instead of clearing your gutter and canals, u'r blaming Fashola. Did he dump garbage into the gutters for you? or did he sandfill your canals and build houses on them? I dont know why Nigerians will never learn to stand up to their responsibilities. You neglect simple sanitation exercises and then look for who to piss on when the floods come and wash everyone away. The government should keep building drainages for you to keep blocking with your filth. I'm really sorry for you all.

To all those who keep calling on government; did y'all take a good, long look at those pictures? Did you see the blocked drainages? Pray, tell, what has government got to do with nigerians' inability to maintain public property? Those drainages were spilling over with garbage! It's one thing for the government to build. It's up to us to maintain what has been given to us. Nearly everywhere that was flooded had a drainage system of some sort ( a gutter, a canal, something) but they were all blocked by something or the other (some had garbage, some had been sandfilled to be developed!). We keep talking about other countries. Those countries do not give their government so much extra work to do because their citizens know how to maintain whatever it is the government does for them no matter how little it is. Our governments (past and present) may not have done much, but how much have we done with regards to maintenance

Pray tell, exactly how do you tell whether a church will steal your money or not. Do you have the ability to look into the hearts of the pastors?

I don't get.

I recently saw a shoprite ad on tv proclaiming low prices. I've been to shoprite a couple of times and they offered no such thing on the goods I went to buy. Everything about shoprite just seemed ridiculously over-hyped.
I'm just wondering if there is a new low-price regime. Can anyone "enlighten" me? I would appreciate the contribution.

Giving tithes and offerings is not a duty to your pastor, but a duty to God. (Leviticus 27:30, Malachi 3:10)
If the people in charge of such tithes choose to abuse their office, that's only the result of their greed. Let their actions not influence your own duties. Do what God has stipulated that you should do and leave the looters to Him to deal with. People stealing tithes and offering and feeding fat on them is not a new phenomenon. There's the classic example on Hophni and Phineas.
I resent people using the excesses of others an an excuse for not fulfilling their own duties. If you choose not to pay your tithes, do you imagine you're punishing your pastor or the church? Nay! You only endanger yourself. God is not going to listen to the excuse "I didn't pay tithe because my pastor was stealing it". The question you will be asked "who was given the mandate, you or your pastor". Fulfill your own duties and clear your personal records with God alone and not your pastor and leave the looters to God.
