Either someone is paying you, or you're commenting on issues beyond your level of comprehension.

malali:

I completely understand your point. But we need to be careful not to accept a Greek gift. Giving Dangote monopoly of petrol in a country like Nigeria is not a good idea. Even if he has employed the whole Nigerian youths. There has to be strong independent regulatory oversight, which has nothing to do with Dangote.
For the refinery owner to have the regulator fired in 72 hours is bad optics. Because Dangote has just fired the people that will regulate him. Thats not how its done anywhere in the world
The Tariffs are to protect American Business, which are mainly publicly listed companies and not single companies owned by one man who puts all the profits in his pockets.

If Nigerians owned 40% of Dangote refinery and he owned the controlling stake of 60%. I would have no problem. But, with this singular action, we will lose all imports. He will raise the prices as soon as this dust dies down.
Then the next thing he will go after the other refineries. He will force them out of the market, by selling lower and a higher volume, till they pack up. He will also make sure no new refinery is built. Watch and see.

DeLaRue:
It is not all about individual wealth.

The wealth of the listed Americans is more about over priced US stocks, than the economic bouyancy of the American economy.

The current US economic lead over China is not permanent.

For measure, China recorded a trade surplus of more that $1 trillion dollars between January and November 2025. The US on the other hand recorded a trade deficit of over $500 billion during the same period.

I'm glad to see that there are still people like you on the forum who actually understand what many of these valuations are based on.

Cry the beloved country. I weep for Nigeria and Nigerians . This whole Dangote refinery debacle has validated those that say that the people get the leaders they deserve. We are not yet ready to progress as a nation.Imagine these motley crew of buffoons coming out and uttering complete balderash in public.
