PPR ALERT!!!

Typing this with tears of joy and a heart full of gratitude! This journey has truly tested my patience and faith, but I’m here today to say “GOD DID”!

Here’s my full timeline

1st Application

Submitted: June 3, 2024

Refused: September 9, 2024

Reason: Insufficient funds
(I had already paid my first semester tuition and had over ₦50 million as POF, but the VO still wasn’t convinced)

2nd Application

Submitted: October 18, 2024

Refused: December 2, 2024

Reason: Same as the first….funds again!

3rd Application

This time, I went all in and paid my complete tuition.
Submitted: February 20, 2025

Refused: March 11, 2025

Reason: You guessed it… Insufficient funds again! 🥲
At this point I was honestly tired, but I refused to give up.

4th Application

I decided to try something different, I did GIC for living expenses after paying full tuition.

Submitted: May 10, 2025

Refused: June 20, 2025

Reason: Inconsistent purpose (Apparently, they felt my salary was too small and I might not return to Nigeria)

5th Application (The Breakthrough)

This time, I added land documents to prove my home ties. I didn’t overthink anything, I just submitted and left everything in God’s hands.

Submitted: July 26, 2025

To everyone still waiting, please don’t give up. Fix what you can, pray, and keep believing. When your time comes, even ten refusals can’t stop your approval.
And finally, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone on this forum, your posts, advice, timelines, and encouragement helped me more than words can say. This platform has been such a blessing, I truly appreciate every single one of you and I wish you all the best!
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Mojimade: 11:51am On Jul 08, 2025
Good morning everyone!

Please I just started this whole uk study visa journey and I want to make some clarifications

1. Do I need to have POF in my account for 28days before I apply for CAS or is it only for Visa application?

2. I have 3 refusals from Canada, do I need to declare that when I’m applying for CAS or is it only for Visa application?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Mojimade: 7:54pm On Jun 21, 2025
Alright. I’ll take note of that. Thank you🙏🏾
Believepls:
Hello, the previous post from funkyy598 is well appreciated especially “ and not get carried away with the 3 years pgwp becos time run fast in Canada ”. This is a guideline for everybody.

Regarding your next visitor’s visa application, considering your spouse is still a student, and he is expected to work 20 hours a week or so, it would be standard for the funds to be in your account except there is a lot of funds in his account. This would show your are capable for your expenses for that visit and would not further strain his remaining financial responsibilities towards his studies.

Try to show your source of income and let it be detailed. This would prove how you got the funds.

Also, be emotional in you LOE and let the officer know how much seeing your spouse for this short term means to you.

All these points are just my own opinion.

All the best!

This is very insightful and informative. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
However, If I eventually decide to apply for a Visitor visa, can I show my husband’s bank statement or does it have to be mine? The plan is to go for a temporary visit of about 4 months.
funkyy598:
Personally l believe it’s not advisable for both husband and wife to study in Canada at the same time especially with today’s high cost of education and uncertain immigration benefits.

While both of you may be eligible for a PGWP it make no sense becos the spouse can still get sowp while the spouse is on pgwp your main focus as a family should be on building a path to Permanent Residency (PR), not taking on double expenses and stress.

Since your study permit has already been refused three times, it’s better to stop reapplying. Repeated refusals can hurt your profile even more. Instead, allow your husband to complete his 2 years studies, get a 3-year PGWP, and secure a job (TEER 0 occupation; TEER 1 occupation; or Select TEER 2 and 3 occupations.) He can then sponsor you for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)—a far more stable and realistic route.

You can try a visitor visa, but approval is around 50/50—especially with past refusals. To improve your chances, submit:

Strong proof of ties to your home country

Letter of explanation showing your visit is temporary

Proof of funds: at least $4,000–$6,000 CAD

Husband’s documents (study permit, letter of invitation, proof of accommodation, marriage certificate)
For SOWP later, plan for $10,000–$12,000 CAD in proof of funds.

You can apply again anytime but prepare well in your new application for visitor visa.

Many students, especially in Ontario, are now stranded or with expiring PGWPs soon and no PR pathway. After all the stress and investment, many will be forced to return home. AS a Raise in student claiming asylum due to finance and no pr pathway a bill is already in Parliament that may bar anyone who has spent over a year in Canada from claiming asylum and surely the target are mostly student . This reflects growing pressure on the system so it’s more important than ever to plan wisely.so you and ur husband should start researching the pr pathway and not get carried away with the 3 years pgwp becos time run fast in Canada so please also Focus on a stable PR strategy through your husband’s path. Avoid rejections and short-term fixes. Stay strong and make informed moves. 💙

He is enrolled in a 2-year program in Ontario. He has started his second year already. He’s also eligible for PGWP
uchennay:
Firstly, is your husband enrolled in a 1-year or 2-year college program, and is it a PGWP-eligible (Post-Graduation Work Permit) program and which province?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Mojimade: 12:25pm On Jun 21, 2025
Hello everyone!
Please I need your guidance

My husband is a college student in Canada and he’s in his second year already. The initial plan was to go and join him once he gets to Canada and then I’ll apply for a SOWP but IRCC spoilt the plan with their new policies. Since I wouldn’t be able to work, I decided to apply for study permit as well because “I don’t want to be idle” when I get there. Unfortunately for me, IRCC has refused my study permit 3 times now. So, I’ve decided to take the dependant/visitor’s visa route, I don tire, we’ve not even spent up to 3 months together before IRCC came up with their policies. I’m so depressed 😔 I need to see my husband lol …. I need your help guys what do I do? Where do I start from?

What are the rules/policies regarding visas for dependants of college students asides being unable to work?

Will my previous study permit refusals affect my application?

Am I the one to submit the application myself or my spouse?

How much is required as POF?

What other documents do I need to submit?

How soon can I apply because I just got the last refusal letter yesterday?

EDOCA:
Verifiable statements from commercial banks are the strongest proof of funds, backed with account history showing stable funds. Everything else is looked at less favorably. E.g. employment letters and property transfer deeds, etc are notoriously faked.
I understand you! But in this case, I’ve already paid for the tuition in full, there’s a GIC of $20,635 for living expenses and an additional 25M in my personal account which has been there for close to 6 months. My question is not about the proof of funds, it’s more about the SOURCE, to show that the money is legit, my dad is my sponsor and he has given me everything needed which I listed above, plus an affidavit of sponsorship.
So my question is, to show that the money came from a legit source are his employment records enough? In this case, Appointment letter, Payslips, CAC, Personal Tax Clearance and Business tax clearance. Or is it a must add that I add his SOA ?

JMG12:
If all the funds you require is available in your account, then you don't need to submit his SOA.
Thank you! Yes! I’ll say that I do have all the funds in my account.
I’m going for a 1 year program which has been fully paid for, Living cost is covered by GIC of $20,635 and I have an additional 25m in my personal account which has been there for close to 6 months now.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Mojimade: 8:52am On Apr 13, 2025
Good day everyone,

Please I need clarity/ guidance on my next application. I’ve been refused solely on financial grounds.
So now, I’ve paid my complete tuition and I’ve started the process of GIC to cover living expenses. Also, I have about 25m to cover flight and miscellaneous which has been in my account for about 5-6months.
My dad is my sponsor btw. So my question now is, after proving the source of funds with land sale document (Deed of Transfer) his employment records (appointment letter and Payslips)and business records (CAC and Tax Clearance), do I need to submit his account statements again?
