Thanks for posting this, because we Nigerians, especially the youth, seem to portray very short memories indeed. We tend to forget as it pleases our minds and arguments. Nigeria has always delayed signing of budget for reasons best known to our leaders, and considering that in the past, there has never been as genuine a reason as there was this year. I plead with us to have patience with this government and let us see what can come out of them, at least give them 2 years to action their budgets; if after this nothing good is coming out, then we can commence shouting and ranting. But for now, all we ought to do is support or offer constructive criticism. My two cents. Thank you |
Kudos to PHED, they have commenced work to raise the transformer from the ground.
|
PHED pls act fast....the transformer serving Geodetic Road in Rumuomasi phc is submerged in water as I write this. And this happens anytime it rains, causing power outage and damage to power supply in the area. Pls treat as urgent to avoid casualities and possible fatalities.

hinwazaka:Thanks for the lessons in types government etc, I will not claim to know the different types of governments run at all times, but I stand confident to say when you see good governance being run, one that touches the lives of people positively, and I don't mean people who have ties to the govt in power, but the ordinary man; you can tell. Maybe I have moved from centre-right to extreme-leftist, I do not know....but I'm yet to see a democratic government in Nigeria that is run with tangible benefits for a country as blessed as Nigeria, so for the sake of me and generations of Nigerians to come; I hope this new government will make a positive difference from the past ones and go steps further in development, while tackling our biggest challenges. |
Good people, No man is an island, even great men of our times have benefitted from taking advice from little unknowns. What I have simply advised is that Chief Olisa reduces the unnecessary comments and maintains stay as a credible opposition. We do need people like him who are able to speak and journalists will broadcast their words; it will do him no good if he becomes known as a "wailing wailer" who loses that credible force. He is striving for a better Nigeria I believe and not just for his party the PDP to rule; hence he needs to give the electorate some room to also explore the person they have voted for, when and if Buhari starts messing up, then we would need people like him to really stand up and offer good admonishment as a credible opposition. In some societies, the oppositions aim is not to "win back the power" but simply to serve as a guiding voice to ensure the leading party does not stray. He can choose this road to follow. Besides, if he makes Nigerians turn their backs on Buhari after only 3months, then what has he achieved but to give us heart aches for the next 3yrs and 9months; as Buhari will have to complete his term without our support. |
@Igboson1 Thanks for your comments, however I will appreciate if you look at things with a better perspective. I am very certain that deep down in your conscience, you know that PDP failed us as Nigerians. The level of corruption et al that ran in this country was too deep. Hence we needed a complete change....not necessarily in party, but more in ideals. I don't care the party or the geographical region a person comes from, all I care about is one who can make things better for our country. As is, if Buhari fails in the 4yr tenure, we will by all means vote him out, and give another person the chance. Would prefer if we held back sentiments and addressed the issues as should be, instead of picking on parties or religions or tribes. Thank you |
Well, I'm just hoping someone whom he listens to will read this and give him a talking to, who knows maybe one of his kids or someone else who could really pass the message. I am not trying to insult him or ridicule him, I would just like to see Nigerians coming together to hope for a better Nigeria instead of always being our own enemies and fighting even what we can see seems to be of good intentions; simply because we are of a different party or tribe or geopolitical region. I supported the change from military to democracy, I supported the candidacy of Obasanjo, also supported that of Jonathan over Buhari the first time; but I didn't see Nigeria gaining with the level of impunity and corruption of our leaders, top to bottom, so I look forward to a change. I can change my party of support depending on the ideals of the candidate. As said before, all I want is a better Nigeria for me and my kids, and all Nigerians. |
Good evening Sir, I hope this message gets to you, and that it does so in time as I still believe there is room for redirection in your strides towards being a robust opposition voice. Firstly, I want to say that your name is fast becoming associated with so many jokes that I wonder whose side you are playing on, could it be that you are intentionally doing this to further bring down the PDP? Or do you genuinely believe in your heart that this is the way an opposition party should be run? In recent times, you have been called many names, with the most used being "wailing wailer". Are you aware of this? Or does your disconnection from reality know no bounds? I do believe, again, that you are better than what is being portrayed today. For goodness sakes, you did not achieve the level you are today by not being intelligent; unless I am complete wrong. Pls prove me wrong. The aim of my write up today is to advise you to take it easy on your rants. It seems everyday, you seek what Buhari has done or has not done and then you chose the exact opposite and castigate him with that. I don't want to give examples as I'm sure anyone who can read or have a discussion in Nigeria knows what I mean. May I remind you that it is loose and unguarded statements such as these you make today that causes the PDP the last presidential elections. Need I remind you that many would have voted for PDP or at least believed in your party had the likes of Doyin, Femi Kayode, and lastly Madam Patience just kept their mouths shut and not come up with baseless accusations against Buhari and the APC? Have you not learnt anything from your very recent defeat? In any sport or war, he who loses goes back to study the tactic of the person who won so that when next they meet, he can perform better. Isn't it time you studied the tactic Buhari has used to obliterate you, and modify your attacks to better match his? Through out all the years Buhari contested and lost elections against your party, no one heard him making any false or baseless accusations on a daily basis against the PDP, all he did was put his facts right on areas you have indeed failed, so when the next election comes, when it matters most, he would present it to the electorate and convince them that he is a better candidate. Don't you see that he is a man that speaks little, and speaks only when it matters. Despite all the jargons you have spewed about him in the past months, have you not noticed that he has not even given you the honor as to respond to you? I can go on and on about this, but because I believe you have got my point I will stop here. All I ask is, give Buhari the opportunity to try and when he starts failing, I mean really failing, then you can, with facts and figures come after him in a very calculated and constructive manner. Then your voice will be that of wisdom. Secondly, we will not call you a weakling if you decide to keep quiet and watch what Buhari is doing to see what he intends to achieve. I do believe 3months is too short a time for you to judge the man. PDP held sway for 16years, and in all those years look at where Nigeria is, we cannot even treat a simple concussion for a high level politician who claims to have built a world class hospital in the country. Instead for a simple injury, which is not life threatening, he is flown abroad. Does that not speak volumes of what our great country has been reduced to. Pls give Buhari and his team sufficient time to let us know where they intend to take us to, after about 2yrs of ruling, then you can speak up and give a report , so for the next 2yrs, he will try to address the issues you have raised, and where he fails, we, the electorate will vote him out as we did the PDP, and give someone else a chance. In the end, all that matters is our great country Nigeria and not the PDP or APC or any other party. If he fails, we all fail, so best we offer support and give him a chance to succeed. A word is enough.... Thank you. Yours sincerely, Craig Motoman |
Coach Keshi is to football what President Jonathan is to National Leader! Both just sit and hope all things will fall into place by luck. Over their tenures, they have had some lucky breaks but when you look at things thoroughly, you find they had no real influence in the successes. Full stop...Kpom kwem! |
@delafrota and @arcview: if you read Lawyer's post properly, you would see he has not completely condemed the buying of Lands said to be under processing, but rather he has said we should be weary and apply more caution when told that story. He has even gone an extra mile to give us a template of questions we should as, which in the end will strengthen or cancel our decision to purchase such land. I actually give much kudos to Lawyer cos he is indeed a rare gem, and invests his time in ensuring people learn about proper purchase of lands. Now to my problem: I purchased a land in Beechwood estate, Ibejou area about a year ago, and that land has been 'under gazette processing' for ever. After reading this post, I'm starting to feel like I was scammed. Reason is: I wasn't alocated a plot with a plan nore any sort of markings, cos my agent said I'll only get those once the gazette is released. So I can't even carry out a check on the land. I dey hang for 'one-chance bus' and the wahala be say I know say I dey scam, but can't do nothing...any advice? |

For a while now I have been contemplating how to pass this message to the management of Silverbird cinemas concerning the miserable state in which the cinema complex in phc is kept. I was there two days ago to see the new flick - Django Unchained, and as we watched this movie, I noticed the air conditioning was not working properly, resulting in major sweating. People were using flyers and hankies to fan themselves, and I asked myself.....did I pay for a sauna session or to see a movie? Now its important to let you know this is not just a one time AC malfunction as this has been on for more than a year now. I know this because it is the major reason why I stopped my frequent visits to this cinemas for a longtime. The big question is? Is the management claiming that they are unaware of this situation? Or are they saying it is totally beyond them? May I remind them that they are not doing us a favor, but are providing a service, which we pay handsomely for...the least we ask for is decent air-conditioning. A friend once said, "Silverbird management isn't interested in the phc cinema, as they only built that scrappy place to secure the land for future purposes" I didn't believe at the time, but with the lackadaisical attitude displayed in upkeep of phc facilities, compared to their other cinemas, I'm inclined to agree now. |
Ladies and gentlemen, Great people of Port Harcourt, pls advise if you have electricity in your area. I live in Rumuomasi axis, and can state that in the past 2 weeks, we have not had upto 4hours of electricity supply. Someone mentioned that he heard something about 2weeks maintainance on the radio; but I've not heard any myself. Can PHCN please help us, as we are going through untold hardship, as this blackout is coming at a time when fuel is very scarce, hence even gens are out-of-order. If someone can reach our governor, please let him speak 'light' to our house... Voice of a man who pays for power, but lacks power for basic use. |
Dear fellow readers, I have been saying it on this blog, and in any forum I get the opportunity to; Amaechi and his goons in this state are just wasting our money and doing whatever they like, completely forgetting the primary reason why they are in the positions they occupy. At this time when majority of the state's populace wallow in abject poverty, with bad roads, no electricity, armed robbery attacks everywhere, and kidnapping; Amaechi feels the most important thing for the state is a private jet. How out-of-tune can a governor be? This government has failed us so much, if you look at all their plans, it just goes to show they are not interested in the people they govern. First, its the monorail project...15 Billion naira to construct only 6km of monorail in an area that does not even need additional transportation options (when most areas of the state have completely degenerated roads); then its the cover-up called 'Greater Port Harcourt', which is just a travel agency for all Amaechi's personal friends to travel the world, in the guise of going-to-study-developed-cities, meanwhile the governor confiscates choice land areas in the state for personal gain; also in education, he preaches giant strides, while ensuring RSUST in reduced to nothing through one controversy or another, and in the case of Uniport killings, he doesn't even consider that an issue to be addressed. All round, this government has really failed her people. To be frank, Amaechi was elected by the people, with great potentials and every tool in his hands to do a great job and return this state to its lost glory; and indeed he teed off nicely, but along the line, he completely and totally lost it. Seems in the same way as Odili, the money and power got the better of him. And then this title 'Governor's forum Chairman' came and took what was left of Amaechi from us. Now we have an absentee governor, one who believes his primary assignment is to lead the other governors, and ruling Rivers State is just a part time job. Now Amaechi rolls with the big boys in Abuja, instead of our good for nothing state. To help him in his travels, he ofcos needs a new jet, and a new jet he gets...not minded that it sets the state back by 'only' usd45million, (an amount that if invested in the state will ensure roads, electricity, security, etc are brought to a better standard. I was in Lagos a few days ago, and got into an argument with a friend who lives there, when I hailed Fashola for some projects he had done (especially road construction and rehabilitation - around Yaba area, and Lekki expressway, and ofcos the bridge from Lekki 1 to Ikoyi); but my friend condemned Fashola and said he thinks Amaechi is better. There you go...the power of propaganda...that is what Amaechi is bent on doing, making people believe he is working by using Rivers money to spread wrong info to others. Amaechi, in your quest for Vice presidency position...I have just a few words for you - Just like Odili failed, history will repeat itself again...and YOU WILL FAIL, and then you will become an outcast in your own state, again like Odili, and when your name is mentioned, it will always be in negative jist about misfortunes of Rivers State. But unlike Odili, you still have a chance to do good, please act right! |
Please can our leaders and assembly poeple look into this issue of federal roads and state roads. This is a major grey area in our infrastructure. Najor roads are going bad, lives are being lost daily, but when the issue us raised, the governors concerned say it is a federal owned road and therefore should be maintained by ferma; all this time business is lost to the state and the people of the state suffer. Some examples are East West Road (Rivers-Bayelsa-Delta), Ph-Enugu expressway (Rivers-Abia-Anambra-Enugu), Lagos Ibadan expressway (Lagos-Ogun-Oyo-Edo), Ph-Uyo road (Rivers-Akwa Ibom). Some of these roads are of so much importance to both federal and states that I think it is down-right ignorant and selfish of the respective leaders to argue who should maintain. An example being the Ph-Uyo road which serves Onne seaport (the economic gate way to Eastern Nigeria). Daily, thousands of people and cargo worth millions of dollars ply this road and yet the road is in a state similar to something found in an 'end of time' movie. With potholes the size of craters, and cars + trucks alike falling over and creating terrible traffic jams. It is amazing that some particular spots on this road have become money farms for people as every rainy season, people tend to win contracts to fix the roads but end up only pouring granite and tar on the road but no major repair is done (as no drainage is fixed); when the rains come again, the entire road is washed out. My plea is for the attention of our leaders at the respective assembly houses to look into such areas of our infrastructure and decide a way forward. People are dying daily, it will only take the seriousness of our leaders to have this sorted out. We have the resources...just action is needed. |

Hi @OP, got this off the internet, long read but if its important to you and your friend, guess you'll find the time to read through: "Prenatal DNA paternity tests, commonly referred to as DNA testing during pregnancy, is conducted when a mother wants to confirm the biological father of her child while still in the womb. While common DNA tests use tissue samples provided by the parties involved, this is not possible with an unborn child. In order to complete a DNA test during pregnancy, 1ml of the amniotic fluid is collected and stored on a card provided with the test kit. An equivalent amount of cells taken during a Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) can also be used. The parents can submit their tissue samples utilizing a DNA home test kit or a clinic designated by the company completing the analysis of the samples. If this test is being completed due to legal action currently before the courts, a home kit cannot be utilized and a company using stringent chain of custody procedures will need to complete the sampling process as well as the analysis. This will ensure the results are legally admissible in a court of law. How safe is a DNA test during pregnancy? The samples are submitted to the laboratory for analysis with results generally available in 10 – 15 working days. The analysis will look at the DNA results of the fetus and the father to identify common markers that will confirm a biological relationship between the father and child. These tests are 99.9% accurate so both parties involved can have peace of mind before the child is born. One of the big risks with a DNA test performed during pregnancy is the fact that samples can only be collected using invasive procedures and involve risks to both the unborn fetus and the mother. Amniocentris can be performed from the 14th to the 24th week of pregnancy and is the process of collecting amniotic fluid by inserting a specialized needle into the uterus through the abdomen. Risks in this process include miscarriage in addition to leakage of amniotic fluid as well as leakage of the uterus. Getting a dna test during pregnancy Chorionic Villus Sampling can be completed from the 10th to 13th week of the pregnancy where a needle or small tube is used to extract samples of the chorionic villa tissue through the vagina and cervix. This procedure has a small risk of inducing a miscarriage of the unborn child. For these reasons it is important to consult with your doctor before having a DNA test during pregnancy completed." All the best! |
Since I heard this on the radio yesterday, its just been bugging my head and has kept me completely disgusted and irritated. I have been one to cheer for Amaechi all along, saying he is the best governor and all, but for him to fall for such proposals from his a** kissing House of assembly members (thats if it wasn't his idea in the first place) just goes to show that indeed, there is no difference between him and the biggest thieving politicians of the lot. Wonder when we will ever have a leader who is not only thinking of himself, but of the betterment of his wards....smh |
Guys, Have you heard about the new bill passed by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State? This bill will ensure all past Governors of Rivers State are provided the following: - Pension Payments - Medical Coverage - 2 houses (One in Rivers State, and another in Abuja) - 3 Vehicles - 8 Policemen - Furniture Allowance, amongst other things. What do you think of such laws? Does this not show that the entire Government and House of Assembly of Rivers State has lost it? Just makes me continue to wonder....where are we headed in this country ![]() |

Dear Leaders and concerned Nigerians, We urge you to take care not to kill the economy of this beloved country by letting the 'gate-way' to commerce and trade die away. I am speaking of the deplorable state of the Onne-Port Harcourt expressway. This is the road that links Onne seaport to Port Harcourt and other eastern states. The road has gone so bad that it is now a nightmare for truckers (both containerised and bulk cargo). Daily, cargo worth millions of naira ply the road to get to the Nigerian populace and businesses, why cant our governemnt/ leaders look into the state of this road and ensure that the road is maintained and if possible expanded to ensure smooth delivery of cargo and enhanced commerce to the East and generally to the entire Nigerian Market?? This is a humble request from a concerned Nigerian. Please repost...someone in a position to help may just be a post away. Thank you....from a concerned Nigerian |
Dear Leaders, This is a humble appeal to our leaders to look into areas that concern the economy of our great country! I am speaking of the state of the Onne-Port Harcourt highway. This is a route that connects the world to the entire East Nigeria in terms of commerce and trade. The roads are in their worst state, and considering that the rains are only just beginning; the very worst is yet to come. I dont want to write a long epistle on this, I only ask that our leaders look into the state of this road as it is getting worse by the day, and that is the same road that 90% or cargo entering Nigeria through Onne seaport must go through. I always here about the "Federal Road" vs 'State Road" talks, but sincerely speaking, we need to get our acts together and secure infrastructure that affects the economy of our great nation. Thank you for reading, please pass on until someone in a position to do something reads this!!! A concerned Nigerian |
