paulGrundy:At your own risk bro. Jehovah's Witnesses don't solicit for favor. They don't chase the crowd. Believe or doubt at your own peril. The only thing you know about Kumuyi is what you read on the internet, but you doubt a person who's telling you based on a real life experience, and still talk like you know him better. You think he will tell you that part of his story? Humans don't tell their dirty story. |

Many people, including some teachers think Diction and Phonics mean the same thing. Nowadays you hear or see Phonics/Diction. They think a Phonics teacher is automatically a Diction teacher and vice-versa This is not true. Diction is quite different from Phonics and Phonics is not Phonetics either. A Diction teacher is not necessarily a Phonics teacher. Many Diction teachers cannot teach Phonics Neither can Phonics teachers teach Diction except the individual has been trained for the two subjects. What is Diction? "Diction is the style of speaking or writing dependent upon choice of words." It includes "the accent, inflection, intonation and speech sound quality of an individual usually judged in terms of prevailing standards of acceptability." Phonis is simply spelling and reading through sound. It is the easiest way to teach preschoolers spelling and reading. Phonics is only useful to nursery classes where they are still learning to read. It is one thing to teach Phonics, it is yet another thing to teach it right. Some Phonics teachers only teach the sounds of the 26 letters of the alphabet (a-z). This can only help a child read CVC words (consonant+vowel+consonant) and nothing more. How will the child read words that contain sounds which are not accounted for by teaching the sounds of the 26 letters? There are over 40 letter sounds in English. Effective Phonics lesson must cover all the 40+ letter sounds for the learner to read effectively and as early as possible. The aim of Phonics is to help children read as early as possible, hence, the need to learn Jolly Phonics. As a school owner, if you are paying your Phonics teacher to teach the 26 letters of the alphabet, please stop wasting your money, your regularly teachers can do that. As a phonics teacher if what you teach is the 26 letters of the alphabet, please upgrade yourself. However, Phonics is more effective if taught by the regular teachers. This is because it ought to be an everyday activity. Unfortunately, many of the regular teachers don't know it. Therefore. Do you want to learn Jolly Phonics as a teacher? Do you want to have your teachers trained to teach Jolly Phonics? Do you wish to hire and experienced and competent Jolly Phonics teacher? Do you want to learn Jolly Phonics as a parent so that you can help your children? Or do you want a Jolly Phonics home tutor for your kids? Then leave a comment or call 09094533828. |
Justice Yetunde Idowu of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, on Wednesday, ordered the proprietress of Cendom International Nursery and Primary School, Olodi-Apapa, Uche Owen, to pay N25m as damages to a five-year-old pupil of the school, Destiny Kalu after he was flogged for owing the school fee. Destiny, through his father, Inyima Kalu, had in 2013 sued Owen and his class teacher, Uduak Sam, for inflicting severe injuries on his right eye through flogging over the non-payment of his school fee. According to his statement of claim, on June 20, 2011, Owen came to his classroom and flogged all the pupils who had yet to pay their school fees. It was gathered that the right eye was operated on without success at LUTH and the doctor's report revealed that it was permanently damaged and could not perceive light as a result of severe damage. Delivering her judgment on Wednesday, Justice Idowu held the two defendants liable for the permanent injury sustained by the pupil and ordered the school owner to pay N25m to the victim as compensation. Moral Lesson. Teachers have no right to beat pupils for failure to pay school fees. 2. Pupils arent the one that send themselves to school. Their parents are responsible for payment of school fees and not the pupils. |
Flogging does not really correct mistakes, rather, it makes children more rebellious. There are more effective and safer way of correcting children. Flogging can sometimes lead to accident. 21st century teachers don't flog. Watch out for a story I'm about to post. |
whether or not to hire a home tutor is entirely a personal decision. Below are some factors you might want to consider in taking your decision. 1. Is your child struggling with his/her subjects? If so do you as a parent have what it takes to identity the area of difficulty and put the child on the right track? Take for example, if a patient's disease is detected early, it can be treated, and the person is able to live a normal life. Likewise if the learning difficulty is not identified early and the gap not bridged, the struggling will likely continue leading to frustration and loss of interest in learning. 2. Does your child have an upcoming exam?: If so the child will need help even if he/she is doing well in his/her subjects. Remember that exam of that nature is competitive in nature and to some extend decides the child's future, and only the best candidates are given admission. One who's preparing for exam will need to devote more time to studies than usual. It takes self discipline even for an an adult to form study habit much less a child. Children have not developed the discipline it takes to study on their own. They are not capable of understanding fully what bearing education has on their future since everything they need is provided by their parents. Send him/her to go and study and he/will convert the study room to a playground. Even the one that is willing to study often doesn know what to study. Therefore, the child needs someone to guide him, provide extra academic work and help him reverse past questions. 3. Are you a working parent?: If so you may have little or no time to assist your child. Even when you try, you might not be able to do more than just homework. Sometimes you even wake up the child at the odd hour to do homework because it's when you have time. I guess you know the effect of inadequate sleep on children. 4. Do you have difficulty finding the right methodology to teach your child?: Teaching is not about how intelligent you are. You may have mastery of the subject yet lack the right methodology to impart it to a learner. Also a method that works for one child may not work for another. I mean, you have two kids, Ayo and Kunle. The teacher uses a certain methodology which works for Ayo. Ayo is able to understand. That same methodology might not work for Kunle. A teacher is trained to cope with this diversity. That is on the one hand. Are you able to come down to the level of the child? For example, Sam is in year six, Jane is in year one. Sam needs much more advanced method to solve his fraction problems. And of course, several roads can lead to the same destination but one of these roads is usually more convenient than others. A teacher will find the most convenient method to help Ayo solve his fraction problems. Now, Jane will need a much more babyish method. The same teacher can descend to Jane's level and apply a method that suits her. Having a personal tutor also helps a child received individualized attention, bridge the learning gap and get ahead of the school schedule. Consider these factors and decide if your child needs a home tutor. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the challenges your child is facing at school or with his/her studies, or are in need of a home tutor, feel free to contact MODERN TEACHERS ACADEMY (MOTACH).
