Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by mthree: 1:41pm On Jul 24, 2015
Hi Justwise and co, I would really appreciate some help on the following issue:

I’ll be traveling to the UK in September to start a 1yr MSc program; I would like my wife and 2 kids to visit me for about 10 days during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
We’ve budgeted about 1.1 Mill for the trip:
Travel costs for 1 adult+ 2kids: 580,000
Accommodation: 350,000
Feeding and shopping: 200,000

My wife will make the application for the UK visitor’s visa in October, for herself and the 2 kids:
Her circumstances are as follows:

She has been working with a national NGO for about 5yrs.
She has a valid 2yr US visa
Salary after tax: 300K
Salary account will have a balance by October of: 2.3 mill
Savings account (in her name): about 1Mill (the account was opened about a yr ago and since then there has been no significant inflow or outflow)
Her salary account doesn’t have much outflow as per expenditure as I’m responsible for monthly expenses (When I Leave for the UK in September she will start having regular monthly expenditure).
My circumstance:
I am starting an MSc in the UK in September, after I resume I will be inviting my wife and kids to the UK.
I have paid my school tuition in full and I have a tier 4 visa.
Presently I am working but I will resign in early August.
My salary account has a balance of 6.85 mill (which includes my maintenance funds while in the UK, since I’m not going to be in London it comes to about 820x12months=9840GBP roughly about 3mill naira).
This means I have a balance of about 3.8mill after deducting my living expense.

Please consider the following options:

Option A:
I transfer the cost for the trip (1.1Mill) into her account and she will explain while applying for the visa on the blank space for ‘any other information to be considered as part of the application’ where the lump sum is coming from: The explanation would be I am sponsoring the trip as her husband I think this would be acceptable.. I would also be named as the sponsor in the visa application….What do you think? In this case would I need to provide 6 months bank statements, and payslips? Remember that I would have resigned in August and she’d be applying for the visa in October, this means I would be able to give her payslips from April to July I wouldn’t have any slips for August and September…..

Option B
She applies for the visa using both her own statements of account (salary and savings)…. And she indicates she will be responsible for the cost of the trip in the visa application…

Which one do you find most suitable? do you have any other option as to how to go about applying for the visa considering our circumstances I’m open to suggestions..
Thanks! smiley
