Nairaland General › Re: Who Is The Most Famous Nigerian Of All Time? by MrSly(m): 5:43pm On Feb 23
pkasso:
Nigeria is the most populous Black nation on the planet and it's no surprise that such a country has produced exceptionally talented people who have made names for themselves in different spheres of life. Be it in business, politics, academia, sports and entertainment.

These individuals have left their mark in their respective fields and history is replete with their accomplishments. But which one of these personalities has achieved the highest of recognition? The one whose name is mentioned even in the most remote of lands. Who is the most famous Nigerian of all time?

You can mention other names not available in the poll.
Which kind of options is this?

"I Agree With The Teachings Of Jesus" World's Richest Man Elon Musk Says

World's Richest Man and leading scientist and technological innovator, Elon Musk, has continued to proudly and publicly ldentify with Christ and those of the Christian faith.

This time he posted on the X, "I agree with the teachings of Jesus"

I sincerely hope though he means what he says and isn't just saying it for saying sake, but also walking the talk.

However saying it alone openly and unashamedly, in a world that hates, rejects and doesn't want anything to do with the name of Jesus, is a right step in the right direction.

God bless.

obembet:
Discovering that a child you raised from birth is not biologically yours can be one of the most devastating experiences a man may ever face. It shakes identity, trust, love, and years of sacrifice in a single moment.

Some men are emotionally strong enough to process the pain quietly and think clearly before acting. Others struggle deeply, overwhelmed by anger, betrayal, and heartbreak.

Unfortunately, in extreme cases, some make harsh decisions that damage their mental health, their future, or even land them in prison. A moment of uncontrolled emotion can lead to lifelong consequences.

Paternity fraud is becoming a serious global concern. Many believe governments and legal systems should address it more firmly before it escalates further.

But beyond laws and policies, there’s a deeply personal question every man must ask himself: If you found out your beloved son is not biologically yours

what steps would you take?

Would you walk away?
Seek legal action?
Demand accountability?
Or choose to protect the bond you’ve built over the years?

It’s a painful conversation, but an important one. Emotions are real, but so are consequences. In moments like this, wisdom matters more than anger. What would you do?

It is not true. It is enclshrined in the Constitution. Sayingnitnis null and void men's the Constitution itself is null and void, your freedom is null and void the resident is null and void because all these are backed by the same constitution which backs PIA. It takes only the legislature with the signature of the president to amend such law.

The PIA itself conflicts with the Constitution, which requires all revenues to be paid into the Federation Account. The EO simply restores compliance pending amendments. If challenged in court, the EO would prevail over the PIA.
PIA conflict with Constitution, let's agree, yes. But it does not take an executive order to amend a law. The executive order could be valid if it furthers the implementation nof a law in line with constitutionalb provisions.
But here an executive order amended law. Lol, anyways this is nigeria so anything goes. This is an impeacheable offence.

This isn’t about impunity. The PIA contradicts the Constitution by allowing deductions before remittances to the Federation Account, so the EA appears to be a temporary stopgap pending proper amendments.

If the amendment route had been taken first, NNPC cabals might have stalled it. In any case, since no law overrides the Constitution, one would expect the EO to be upheld against the PIA, and anyone dissatisfied can challenge it in court.
That is the issue here. The executive order is illegal, whether it is meant to be temporary or not. The president has no such power. The Constitution is supreme. There is no way we view it that will justify that act. It is a glaring overreach by Tinubu. This is very serious to the extent that it is enough for impeachment. Just that there is legislature is Nigeria currently.

I believe that the reason many crimes still persist in Nigeria is that they only attract light punishments.

If the punishment for raping women and a woman wrongly accusing people of raping them is the death sentence, the either party will think twice before committing such crimes.
And you call yourself smart politician. You are not qualified. Human life looks like a bunch of banana to you.

Cmon bro this is not always about politics—this EO will increase revenue to all units of the federation.
I am not against the act. The process is the issue. Does executive order supersede the law? Why not send the bill for amendment to the appropriate arm for the right thing to be done?

So impunity of the executive is my major concern now because it breeds cleven higher corruption. How are you sure this money won't be used for campaign? No one will know if executive rasclity continues in this manner.

Lol. How do you want a Tinubu who rigged 2023 mindlessly to understand the the law as sacrosanct. He bypassed free and fair election. He bypassed credible separation of power by buying off the judiciary and rigging in puppets as Senate and Senate President.

He, Tinubu will very soon sign executive order to extend his tenure as a live President. There he would meet his waterloo.

Food › Re: Agege Bread with "Best Before" Date? Why can’t our local bakers do this? by MrSly(m): 11:37am On Feb 19
sinorte:
I was at the store recently and picked up some Agege-styled bread. What caught my eye wasn't just the softness, but a clear 'Best Before' date printed on the packaging.

It seems this is the standard in the Western world, and it got me thinking about our bread industry back home in Nigeria.

My Questions for the House:
1. Safety vs. Tradition: Most of us buy bread in nylon bags without any reliable info. We rely on "pressing" the bread to check for freshness. Isn't it time we moved past this and demanded proper labeling?

2. The "Chemical" Factor: Do you think some bakers avoid dates because they use preservatives to keep the bread soft for weeks? A date would force them to be more honest about their ingredients.

3. NAFDAC's Role: Why is it that many of our local staples get away without these basic consumer protections?

I know our "street" bread is legendary, but shouldn't we be evolving? Or do you think adding dates will just increase the price of a loaf for no reason?

Let’s discuss. Have you ever bought bread in Nigeria that actually had an expiry date? Or are we just "living by faith" with our breakfast?
That is for some people who are still naive about their health. Normally bread is not too healthy a food. That said, I don't consume any bread that lasts more than one week after baking. Someone might ask how to know when it was baked. Of course I go to the mall where it is baked pick my number and wait for the number of minutes given to get the bread oven fresh.

Any bread that lasts more than one week after baking is harmful because it contains preservatives. Best before date that spans through three weeks. Haba, is it still bread?
