SA is also one of the most unequal countries in the world where stupendous wealth sits side by side with excruciating poverty. I remember our visit to Cape Town and some colleagues decided to take the train to Pretoria. When they came back one of them was saying they passed areas that resemble Ajegunle, if not worse. I was in Durban on another trip and from the 8th floor of an office complex I could see what looked like a shanty settlement in the middle of the city surrounded by beautiful skyscrapers. Despite the contradictions and inequality, though, SA is the most industrialised country on the continent and the whites invested heavily in infrastructure during the apartheid era. Hopefully, black South Africans would be better enlightened and shorn xenophobic tendencies.

Maybe the tracker the person has is useless because it's fake. The one I know is installed/managed by a company. It's sim card linked and after payment of the installation cost, you only pay an annual fee of 10k for the data for running the sim. Once installed, you can track the car from your phone or call the company to do it. Additionally, you can switch off the car's engine from your phone via sms text. Assuming Op had a tracker on his car, he could have immediately disabled the engine via text and would have been able to locate the car nearby since the theft just happened and they couldn't have driven the car far. Once you disable the engine this way, it can only be restarted if you send a code via sms to the tracker, so the thief is most likely to either abandon the car or try to check for engine fault and risk been caught.

Depressing story, but even hypocrites won't say she's from the north or blame a particular religion for her plight.

Every car should have a good tracker. As a prayer warrior you can pray for your car's protection, but prayer plus tracker is better. Even if you report car theft, the first thing police will ask is if the car has a tracker. Assuming Op had a tracker, he could have started tracking the car right away and the police, hopefully, would retrieve the car in no time.
