In the Nigeria economy, it is widely known that corpers are known to enjoy price cuts in the cost of goods, services and even transportation. The acts of goodwill by fellow Nigerians are well received and helps make the scheme more bearable for the corp members.Even with these benefits most corpers barely get by in the month. However, the system described hinges on the government paying their monthly allowances(allawee) on time which they have done up till now. The Yoruba parlance that says,"the sweat of a labourer must not dry before he is paid." That is not the case this time for some 2016/2017 Batch A corp members who, until now have not received their December allawee. Majority of them are in a state of topsy-turvy. What 's worse is that some of their collegues have been paid. This action by the authorities has led to a series of unanswered questions. What criteria were used in selecting those to pay ? Are the paid few more efficient and effective than their colleagues ? These and many more lingers in the minds of the corp members that are yet to be paid. There's no gainsaying that the inability of the NYSC to pay corpers has taken a toll on them. Or what use are price cuts when you have no money ? You hear cases of corpers not being able to transport themselves to their PPA or their CDS locations. For some, even feeding has become an issue. Don't take our word for it; what do corpers have to say for themselves having heard all these, we implore the appropriate authority to see to it that something is done as quickly as humanly possible. If this sitauation is left unattended to ............... THERE 'LL BE NOTHING TO GAIN BUT MUCH TO BE LOST. |

Golden rays of the eastern sunlight Brushes through my half awakened face with soft caresses of warmness It is yet another dawn in Nembe city The kitchens are warming up again pans and spoons collide in oneness footfall ascend and descend the walkways In a bid to break the long night fast The crowing of the cock is long forgotten The blowing of the bugle and whistles as well But the school bell would never hesitate to ring Tick, tick says the clock, compatriots be on the watch And soon the assemblies Nexted by classes In nurture of the young the rising stars whips lashing and voices echoing instructions It is the duty we are called for The duty of a corper. ALLAH SWT has decreed in Holy Quran: “Every Soul will taste Death” [Al Imran 3:185] and accordingly the Creator has specified a time when HIS creation will cease to exist. Death is as certain for all as life. Even an atheist will concur that death is a universal truth. Post death, on the day of resurrection (Qiyamah), all of us will assemble and our Book of Deeds will be revealed. None will be spared from presenting the Account of Deeds. Wise is the one who reflects on this and is better prepared in advance for the ultimate examination. What could be the best thing a person can possess to present to ALLAH? Fear of ALLAH SWT is the best thing what a servant (of ALLAH) can take as a provision for the goodness of his Deen (way of life). ALLAH SWT states, “And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear (of ALLAH)” [Baqarah 2: 197]. No good deed is acceptable except that which is a result of Taqwa. ALLAH says: “But righteousness is (in) one who fears (ALLAH)”[Baqarah 2:189]. Let us understand the meaning of Taqwa. Taqwa essentially is to protect self from punishment of ALLAH by obeying HIS orders and by abstaining from what HE has prohibited. It was reported that Umar bin Khattab asked Ubay Ibn Ka’b about Taqwa. In reply Ka’b queried Umar (RA), O Leader of the believers, what do you do when you have to pass through a thorny road? Umar (RA) replied, “I lift my cloth up to my calves and watch my footsteps and take each step slowly from the fear of thorns lest they don’t prick me”. Ka’b said, “This is Taqwa”. ALLAH SWT says, “O you who have believed, fear ALLAH as HE should be feared and do not die except as Muslim (in submission to HIM) [Al Imran 3:102]. He who fears ALLAH SWT and acts according to HIS instructions will be secured from HIS punishment. ALLAH SWT says: “And fear ALLAH and know that ALLAH is severe in penalty”[Baqarah 2:196]. He who is safe from the torment of that day (Qiyamah) will notice that his days on earth were nothing compared to what he is rewarded. ALLAH says: “And the hereafter is better for one who fears (ALLAH)” [Nisa 4:77]. Some of the factors that lead to Taqwa are: Obedience to ALLAH’s diktat and abstinent from what HE SWT prohibits; Submission to the Will of ALLAH and to the decree HE SWT has set; Love of ALLAH SWT and HIS Messenger PBUH; Striving in the way of ALLAH and HIS Messenger. We observe that the affection towards this worldly and materialistic life has corrupted our heart to renounce Islam and its beautiful teachings. We have become slaves of this perishing life to such an extent that we consider the rich and those who have gained this world and its splendours or luxuries to be the most successful. Woe on us!! Whereas ALLAH says, “Indeed the most noble of you in the sight of ALLAH is he who has the most consciousness and fear (of ALLAH)”. [Al-Hujraat 49:13]. Abu Zar RA narrates that the Prophet SAW said to him, “Fear ALLAH wherever or however you are, and make a good deed subsequent to a bad deed; so that the good wipes away the bad, and treat people with the best of characters” [Tirmizi]. Our beloved Prophet SAW always advised his companions to fear ALLAH in all their matters. He once said, “Fear (ALLAH) in your worldly matters and fear HIM regarding your wives” [Ibn Majah]. In another hadith, Abu Ummah RA narrates that he heard the Prophet SAW saying in a speech during his Hajj, “Fear ALLAH, and pray your five prayers, fast your month, and pay the zakat of your money, and obey those who are in authority among you so that you will enter your Lord’s Paradise.” [Tirmizi]. The ill morale and character of the present society has deprived us the fear of ALLAH. Satan has showcased evil deeds in such an attractive package that the evils are being glorified and not considered harm. The condition of Muslim society can be improved only by retaining and refreshing Taqwa in our lives, i.e. by fearing ALLAH SWT and acting on HIS orders. May ALLAH guide us to HIS fear and reward us better than what we deserve and may HE love us in return of our fear for HIM. Aameen. ALLAH mentions, “whoever fulfils his commitment and fears (ALLAH) – then indeed, ALLAH loves those who fear (HIM)” [Al-Imran 3:76].

Although it is blinding on every corps member to render his /her selfless service in any past of the country where he is posted, Relocation can be granted if one fits into or meets the following requirements. The corps member must be either married or pregnant and she must present her marriage certificate. Relocation is granted if a corps member has a serious health condition which requires regular check –up. NOTE: The corps member must present a valid medical report issued by a state or Teaching Hospital from his/her state of origin that is endorsed by a medical Doctor. Furthermore it is more reassuring to know that NYSC is easily granted within four to six months of your reporting to your place of primary Assignment (PPA) owning to the fact that NYSC tend to pay more attention on the upcoming next batch ‘s PPAs and welfare than of those who are already serving. So with the above listed criteria there is nothing to worry about. If the initial application for relocation was not granted you can try a second time and by God’s grace it will work.

A few days before the 6th of October 2016, the batch B stream I corp members had washed their stoves and cooking utensils, cleaned their bags and packed them preparing for the long awaited day to arrive. The walls of the common room passage of the corpers lodge had been plastered with white sheets of paper where each displayed eulogies/ panegyrics free hand drawing, farewell poems and good wishesTo the dMen had written from the depth of their hearts, expressing their thoughts and feeling towards the Batch B corp members making known to them how greatly they would be missed. Eventually, the day came .At about 6:05am three eighteen seater bus arrived the Nembe city Ogbolomambiri corpers lodge hug gage rolled out to greet them as all thirsty corp members kitted in 6/7moved out with joy to join the buses. Only then did all really realize that it wasn’t a dream. They were actually leaving. Smiles went sour and eyes dripped with tears. The Batch A corp members all stood around the buses until they would all fill up lingering hugs followed quick exchange of motion; the Batch A corp members sadly chorused and waved goodbye and safe journey to the Batch Bs all reciprocated in one accord. Among the left behind Batch A corp members many wept and screamed in loud voices, both real and faked. All the same the difference was clear as the corpers lodge become cold and scanty. A few corpers eventually lamented over the lodge’s immediate quietness and indeed were sorry that the Batch Bs actually had to go. Frankly speaking, this event marked a necessary end for a new dawn in the lives of the Batch B corp members who stepped their foot on the soil of Nembe city some eleven months before as nothing but “Gentlemen corp members on National Assignment” most of them had served in the education sector, giving them the privilege to impact to the younger generation as well as gain the experience of the tutorship, independence and separation from family and friends. The NYSC Scheme has really achieved much in promoting inter-tribal integration among and real life exposure to the Nigerian youths after leaving the confines of the ivory walls systematically introducing them to “adulthood” and the responsibility that surrounds it in the larger society. Many thanks to NYSC. |
"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord,Who created you from a single person (Adam) and from him He created his wife, and from them both He created manymen and women; and fear Allâh throughWhom you demand your mutual (rights) and (do no cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is ever an AllWatcher over you" ( Qur'ân 4:1). "O ye who believe ! Keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth, He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger, he has indeed achieved a great success" (Qur'ân 33:70-71). Know that the most truthful speech is that of Allâh's Book (the Qur'ân), and that the best of guidance is that of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. The worst of evils are innovations (foreign to the true teachings of Islâm), and every innovated matter (in religion) is a Bid'ah, and every Bid'ah is a misguidance, and every mean of misguidance is in the Fire of Hell. This is an introductory book for every Muslim. It is a summary of basic Islâmic beliefs and acts of worship. We ask Allâh by His Names and Attributes to accept this work and make it a benefit for those who read it and/or distribute it. بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ All praise is for Allah; peace and prayers be upon Muhammad his family, his Companions and all those who follow in their footsteps until the Day of Judgement. Allah's command came to the Prophet to engage in Da’wah: "O you enveloped (in garments)! Arise and warn!” [Surah Al-Muddathir (74), Ayat 1-2.] The Prophet obeyed the command and began to call people to his Lord, secretly for three years until Allah (SWT) revealed the verse (which means) : "Therefore proclaim openly that which you are commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah." [Surah Al-Hijr (15), Ayah 94.] It was then that the Prophet Muhammad ascended Mount As-Safaa and collected upon the clans of Qur'aish: "I have come to you with a warning against a severe punishment." 53 For the following twenty-three years, Da’wah became the preoccupation of the Prophet and the pivot of his life until his death. The Messenger of Allah called the people of Makkah, freemen and slaves, young and old, to the worship of Allah. He extended the Da’wah to visitors who came to Makkah on pilgrimage or for trade. He went to Taa'if to deliver Da'wah to the tribe of Thaqeef. Following the pledge of allegiance at al-'Aqabah, he sent Musa'b bin `Umair to Madeenah in order to call its people to the worship of Allah. Later, he himself emigrated to Madeenah and set up his mosque where he preached to the newly formed community "as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings, a warner, and as one who invites to Allah by His leave.". He frequented the assemblies of the Ansaar tribe, preaching and teaching. He sent his preachers throughout the Arabian Peninsula: Mu'adh bin Jabal went to Yemen to call upon the 'People of the Book' there to Islam; 'Urwah bin Mas'ood went to Thaqeef to call his own people to the new religion; `Alaa' bin al-Hadhramee was sent to Bahrain. Even the Prophet himself stood by the gate of Ka'bah after the Conquest of f Makkah, calling the Makkans to Islam. On his return to Madeenah, tribal delegations flocked to him from all over Arabia (in a year that came to be known as the ‘Year of Delegations'), whereupon they responded to his call by embracing the new religion and returning to their homes to call upon their tribes and kin to follow in their footsteps. With the entire land of Arabia now entered into the Islamic faith, the Prophet now sent his emissaries with the message of Islam to the kings and emperors around the Arabian Peninsula: "In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, to Heraclius, the Emperor of the Romans. Peace be upon him who follows the true guidance. To proceed, I extend to you the invitation to accept Islam. Embrace Islam and you will be safe. Accept Islam and Allah will give you a double reward. And if you turn away, upon you will be the sins of your subjects: “Say: ‘O People of the Book, come to the word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us take others as lords besides Allah.' Then, if they turn away, say: ’Bear witness that we are Muslims.’ ” 53 Bukhari and Muslim. 54 Surah Al-Ahzaab (33), Ayat 45-46. And in the farewell pilgrimage (Hajjatul-Wadaa'), thousands upon thousands of Muslims stood listening to the call of the Prophet : "Verily, everything related to Jahiliyyah is now under my feet..." and "I have left you with something which, if you hold on to, You will never go astray: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger.” During his last illness which led to his demise, the Prophet entered the mosque with his head bandaged, and sat on his mimbar and said, "...By Allah, I have no fear that you might revert to polytheism after my death. What I fear for you is the life of this world and your rivalry therein." |

On that very day of Saturday October 1 2016, the project which was “the construction of a 20meter contract path to the common entrance of the corpers lodge was launched, as a part of community development by the batch B corp members for the benefit of the all the Batch B Stream II corp members staying in the lodge as well as for the future corp members who are to come in to Nembe city of Bayelsa state for the purpose of serving our great father land in response to the upholding the labour of our heroes past. The NYSC Nembe local Government Inspector, Mr.Dickson Amiesinye expressed his approval of the project as he took the pleasure to commission it. Furthermore, it was a great achievement for the Batch B to have made something precious like this which is currently in use by all corp members whom they left behind. “The process of achieving something is through the act of devotion and passion for that particular goal that one has in mind and indeed it becomes as act of heroism when successfully achieved”[b][/b]

الرَّحِيمِ ASSALAMU ALAIKUM YA IKWAN Welcome to mcanbayelsa..com.ng a resource for beneficial islamic materials for the muslim corpers. All praise is due to Allah. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no other prophet. At- Tauhid (The Oneness of Allah) Allah the Almighty said: "And I (Allah) created not the Jinns and men except they should worship Me (Alone)." (51:56) And He stated: "And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): 'Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).' " (16:36) And He said: “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: 'My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.' " (17:23, 24) And He said: "Worship Allah and join none with Him in worship." (4:36) And He said: "Say (O Muhammad May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him ): Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with Him; be good and dutiful to your parents; kill not your children because of poverty -We provide sustenance for you and for them; come not near to shameful sins (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, and kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause (according to Islamic law), This He has commanded you that you may understand. And come not near to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength; and give full measure and full weight with justice. We burden not any person, but that which he can bear. And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence, etc.), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfill the Covenant of Allah. This He commands you, that you may' remember. And verily, this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious)." (6: 151-153) Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever wishes to ascertain the very will of Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) on which the Prophet has put his seal, let him read the Statement of Allah: "Say (O Muhammad (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) ): Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with Him... With the good heart of the principal find it very easy to give it out to corpers for the purpose of promoting teaching standard to good students of Nembe City of Bayelsa state. Wao! how time flies. It seems just like yesterday, when in April 2016, the Batch A 2015 corp members of ogbolomambiri as part of their passing out activities, had a football match with the corp members from basambiri community. It was a much anticipated event as the football rivalry between them dates back to a distant past. The students and corp members from both communities thronged to the Nembe City stadium in Ogbolomambiri to cheer up their teams and boo their opponents. For the records, Basambiri and Ogbolomambiri are the two major cities in Nembe Local Government area of Bayelsa state. While this two communities are separated by only but a small foot bridge and they share almost everything in common, they also compete for almost everything. Right now, the Deputy Governor of the state, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, is a native of Ogbolomambiri community. *CLICK THIS LINK TO DROP YOUR PREDICTION FOR THE MATCH AND WIN GREAT PRIZE FOR YOURSELF* http://nembecorpers..com.ng/2016/09/ogbolomambiri-corpers-versus-basambiri.html Being hosted in Ogbolomambiri community, it was highly expected that the ogbolomambiri corp members will take advantage of the home crowd support to win the match. But that was not to be. It was a sad story for the hosts who were bashed by their visitors by.........wait...........hmmmmmm......guess what..... a whopping 7 goals to 1!!!!!!. Of course, the visitors were happy and went home with a victory song: they desserved it because they were the better team for the day. They played better. they had already preinformed their hosts that they will need baskets to take home the goals. they kept to that promise and their fans were not disappointed. they deserved it: they have come a long way amidst security concerns to cheer their players to victory!
