Premiere Academy Students Demonstrate Social Responsibility Spirit Through Clean Up Lugbe Community Service

In demonstration of sustained spirit of community service and good corporate social responsibility, students and staff of Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja have staged another edition of the one-day Clean Up Lugbe Community Service project.
The Project has been a regular annual activity on the school’s roster designed to promote environmental cleanliness and community responsibility. It has continued to stand out as the most consistent private sector reinforcement of the Clean Environment Campaign of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) that aims to improve the levels of citywide cleanliness in Abuja and environs.
The School, in a media statement by its Principal, Mr. Chris Akinsowon, stated that beyond the immediate impact on the environment, the Lugbe clean-up exercise has continued to serve as an avenue for continually educating students, staff members, and the host community about the significance of environmental stewardship, promoting health and well-being, and inspiring them to become lifelong advocates for sustainable living.
“Through this initiative, we continue to demonstrate care for the community, the environment and the people. By engaging our students in hands-on activities of cleaning the environment, they are conditioned to appreciate the positive impact that their actions can have on the environment and the community. Over the years, the feedback we get is that this experience has always sparked a sense of ownership and responsibility in the students, thereby further empowering them to become lifetime advocates for sustainable living”, he submitted.
The School also pledged to continue organizing similar initiatives, collaborating with local organisations, integrating environmental education into its curriculum and equipping the students with the knowledge and skills needed to be lifelong champions of a clean, and healthier environment.
“Premiere Academy is committed to developing the total child. We believe that children should not only be academically prepared, but they should also be well-rounded individuals who are prepared for life. This is why we will continue to offer a variety of programmes, activities and other learning opportunities to help our students develop their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual skills as best as possible”, Mr. Akinsowon pledged.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Premiere Academy, Abuja has hosted the 2026 edition of its Annual Technology Leadership Fair, an inter-school technology and innovation summit that offers primary school pupils, especially budding information technology enthusiasts, in the Federal Capital Territory a platform to improve their knowledge level, and showcase their skills and outputs.

Designed to contribute to the full realization of Article Four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which centres on Quality Education, the Annual Premiere Academy Technology Leadership Fair seeks to concretize the importance of inculcating modern technology trends into present day education to enhance sustainable growth.

The theme of this year's edition was
“Artificial Intelligence: Is it Making Children Smarter or Lazier? Should Pupils Learn How AI Works Before Leaving Primary School?".
It featured, as a major highlight, an inter-school technology debate in which brilliant young debaters drawn from primary schools across the FCT engaged in thoughtful arguments, evidence-based reasoning, and forward-looking perspectives on how artificial intelligence is shaping learning and intellectual development.

The participating schools included Lakeland School, Destiny Christian Academy, Focus Academy, Joachcare Academy, Living Fountain International School and Val De Mauris Academy, among others.

The event also paraded other notable segments such as talks, exhibition and networking.

In his keynote remarks towards the close of the event, Principal of the School, Mr. Chris Akinsowon, stressed the profound impact which education can have on shaping the future by nurturing young minds and fostering their passion for innovation. 

According to him, Innovation in education is not only about adopting new tools but largely about shaping how young minds think about the future.

"Helping pupils to develop a strong foundation in technology from an early age is an important role of education as a means of empowering young minds to harness the power of technology for positive societal changes and sustainable development,

“From AI to data science, the possibilities for personal and societal rejuvenation are endless. It is therefore left to us, as parents and talent moulders, to inspire the next generation of innovators so as to unlock their full potential”, he enthused.

Mr. Akinsonwon praised each participating school for canvassing remarkable insights, reinforcing the idea that the next generation is more than ready to participate in conversations shaping the future of education and technology.

He described the contest as more than a Debate but a vision in action. He said Premiere Academy’s investments in
hosting the debate contest was not a one-off event but a reflection of the School's nobler and broader philosophy of preparing students for a world driven by innovation, inquiry, and intelligent technology.

"By creating platforms where students analyze emerging technologies rather than passively consume them, we are cultivating thinkers, problem-solvers, and future leaders who can engage confidently with global advancements.

"In today’s rapidly evolving world, exposure matters and we must intentionally introduce students to conversations about artificial intelligence, ethics, and technological literacy to make them count among those who are ready and empowered as tomorrow’s changemakers".
He pledged that Premiere Academy would continue to stand at the intersection of education and innovation, to regularly offer students experiences that move learning beyond textbooks into real-world relevance because, in his words, "the future belongs to students who understand it before they step into it".

In another development, Premiere Academy and the Nigerian Info 95.1 FM have partnered to mark the 2026 edition of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a Live programme featuring students of the Abuja School as guests.

The students, Sodiq Shukurat, Mutfwang Larissa and Sopirinye Jaja, were hosted as guests on a Nigeria Info 95.1 FM Live discussion programme to share thoughtful perspectives on the theme of this year's celebration, reflecting on how the integration of artificial intelligence, social science, STEM, and finance can shape a more inclusive future for young women.

The students also spoke about the school's commitment to empowering girls through quality education, innovation-driven learning, and opportunities that build confidence in scientific and technological fields.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is globally dedicated to promoting full and equal access to participation in science for women and girls. The 2026 edition which held on Wednesday February 11, with the theme, “Synergizing AI, Social Science, STEM and Finance: Building Inclusive Futures for Women and Girls,” highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing inequality and advancing sustainable development.

FCT-based Girl-child Rights activist, Joan Adiukwu, observed that the students' on-air contributions demonstrated clarity of thought, intellectual curiosity, and a strong sense of purpose which reflected and reinforced the importance of nurturing young female voices in conversations that shape the future of science and society.

"The students' outstanding performances served not only as a celebration of the global observance but also as a proof to the impact of intentional academic environments that encourage girls to explore, question, and lead in science-related disciplines", she submitted.

As countdown begins towards the November 14 - 16 Annual General meeting and elections of the Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo National Old Students Association, a front

line aspirant for the office of the Association's President, Ayobami Olubiyi (AO) has unveiled plan towards transforming the School's rich legacy to deliver lasting and impactful results for all stakeholders.

Olubiyi, a retired Executive at ExxonMobil and Faculty Member at Deloitte who is also a seasoned Risk Consultant, is a 73/78 OBHS alumnus.

According to him, the Transforming Legacy Into Impact (TLII) Agenda contains a bold and clear vision, insight and structure aimed at galvanising NOSA towards modernising OBHS’ infrastructure; galvanizing teachers to retool the learning environment and standards, as well as entrenching greater alumni engagement and networking.

He further noted that, through unwavering implementation of the agenda, NOSA, under

his stewardship, would lift Olivet Heights to higher levels of excellence.

In his words, "We will launch a digital hub for hybrid meetings and voting, we will build mentorship bridges from alumni to students; we will also activate strategic giving partnerships, such that every chapter, every alumnus, every voice will be engaged and empowered"

"When I served as pioneer Lead for YS 7378, I didn’t just speak—I acted. We renovated the Technical Drawing Building and drilled a borehole. Additionally, I coordinated the Olivet Super Family Fund, raising over ₦24.5 million in just three months. I am also honoured to have served on the OBHS 80th Anniversary CPC and Strategic Action Team, helping to shape our alma mater to a new sphere of excellence".


While promising impactful Leadership that can be measured and Service rooted in humility, ethics, and results, he called on all Olivetians to support his bid with their energy, creativity and belief in a shared vision so that NOSA can take its rightful place as a steward of Legacy.

In a related development, Coordinator of the TLII Campaign Team, Olusoji Oladeji, has noted that Ayobami Olubiyi's candidacy would bring untold benefits to NOSA.

He described him as a good advertisement of the noble ideals of Olivet Heights, in addition to being a tested manager with vast and rich mix of experience and achievements.

" Ayobami Olubiyi has over 30 years of experience in management consulting, government, and the energy sector. Consistently, he has demonstrated ability to

lead with a heart for service and a mind for strategy.

"Within NOSA, he has championed unity, ethical leadership, and institutional pride — ensuring that the values we inherited are the values we advance

"He is a recipient of the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Distinguished Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of State for his impactful work in Risk management.

"He was also the chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) Security Sub-Committee for over seven years and co-chairman OSAC in Nigeria until his retirement.

"More importantly, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Fiditi Strategic Development Initiative, he channels his roots into

redevelopment efforts that expand healthcare, education, and economic opportunity in his hometown.

"His journey, therefore, reflects a deep commitment to turning legacy into lasting impact through mobilizing communities, institutions, and alumni networks toward meaningful change. He selflessly exemplifies how legacy becomes a living force for catalyzation".

Abuja has called on schools and other learning institutions to focus on improved engagement of Nigerian youths on human rights awareness and positive technological innovations to unleash their potentials and capacity to influence the world.
Speaking during a Visitation to Premiere Academy, Abuja recently, Knowledge Management Assistant, United Nations Information Centre, Abuja, Mrs. Bo-lanle Olumekor, observed that the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030 rests greatly on how well the youths are empowered to unleash their potentials in the areas of innovation, industry and tech infrastructure.

She also praised the School’s Anti-Bullying Campaign and charged the students to always stand up against Bullying and other societal vices, in line with the values the school has ingrained in them.
In another development, the Raw Materials Development and Research Council (RMDRC) has described the school’s commitment to Science and Technology as an invaluable policy that offers its students a peerless foundation for their future.
Head of the Petrochemical and Materials Development Division of RMDRC, Engineer Mrs. Uchenna Maduegbunam, gave the commendation while delivering a paper at a seminar organised by the school in commemoration of the 2023 World Science Day for Peace and Development.
Celebrated globally on November 10th of every year, the World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights the important role and relevance of science in the society as well as the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues.

Group Chief Executive Officer of the Elkris Group and Founder of Pre Diagnostic International, Dr. Elliott Scott Omose, has been conferred with the International Peace Advocate award of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC). The Agency said the conferment is in recognition of his invaluable role in bridging the gaping inequalities in healthcare provision among the vulnerable populations in the African continent.
UN-POLAC was established in 2001 as an international autonomous institution affiliated with the UN and UNESCO following the UN General Assembly resolution to declare 2001 – 2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence. Its mandate is to enhance the effective delivery of the UN Millennium Development Goals and the UNESCO Culture of Peace Programme, particularly the maintenance of peace, security, international friendship and the restoration of human dignity.
According to the Letter of Award signed by the director-general, Prof. Halo Eton, the United Nations POLAC Foundation recognised the private efforts and impactful service of the recipient to the vulnerable African populations as a vital ingredient in promoting the global implementation of UNDP programmes and initiatives.
It further described the recipient as promoting noble causes that have been adjudged to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals’ global call to action to end poverty, protect the earth’s environment and climate and ensure that people everywhere can enjoy peace and prosperity.
In his acceptance remarks at the conferment event, Dr. Elliott Omose pledged to remain unwavering in his life-long mission to ensure that the African continent has a grassroots-focused basic healthcare structure that is customized to suit the peculiarities of the African terrain.
He observed that the sole aim for birthing the PDI platform is premised on total dedication to the urgent need to bridge the gaps created by the inadequacy of primary healthcare structure in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“Our life-long commitment to building a grassroots basic healthcare delivery model that is designed to bridge the unacceptable pathetic gap between the urban and the hard-to-reach areas, between the haves and the have-nots, in the continent of Africa led to the vision of conceiving Pre Diagnostic International over ten years ago.
“Today, PDI combines E-Clinic, Mobile Clinic and Walk-in Clinic offerings under a single platform for effective delivery of Universal Health Coverage plans whereby our patients, the vulnerable population across the African countries where we currently have footprints, pay less than ten percent of the actual cost of accessing quality healthcare”.
Dr. Omose also stated that through its hybrid Basic Public Health model, PDI currently provides free Doctors’ personal health management services (24/7) to at least 2 million vulnerable population across Africa yearly. He added that the initiative has been sustained through his Elkris Benevolent Foundation, without external donations or funding.
“We get the job of consultation, prescription and personal health management done, over the phone, video, chat, through our walk-in clinics, medical outreaches and pharmacies collaboration outlets, among other offerings. We are currently doing this in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and a few other African countries”, he concluded.
