FarmTech: .. Ok, but you have to be careful. Did you calculated space requirement in terms of 5birds/m2? That's the one suitable for hot climates. Yes I did with the help of my mentor.. Thanks |

2baga: wao 540 birds sounds like alot to test run.... It's not really a test run, I'm just trying to apply all the knowledge I've been able to gather both from nairaland and as a broiler farmer into egg production albeit on a bigger scale |

FarmTech: .. Since you don't have experience yet, better start with 100. This may help: http://farmersjoint.com/doc-screening-lab-result.html @farmtech thanks for the advice, I've had a little experience already and I also have a mentor close by who wud be @ my Beck and call anytime... I'm also carrying out researches on my own that's y I'm here on nairaland to tap from this thread.... Another issue is that I just need to maximize the space I just rented so I won't be @ loss... The cage capacity that I have is 540 birds |

Eggcelent: Oga Mykeolinks. I read your request the first time. However, I didn't make any input then cos I considered your question ambiguous. And I still do. The reason for this is that vaccines requirements differ from one hatchery to another. Therefore, my piece of advice will be that you get your DOCs directly from a reputable hatchery where you will be given the vaccination schedule on demand. Meanwhile, you may consider starting with 200 DOCs for a test-run. Success Oga eggcelent thank you sir |

Mykeolinks: It's been awesome following this thread all along, thanks guys for the priceless info I've gotten here... I actually did an experiment on broilers and it was an eye opener although not profitable... I wasn't expecting it to be though cos I lost over 50% of them and then sold the remaining one this Xmas period.... So the next thing I intend doing is going into egg production so I'd be hoping to continue to get more info from this thread as time goes on... My first need that I have right now is the list of vaccines and date I'd need to administer to my layers from DOC to pol... I intend stocking 540 birds... Thanks in anticipation please o oga eggcelent and Co I'm waiting for your responses o... Help |
