Federal High Court discharge and acquits Chief Felix Ogbebor over Seventy Seven Million Naira (N77, 000, 0000.00) charge filed by EFCC.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday February 19, 2015 arraigned one Chief Felix Ogbebor before Justice B. O. Quadri of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt.

The accused was arraigned on an 8 count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of Seventy Seven Million Naira (N77, 000, 0000.00).

The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) had falsely accused the Chief of obtaining the sum of Seventy Seven Million Naira from Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Stadium Road branch, Port Harcourt.

However, the Federal High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Oshiomah on Wednesday, 12th July, 2023 ruled in favour of the accused dismissing the entire eight 8 count charge and acquitting the accused of any crimes.

The Hon. Justice Oshiomah also ordered for a refund of all the cash unlawful taken from the Defendant’s house by the EFCC operatives. Which consisted of USD10,000 dollars, £15,000 pounds and N800,000.

The defence counsel, R.E. Wanogho formally thanked the court for a well considered judgement and stressed upon need for the commission to take due diligence in ensuring that innocent persons are not convicted of crimes which they have not committed.
