Travel / 9 Die In Lagos Boat Accident by MrSarcasm(m): 6:38pm On Aug 20, 2017
The Lagos State Government on Sunday confirmed the death of nine persons in a boat accident which occurred in Ilashe area of the State.

In a statement issued by the Managing Director of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Engr Abisola Kamson, the State Government attributed the unfortunate mishap to overloading of passengers on a Banana Boat and operation of illegal jetty.

Kamson said four victims of the mishap who were rescued are already receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, while search and rescue operation was still on-going.

While commiserating with the families of those that lost their loved ones, the State Government said the mishap had again brought to the fore the need for the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to respect the recent verdict of the Court of Appeal which upheld the powers of the State Government to control its intra-inland waterways.

Giving details of the mishap, Kamson said: “An unfortunate incident occurred at Ilashe today Sunday August 20th arising from overloading of passengers on a Banana boat taking off from an illegal Jetty which has become a perennial issue of the Lagos State Government to rid our Waterfront areas of illegal operators.

“We sympathize with the families of the deceased as nine lives were lost in the mishap and four people receiving treatment in the hospital.

“The LASWA rescue team has been on ground and search is still on-going. This brings to fore again the need for NIWA to allow the judgement of the Appeal Court granting Lagos Control of her waterways to take effect without hindrance.

“It is a matter for regret that ever since the judgement was pronounced, NIWA has ejected all State Water Guards monitoring standards from all Federal owned Jetties. In spite of this, the Government of Lagos State aligns to the safety of citizens on the waterways. All Lagosians are enjoined to wear standard life jackets at all times on our Waterways,” Kamson said.

Furthermore, the LASWA boss urged boat operators and other stakeholders in the inland waterways sector to adhere strictly to safety standards at all times.

Politics / Adeyinka Grandson wants to create Yoruba National Football Team by MrSarcasm(m): 10:28pm On Aug 17, 2017
Remarks by Adeyinka Grandson at a Meeting with Members of the Yoruba Unity International:

The Yorubas are crazy about football. They watch the English Premier League, but whenever they travel to that country they called it the United Kingdom. But, they have never been bothered to inquire why the United Kingdom, has four football leagues each one for the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish.

So, we are going to create a Yoruba National Football Team with elite footballers.

Yoruba has elite footballers around the world who never played for Nigeria. A number is being loved back home in Yorubaland.

Under the FIFA eligibility rule, a newly formed nation could call up any player who has it nationality. So those players can be called to the team.

Some of the players on this list include:

Defenders:
Leon Balogun - Mainz 05
David Alaba - Bayern
Tiago Ilori - Reading
Dennis Aogo - Stuttgart
Brian Idowu - Amkar
Ola Aina - Hull city
Moses Odubajo - Hull
Fikayo Tomori - Chelsea
Gbenga Arokoyo - Timber
Semi Ajayi - Rotherham
Manuel Akanji - Basel

Midfielders:
Dele Alli - Tottenham
Raheem Lawal - Kaysespor
Abdul Ajagun - Roda Jk
Ramon Azeez - Almeria
Tom Adeyemi - Ipswich
Fatai Alashe - Earthquake
Rilwan Hassan - Midtjyland
Funsho Ojo - Scunthorpe

Attackers:
Obafemi Martins - Shanghai
Dominic Solanke - Liverpool
Ademola Lookman - Everton
Larry Kayode - FK Austria
Isaac Success - Watford
Michael Olaitan - Panionos
Nicky Ajose - Bury
Michael Babatunde - Al Nasr
Gbolahan Salami - HJK
Karim Onisiwo - Mainz 05
Aaron Olanare - CSKA Moscow
Sheyi Ojo - Liverpool
Sone Aluko - Fulham
Kylian Adesanmi Mbappe - Monaco

Calling up these players and they are honouring the call will ensure we win the minds of million. But you know you can’t invite these players if there are no necessary funds and other packages.

Let’s assume, for example… Those players are invited coupled with other Yoruba who plays for Yoruba clubs in Yorubaland. A friendly match could be organised with Catalonia. Catalonia for example, has players like Iniesta, Busquet, Pedro, Fabregas, etc.

This will send a clear message not only to Yorubas and other part of Nigeria about our seriousness for Oduduwa Republic, but to the entire world.

Whilst we have already called on scholarly Yorubas to use their laboratories to produce chemical and biological weapons with which to defend Yoruba civilization from the barbarian Hausa/Fulani, next week, am meeting with another pro-Oduduwa Republic group to discuss how we can invite these Yoruba players if there are necessary funds and other packages to play Catalonia Football Team.

Young Yorubas for Freedom is not using street protests to bring about Oduduwa Republic. We are using organized violence. We have asked people to remove and replace the Murtala Mohammed International Airport back to its original name Lagos International Airport; the Nigerian Stock Exchange back to its original name the Lagos Stock Exchange; Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island to be changed to Fela Anikulapo Way, Victoria Island and to take over the Yoruba ports and waterways.

We are now going to create a Yoruba National Football Team and sponsor a friendly match with Catalonia Football Team. The other idea is organising a lucrative soccer competition among Yorubaland Universities. Once the movement gains the heart of the youth, it is a success already.

If we organise a prestigious soccer competition among universities, it will bring together the youths in one aim and that is a fight for Freedom.

The time for big big English grammar is over. We are using organized violence.

Thank you all.
