On Thursday, we successfully accomplished the task of casting the concrete columns and lintel on the ground floor, ensuring that the foundational framework of the building was securely established. In addition to this critical construction phase, we completed laying the plumbing pipes for the ground floor prior to proceeding with the concrete casting, thereby guaranteeing that all necessary infrastructure was in place before solidifying the concrete structure.

The pictures of the new iron rod we bought isn't available but the video recordings. If you wish to have the video update on the site you can drop a message on Whatsapp +2347046517600, we post video recordings of all our projects daily. Meanwhile attached are the previous photos of the imported irod rod we bought. But the facts is you can identify imported irod rod from local with pictures except you are in the field. One of the key differences between them, often not apparent at first glance, is the minor variation in thickness—while imported rods maintain an exact 16mm diameter, those produced locally often experience a slight reduction in diameter, making them appear less robust in comparison.

As scheduled, we successfully reached the ground floor lintel on Saturday, just as we had planned. Remarkably, it took us only five days to complete the setting of more than 3,000 concrete blocks. Next on the agenda is the formwork for the lintel and columns.

Let me highlight the benefits of a Damp Proof Course just to enlighten us A Damp Proof Course (DPC) is a critical component in building construction that prevents moisture from rising through walls and floors, offering several key benefits: 1. Prevents Structural Damage: DPC blocks capillary action, stopping moisture from seeping into walls, floors, and foundations. This protects the building from issues like weakened masonry, crumbling plaster, and deteriorating timber, ensuring long-term structural integrity. 2. Reduces Mold and Mildew Growth: By keeping moisture out, DPC minimizes the risk of mold and mildew, which thrive in damp environments. This promotes a healthier indoor environment and prevents respiratory issues or allergies caused by mold exposure. 3. Protects Interior Finishes: Moisture can damage paint, wallpaper, and plaster, leading to peeling, staining, or cracking. DPC helps maintain the aesthetic quality of interiors, reducing the need for frequent repairs or redecoration. 4. Improves Energy Efficiency: Damp walls lose heat more quickly, increasing heating costs. A properly installed DPC keeps walls dry, improving thermal insulation and reducing energy bills. 5. Increases Property Value: Buildings with effective damp proofing are more attractive to buyers, as they indicate a well-maintained structure with fewer future repair costs. DPC can enhance the marketability and longevity of the property. 6. Prevents Timber Decay: In buildings with wooden elements, DPC prevents moisture from reaching timber, reducing the risk of rot and insect infestations, which can compromise structural components like beams and joists. 7. Enhances Comfort: A dry building is more comfortable to live in, free from the damp, musty odors and cold, clammy conditions associated with moisture infiltration. 8. Cost-Effective Maintenance: Installing a DPC during construction or retrofitting it in older buildings prevents costly repairs caused by damp-related damage, saving money in the long run. By incorporating a DPC, builders and homeowners can ensure a durable, healthy, and cost-efficient living environment. DPC is a necessity because if you don't do it correctly or neglect it to save costs, you will end up spending more when the moisture begins to cause problems. Additionally, tiling the wall, screeding, or plastering won't prevent moisture from moving. Prevention is better than cure. Do it right and do it once.

The completion of the Damp Proof Course concrete casting took place on Saturday, and the entire project incurred a total cost of 3,812,000.

As part of the preparations for the concrete casting scheduled for tomorrow, the Damp Proof Membrane installation was completed successfully. We used a membrane with a thickness of 500 microns (500µm), which is equivalent to a 2000 gauge (2000G) thickness. In terms of materials, we have supplied a total of 200 bags of cement, valued at #2,000,000, along with 20 tons of granite, priced at #320,000, to supplement the existing stock of 30 tons. Presently, we have an inventory that includes 40 tons of sharp sand, 50 tons of granite, and 200 bags of cement, ensuring we are well-equipped for the casting process tomorrow.
