But... Yes, the 1999 Constitution does not mandate the Governor to appoint commissioners within 60 or 90 days. That rule applies to the President following the Fifth Constitutional Alteration. However, the absence of a legal timeline doesn't excuse governance inertia. In fact, it creates a vacuum filled with: Public frustration Sarcasm from critics Low morale among supporters And a perception of lack of preparedness 👥 Special Advisers vs Commissioners Special Advisers are strategic, no doubt. But they cannot replace the statutory responsibilities of commissioners who are meant to drive ministry-level execution, policy, and budget implementation. Running a state without a full cabinet for this long isn’t just a delay — it's a signal. And unfortunately, it's not a great one. ✍️ My Position Let this message be clear: this is not an attack — it’s an appeal. The earlier a full cabinet is constituted, the better for our democracy, our state’s development trajectory, and the faith of the people — especially those in underserved areas like Ilaje where we are advocating for blue economy integration and coastal transformation. The delay does not serve the administration. In fact, it’s opening the doors to criticism that could easily have been avoided. Let’s restore momentum. Let’s put governance back on track. Disclaimer: This is not an attack on any individual or office. It is a citizen’s constructive reflection on governance in Ondo State. Constructive criticism is a cornerstone of democracy. Note: This post reflects personal observations as a concerned citizen of Ondo State. – Owowa Oluwasegun Alex Blue Economy Advocate | Tech & Outdoor Marketing Entrepreneur Ilaje, Ondo State

Governor Aiyedatiwa is quietly building what others are only promising. Roads that unlock the Blue Economy. A debt profile reduced by 82.6%. This is governance, not politics. #OndoState #BlueEconomy #DevelopmentMatters #Aiyedatiwa #WeThinkTech #GoodGovernance The recent inspection of strategic projects in Ondo South, such as the 4.5 km NDDC Quarter Road, 1.7 km Araromi Beach Road, and the Oboto to Coastal Line Road, points to a clear direction: building access and opportunity along the state’s valuable coastal region. These roads are not just concrete and asphalt—they are blue economy enablers. At a national level, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is underway. States along this corridor, especially in southern Nigeria, must begin preparing to plug into its opportunities. Ondo State is not waiting. It’s acting. What’s more striking is the state’s financial discipline. Within just a year, Ondo reduced its domestic debt by an impressive 82.6%, from ₦74 billion to ₦12 billion—a feat that mirrors President Tinubu’s own decisive handling of international obligations. This isn’t just good governance; it’s transformational leadership. Yet, despite these strides, some opposition elements seem more focused on political distractions. Talks of a “third term” are premature and unnecessary. Governor Aiyedatiwa should stay focused on governance and let the people decide when politics comes. He is already miles ahead of the noise. As Ondo deepens its engagement with blue economy potentials—tourism, fisheries, marine logistics, and environmental sustainability—this is the time to scale partnerships and innovation. Initiatives like the Ondo Blue Economy Advocacy offer the government and private sector a ready roadmap to unlock fresh opportunities. Ondo is not waiting for the future—it is preparing for it. And under Governor Aiyedatiwa, that future is starting to look promising.Author’s Note:This article is part of the ongoing advocacy for the Blue Economy in Ondo State, led by Owowa Oluwasegun Alex , whose work focuses on sustainable coastal infrastructure, local economic empowerment, and marine resource development, coastal development, Innovation and tech, tourism, costal real estate

In today’s fast-paced world, businesses that rely on vehicles—whether for logistics, deliveries, or transportation—are constantly seeking ways to reduce costs and increase efficiency. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through GPS tracking technology. With real-time tracking, analytics, and automated reporting, businesses can save thousands of dollars annually. Here’s how: 1. Reduce Fuel Costs Fuel is one of the largest expenses for businesses with fleets. With GPS tracking, you can: Monitor routes: Identify the most efficient paths to reduce fuel consumption. Eliminate unauthorized trips: Ensure employees use vehicles strictly for business purposes. Optimize idle time: Excessive idling wastes fuel—GPS tracking helps identify and minimize this. 2. Prevent Theft & Improve Security Vehicle theft can be a devastating loss for businesses. GPS trackers provide: Real-time location tracking: Instantly locate and recover stolen vehicles. Geo-fencing alerts: Get notified when a vehicle moves out of an approved area. Emergency response: Immediate action can prevent major losses. 3. Improve Driver Behavior & Reduce Maintenance Costs Aggressive driving increases fuel costs and vehicle wear. GPS tracking enables: Speed monitoring: Identify drivers who exceed speed limits. Braking & acceleration reports: Reduce aggressive driving that leads to higher maintenance expenses. Scheduled maintenance alerts: Keep track of vehicle servicing to avoid costly breakdowns. 4. Enhance Customer Satisfaction Timely deliveries and accurate ETAs improve customer trust. GPS tracking ensures: Live tracking for customers: Improve transparency with real-time updates. Faster dispatching: Assign the nearest available vehicle to customers. Better service quality: Avoid delays and optimize delivery times. 5. Increase Employee Productivity GPS tracking prevents time theft and boosts efficiency by: Tracking work hours: Ensure employees are working during assigned hours. Automated reports: Save time on manual reporting and improve workflow. Route optimization: Reduce travel time and increase the number of daily tasks completed. Conclusion Investing in GPS tracking technology is not just about security—it’s a strategic decision to save money, improve efficiency, and grow your business. Whether you operate a logistics firm, a car rental service, or a delivery business, implementing GPS tracking can lead to significant cost reductions and operational improvements. 🚀 Ready to save money with GPS tracking? Why Ondo State Must Listen to Blue Economy Advocates Ondo State has one of Nigeria’s most valuable coastal assets, yet it has barely tapped into the blue economy—a sector that could transform the state’s economy through maritime trade, sustainable fisheries, eco-tourism, and port development. Countries around the world are unlocking billions of dollars from their ocean and coastal resources, but here in Ondo, we are still waiting for a clear strategy. As an independent advocate, I have made several attempts to engage the state government, submit proposals, and start conversations about this emerging sector. Unfortunately, there has been no response. But that will not stop the advocacy. The Blue Economy: Ondo State’s Untapped Goldmine Nigeria’s economic future is not just in oil or agriculture—it is in the sustainable use of our water resources. Ondo State has a strategic location along the Atlantic coast, yet its maritime potential remains largely ignored. Here’s what we are missing out on: 1. Sustainable Fisheries & Aquaculture The Ilaje and Awoye regions could become major hubs for export-quality seafood if properly developed. Investments in modern fish farming, cold storage facilities, and seafood processing could create thousands of jobs. 2. Maritime Transport & Smart Ports Ondo’s coastline could serve as a key logistics and shipping hub, reducing reliance on Lagos ports. With improved infrastructure, Ilaje and its surrounding areas could attract investors in maritime transport, ferry services, and cargo handling. 3. Eco-Tourism & Coastal Development Locations like Araromi Beach and the Ilaje coastline have untapped tourism potential. Developing these areas with sustainable resorts, boat tours, and cultural heritage projects could bring in significant revenue. Why Independent Advocates Must Be Heard Governments alone cannot drive the blue economy—they need industry experts, investors, and independent advocates to provide innovative solutions. Thought leaders can: ✅ Bridge the gap between government and private sector investors. ✅ Propose smart policies that ensure environmental sustainability. ✅ Help train communities on how to benefit from the blue economy. Despite repeated efforts to engage Ondo State’s leadership, no formal response has been received. But we will not stop advocating for a clear blue economy roadmap, partnerships with global investors, and sustainable coastal development. What Needs to Happen Now 1. Create a Blue Economy Advisory Council – Involve private sector players, sustainability experts, and community representatives to shape policies. 2. Launch Pilot Projects – Develop small-scale projects like modern fish farms, eco-tourism sites, and marine telematics for vessel tracking. 3. Attract Private Investment – Ondo State must actively seek partnerships to build coastal infrastructure, smart ports, and sustainable transport systems. Your Thoughts? Should the government engage independent thought leaders to drive the blue economy? What policies do you think Ondo State should introduce to unlock its maritime potential? Let’s discuss.

Common Sales Objections and How to Handle them. Introduction Sales Objection is a common barrier when trying to pitch your products or services. In the last eight years of selling professionally in the Telecoms and ICT ecosystem, I have come to understand that sales objection is part of the thick skin a salesman or a saleswoman needs to learn to put on. In this series, I will be enumerating and describing in practical terms six sales objections and how to overcome them. Today we will take a look at the first two and in subsequent days, I will share others. This will be a good read for you. 1. This is not the right time Timing is usually a common objection reason prospects 1) I personally don’t have time to handle this, and 2) This is really not a good time to buy. As a Sales professional, you need to investigate the reasons for these comments. How to Handle It If the prospect thinks that now is not a good time to buy, consider these aspects before continuing: 1. Ensure you requalify prospect (don’t waste your time) 2. Ensure you do not oversell because of desperation 2. It’s Too Expensive A sales objection relating to price is never straightforward although there really may be a lack of cash. But in another case, the prospect may feel your service or product cannot deliver value to justify the cost. How to Handle It The sales professional will need to investigate the real reasons for the objection. Try to concentrate on thinking through for several seconds after a prospect has objected to price, as they will often volunteer more information unprompted. Once they’ve finished talking, ask a few more questions to really zero in on their objection. Find out what makes the prospect believe your product or service is too pricey or too expensive in comparison to an alternative. Often, their problem is more of a hazy sense than anything tangible. A few concrete facts may assist to set their mind at ease in this circumstance. Put the pricing in context if you believe the prospect merely needs a little confidence (how much it costs in relation to ROI, how much it would cost not to act, etc.). It is more important to demonstrate the product's value than to prove it is worth the price. When your product seems to be critical, the price becomes less important. In conclusion, sales are never a ride in the park you will always have to deal with sales objections, and of course, how you handle it will determine the sale’s closure. References OÜ, P. I. / P.
