Meet the world’s oldest married couple who have been together for 89 years and have a combined age of 211!

Does eternal love guarantee eternal life? Nobody knows for sure but Karam Chand, 109 years, and his wife Kartari, 102, probably know the answer. The inspiring golden oldies have eight children, 27 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Both husband and wife were born in November and have celebrated their joint birthdays this weekend. The event was attended by four generations of their family at their home in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK.

The happy couple tied the knot 89 years ago after meeting in India as teenagers. And since then they never spent a day apart. Their eight children said that they are proud to see their beloved parents celebrate almost a century of married life.

When asked about the secret of their long life, Mrs Chands said: “We have always eaten good wholesome food, there’s nothing artificial in our diet, things like butter, milk and yoghurt are what we like.

We know that being married for 86 years is a blessing, but equally we will be ready to go when it’s time. It’s all up to the will of God, but we really have lived a good life.We just get along with each other and we are family focused, its simple.”

Health / Top-6 Bad Habits That Cause Kidney Damage (A MUST READ) by mrsanuforo: 6:59am On Apr 15, 2015
On the 18th of January Nollywood actor Muna Obiekwe passed away because of kidney failure. It is a sad fact that habits most Nigerians have could cause kidney damage.

So here are the top 6 causes of kidney disease:

1. Delaying going to a toilet
Keeping your urine in your bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. When nature calls – do it as soon as possible.

2. Eating too much salt
You should eat no more than 5.8 grams of salt daily

3. Eating too much meat
Too much protein in your diet is harmful for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin that is very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more kidney damage.

4. Drinking too much caffeine
Caffeine is a component of many sodas and soft drinks. It raises your blood pressure and your kidneys start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of coke you drink daily.

5. Not drinking water
Our kidneys should be hydrated properly to perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough, the toxins can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 10 glasses of water daily. There is an easy way to check if you are drinking enough water: look at the colour of your urine; the lighter the colour, the better.

6. Late treatment
Treat all your health problems properly and have your health checked regularly.

Politics / Easter Tragedy: 5 Family Members Burnt To Death In Delta Auto Crash by mrsanuforo: 6:39am On Apr 06, 2015
Tragedy struck at the Kwale axis of the Ughelli-Asaba expressway in Delta State at the weekend when five persons suspected to be members of the same family were burnt to death in a road accident involving their vehicle and another.

An eyewitness told Daily Sun that the vehicles were moving towards Asaba, the state capital, but on separate lanes of the dualised road.

Unfortunately, however, the vehicle on the primary lane had a burst tyre, which scaled it over the road dividers to hit the vehicle conveying the family members. The two vehicles, it was gathered, went up in flames apparently due to the impact of the contact.

The two vehicles involved in the crash were burnt beyond recognition.

The five occupants of the vehicle whose identities were yet to be ascertained  were burnt along with their vehicle while the two occupants of the vehicle that had a burst tyre were rushed to the hospital.

According to the witness, the chances of survival of the injured victims were very slim as they had severe burns all over their bodies.

Politics / Obasanjo Presents Soludo As Finance Minister To Buhari by mrsanuforo: 10:35pm On Apr 05, 2015
General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the historic March 28th presidential elections have turned the political structures of the PDP on its head in a manner that marveled many within the country.

However, the uncertainties surrounding the staffing of the incoming Buhari administration appears to pose a more intriguing scenario. This is as sources say the horse trading for the sensitive ministerial positions within the Buhari administration has already commenced.

Ex-CBN Governor, Charles Soludo is said to have been presented by President Olusegun Obasanjo as the new Minister of Finance for the Buhari administration. But some APC big men are not happy…

Soludo had served as a member of the economic team for the Obasanjo administration prior to becoming the governor of the CBN.

Soludo’s presentation to the incoming administration as the likely minister of finance is reported to have raised eyebrows within the inner circles of the APC – who explained that Soludo remains a card carrying member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, a party that hates the APC with passion. They complained that Soludo cannot be allowed to reap where he did not sow. But Soludo is not really an APGA man, he only went to Anambra to contest governorship election and has since left.

It is also believed that APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not comfortable with Soludo but since he has a lot of respect for Obasanjo, he is open to further discussion ahead of May 29.
