A lawyer and rights activist, Kabir Akingbolu, has dragged President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over allegedly failure to keep to their promise to Nigerians during their electioneering campaigns to publicly declare their assets. Akingbolu, who initiated the suit, is contending that by declaring their assets secretly, Buhari and Osinbajo have violated Section 172 and Section 11 (1) and (2) of the Code of Conduct for public officers under the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Other defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF and the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB. Buhari and Osinbajo had declared their assets to the CCB secretly, a development which drew public condemnation, with many insisting that it was a departure from the anti-corruption posture of the president and his vice. Akingbolu, is asking the court to declare that it was mandatory for the CCB to publicly publish the assets of Buhari and Osinbajo. He is further praying the court to declare that the secret declaration of assets by Buhari and Osinbajo was unconstitutional. He also want the court to mandate them to publicly declare their assets in line with the Code of Conduct for public officers under the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution. Akingbolu, in an affidavit in support of the suit, averred that Buhari and Osinbajo made it abundantly clear while canvassing for votes from Nigerians that they would publicly declare their assets in order to prove that they would run a transparent government. He further averred that under the code of conduct, the President and the Vice President were duty as public officers to declare their assets publicly, and that the duo have breached the said stipulation by not publicly declaring their assets as dictated and mandated by the Constitution. He added that the sad aspect of the development, was that the CCB “has been shielding Buhari and Osinbajo by not publicizing their purported declaration of assets in line with the law.” “I know as a fact as a legal practitioner that Buhari and Osinbajo are duty bound to declare their assets publicly and it will be in the interest of justice, public peace and good governance to grant the reliefs in this suit,” he averred. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/lawyer-sues-buhari-osinbajo-over-assets-declaration/ lalasticlala |

The acting Area Commander, Ebute Metta command, CSP Sarah Mangwe, who paraded the suspects, said they had previously warned the public severally about this dangerous act before they raided and arrested the hudloms. She said a team of police officers, led by DSP Ishiaku Agwin, on Wednesday, swooped on the hoodlums and arrested 58 of those that sat on top of a train. The Railway District Manager, Lagos, Mr. Akin Osinowo, said the menace had been with the corporation for a long time and hopes this might be a warning to others to see the danger in it. http://yesreport..com/2015/08/58-arrested-for-sitting-ontop-of-train.html lalasticlala |

Former House of Representatives member, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has denied owing any bank N122m. In a statement, yesterday, Dabiri-Erewa, said: “I owe nobody any money, not even myself.” The statement reads: “I was thoroughly embarrassed to see my picture on the front page of a newspaper that Thriller Endeavor Company, claiming me as a director, owes about N100million to Diamond Bank". I know nothing about the said company, Thriller Endeavor, or its activities, as mentioned in the publication. “If the company claims I am a director in the said bank, then it has definitely done so without my knowledge and without my permission. “If this is the case it’s a case of fraud and will have to be brought to the attention of relevant security agencies, the bank in question, and the Central Bank of Nigeria. “I once again state categorically that the company (Thriller Endeavour) is not known to me. “As a very contented person, I owe nobody any money, not even myself.” on a similar note,a Press statement from the Nigerian Senator below... Senator Hope Uzodimma has absolved himself from indebtedness to the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited, insisting that he has neither borrowed from the bank nor been notified of any indebtedness by FCMB. Reacting to the list of alleged delinquent debtors released by First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited on Wednesday, Uzodimma challenged the bank to provide details of his so-called indebtedness to it. He said companies which he served on their boards and had earlier obtained loans under strict business transactions, had liquidated all such loans and this could be verified by the Credit Bureau Search Portal of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). “For the bank to publish my name as a debtor, is callous and an attempt to disparage me. I feel pained that people who have worked to the levels of command and leadership are made targets of press war, mischief and ridicule. I have no banking relationship with FCMB. I haves never opened any account with the bank, talk more of borrowing from it. This is scandalous”, he stressed. Uzodimma accused his political detractors for being behind his listing as a debtor and urged the bank not to allow itself to be used by political detractors. The Senator urged his detractors who relish in dragging his name to the mould at any given opportunity, to focus on more productive things for the good of the country and Nigerians than denigrating him. Signed... Senator Hope Uzodinmma http://yesreport..com/2015/08/i-owe-nobody-dabiri-erewa-cries-out.html lalasticlala |
The request sent to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari for approval of a $75 million loan request by Edo State may be running into turbulent waters, as protesters, on Wednesday, stormed the National Assembly, urging legislators not to approve the request by the Edo State government. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 written to the National Assembly seeking the approval of the loan being the second tranche of the $ 225 million World Bank granted the Edo State government under the 2012-2014 external borrowings. The protesters displayed placards at the main entrance of the National Assembly, with some of the placards reading: “Don’t approve the loan”, ” We don’t want loan” and ” We want action”. They stormed the assembly at about 10.a.m. when Senators were going in for the day’s legislative duties. In the same vein, the Senate, on Wednesday, referred the request to its Standing Committee on Local and Foreign Debts. The motion for the loan request was moved by the Senate leader, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, and it was seconded by Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda of the FCT. Ruling on the motion, the Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, granted Ndume’s request and referred it to the committee on debts. http://dailypost.ng/2015/08/05/protesters-storm-nass-over-buharis-edo-loan-request/ |
The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut 23 private petroleum products depots across the country for selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to marketers above ex-depot price of N77.66 per litre, a statement said. The statement, issued by DPR Director, Mr Mordecai Ladan, in Abuja on Sunday, said that the shutting of the facilities took effect on Friday. It added that the depots were mainly in Lagos except for two in Warri, Delta, and three in Calabar. “The clampdown on the private depots followed the report of a special investigation team set up by DPR to uncover some unwholesome practices by the private petroleum products depots following a tip-off,” the statement said. It added that the depots would remain sealed until the some conditions were met by the owners, including payment of two million naira fine and an undertaking that PMS would not be sold to bulk buyers. It also said that all subsequent sales would be at N77.66 per litre as approved by the Federal Government, adding that DPR would monitor the sale of the remaining and subsequent products. The statement further said that DPR had directed all its offices to ensure that all filling stations sold PMS at government approved price of N87.00 per litre regardless of source of source depot. The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission at Obingwa Local Government of Abia state was razed today August 2nd by some hoodlums. Residents of the community say the fire outbreak was politically motivated as suspected political thugs armed with knives, cutlasses and guns stormed the local government before setting the electoral office on fire. This action comes ahead of the August 10th date fixed for the commencement of the state election tribunal. Results from the local government is among many issues that is strongly being contested. meanwhile, The Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Abia State are trading blame over a fire that razed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state. The INEC office in Obingwa went up in flames on Sunday morning, allegedly the handiwork of some arsonists. Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, hails from the council area. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Udevioutu Onyeke, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Umuahia, said the police had yet to ascertain the extent of damage and the possible cause. Onyeke said he could not tell whether or not the fire was deliberately started by some persons or accidental. A source, close to the government, accused APGA of being responsible for the fire. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Persons, suspected to be stalwarts of APGA, this morning set the building housing INEC office at Mgboko, the Obingwa council headquarters, on fire. “Eyewitnesses said those who started the fire came with weapons such as guns, axes and knives and gallons of fuel, and were chanting APGA victory songs and brandishing APGA emblems.” But in his response, the APGA chairman in the state, Augustine Ehiemere, denied the allegation, saying it was an attempt by the the PDP-led administration to cover its ” fraud at the polls.” Ehiemere said it was surprising that PDP would accuse APGA of the dastardly act when the latter needed the electoral materials in the burnt INEC office to support its petition against Ikpeazu at the tribunal. The APGA chairman said, “The government burnt down the place to destroy evidence against its fraud . They did it because the tribunal had ordered INEC to assemble the electoral materials on Monday (tomorrow). Also responding, the APGA governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Alex Otti, accused some thugs loyal to the state government of starting the fire. Otti, who spoke through his media aide, Jennifer Ben-Okereke, alleged that the PDP was afraid that the electoral materials in the burnt office would jeopardise its case at the tribunal. The APGA candidate said that when his team of forensic experts went to the council headquarters to inspect the electoral materials, they were allegedly attacked by thugs suspected to be loyal to Ikpeazu. He appealed to security agents to thoroughly investigate the incident with a view to fishing out the culprits. In his response, Ikpeazu condemned the perpetrators, describing them as enemies of the state. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Godwin Adindu, partly read, “Governor Ikpeazu, who inspected the scene of the fire later in the day, expressed shock at the level of damage done to the building and charged the police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.” Ikpeazu also called on the security agencies to beef up security at all INEC offices in the state to forestall such incidents. http://yesreport..com/2015/08/apgapdp-in-thug-of-war-over-burnt-abia.html lalasticlala ishilove |

Early hours of the 5th day in July, 2015, at the Bank Club inside Dabras hotel, Abuja F.C.T, a gentle-man named Mr. Rex was almost murdered in cold-blood. As Mr. Rex entered the club and proceeded into the V.I.P section, there was a young lady blocking the entrance of the section, he quickly tapped her to excuse him, while sliding through due to the loud music that was being played. Shortly after, another young man approached Mr. Rex stating that the he tapped his girlfriend while entering the section and she didn't appreciate being tapped.Mr. Rex immediately waved his hand to the girlfriend apologizing for his action. The boyfriend insisted that Mr Rex approached his girlfriend and apologize again which he immediately obliged. Walking towards the girlfriend to apologize again, Mr rex was struck on the head from his back with a red label bottle, which by the way is not sold in the VIP section of the club. Mr Rex was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies are currently investigating the matter as a case of attempted murder. The club is a risk to Nigerians and other socialites. I hope the relevant agencies continue to investigate this matter until the perpetrators are brought to book. http://yesreport..com/2015/08/how-my-friend-was-nearly-killed-in.html lalasticlala |
