Autos / Car Fault Code Intepretation by mogatti: 6:25pm On Feb 28, 2017
Cars have become very complex and unlike the older traditional cars which require some sort of mechanical knowledge and experience to repair, these new cars require mechanical, electrical as well as computer knowledge and experience to be able to repair. Those days mechanics mainly used workshop tools such as spanners, screwdrivers and the likes but with these modern cars, diagnostic scanners are needed in addition to the workshop tools. Cars now come with better monitoring mechanisms that monitor various systems and detect a malfunction which will be displayed on the instrument cluster (dashboard), that is why these days you can easily plug a scan tool into the OBD 2 port and magically retrieve fault codes. This fault codes usually give you a lead as to which system needs inspection, saving you time and money. In as much as cars have become complex the inbuilt monitoring mechanisms help in detecting faults quicker. Due to this, it is always advisable to scan your car first before repairs. I understand some people feel there is no need to scan because they do not understand the meaning of the codes. Please post those troublesome codes here for an explanation.

My second hand 406 consumes a lot of fuel. What do I do?

Step 1: scan it and retrieve any trouble code, a lot of things can cause high fuel consumption so it's best u scan first and the fault can easily be detected

[quote author=Aiykay post=52390214]Compliments good people, could someone help break down this error code in a layman's language P1150 error code. Car involved is a lexus Rx300. Thanks
A/F sensor is the most likely component causing this DTC, pls get it properly inspected. Also fuel pressure, injectors , induction system can also cause this
