For Points spread or Handicap or Asian Handicap, the number in the bracket is for the Home team. The number can either be positive or negative e.g (Points spread 1.5 in 2nd quarter) or (Points spread -1.5 in 2nd quarter).
For the event (Points spread -1.5 in 2nd quarter),
it means 1.5 points is to be subtracted from the home team's total points in 2nd quarter (note the minus sign in front of the 1.5).

it means 1.5 points is to be added to the Home teams's total points in 2nd quarter (note there's no minus sign in front of the 1.5)

in point spread betting the side you chose to win needs to cover the spread, as in d case with China, they won with three points, if the score had been 14-12 that China bet would be lost because the -2.5 spread was not covered.
as for France they won, but did not cover d 1.5 spread.

Note: 11.5 is greater than 11 also 12.5 is greater than 12
